Welcome to another challenge video! Does the Meatball have the skills to get through, or is this one of the dreaded "impossible" challenges? Well find out as I attempt to complete a Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Hardcore Nuzlocke with only FLYING TYPES!

Rules of the challenge:
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch one Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause)
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

Any weird moves in the fight are explainable by one simple fact: The AI in Diamond and Pearl is ENTIRELY RANDOM. (As we infamously learned with the FlygonHG Fire only Diamond attempt.)

A nuzlocke attempt I did somewhat recently had my pokemon get frozen from the first hit of ice punch 3 times in a row. (As in, pokemon got frozen, I switched out, that pokemon got frozen, etc) Calculate those odds, then compare that with how often meatball misses ranges vs. how often he gets ranges. Or, hell, in general; how often his one- or two-shots ARE ranges that he got, how often he got lucky, and how often he got unlucky.

@@SomeUnsoberIdiot I watch a lot of PChal. He calcs everything, meatball doesn't and I think if he did he'd see the ranges more. Pokemon loves to screw you with statuses too.

For anyone curious about how hidden power would've done with the roark fight, i did the calcs, and this is what i got A max attack level 14 staravia (252 evs 31 iv plus attack nature) does the same damage with wing attack as a low special attack staravia (0 iv no evs) using a neutral type (i used psychic) 50 base power hidden power against a level 12 geodude with 31 ivs in every stat and zero evs so unless you get exactly hidden power electric or get a super weak base power, hidden power will be just as good as wing attack (Technically with these exact calcs wing attack has a higher minimum damage of 8 and the hidden power has a minimum damage of 7)

Guess a rock type run in any game it hasn't been done in yet. You know to play the opposite type of flying Or a special type changer run where pokemon who can change types with ease can used lile kecleon and castform. That sounds unique

You skipped over a Wurmple while looking for Murkrow. Wurmple can evolve into Beautifly a flying type, idk how you rule the random split evolution but it seems to me like you missed that one 😅

Out of curiosity, I do want to see what all of the impossible nuzlockes are. Not just the ones that can't work considering there are none of those types before the first gym or anything, but also any of them that have a lot of pain. I remember seeing your joke about the fire type Firered awhile back and I"ve been interested in seeing what else falls under similar conditions.

@@xChijouChanx Yeah but Infernape and Rapidash are good. Mono ghost or mono dragon in Kanto would be the same, you'd only have Gengar or Dragonite, but you could probably solo the game with them since they're so strong.

Pretty sure stone edge can hit while in fly so got lucky there when it went for night slash. Not sure why ai selected night slash when stone edge has way better stats (super effective and higher base power; also hits during fly) but good run! Love to see it!

I've been toying around with the various monotype hardcore nuzlockes of Pokemon Black/White, and there's quite a few that play out interestingly that you might enjoy. Fire, Steel, Electric, Rock, and Ground were all pretty challenging but possible. If you want a real challenge, try Ice, where you have to solo the first half of the game with a Vanillite! Best of luck and great work on these videos

Didn’t see the ability, but night slash spamming super luck Honchkrow is kinda crazy. For the Gyarados, slap a wide lens on it and the accuracy of Ice Fang is no concern, while Aqua Tail’s accuracy raises to 99%. Used it in Pokemon Reborn and had more success with that than Mega Gyarados.

I did not consider using the Dual-Slot Pokemon, and kinda completely forgot they were a thing so I guess technically I had 13 encounters I could've used. Sadly you still can't get the Razor Fang until after you beat the Elite Four so it's not like it would've been that useful anyway.

Yellow with rock type mons will be horrible since, unless you use the universal randomizer to switch the starter for a Geodude (the earliest one possible I can think of), there would only be like 3 (having to choose between fossils or Old Amber in the very late Cinnabar Mansion, the aforementioned Geodude from Mt. Moon, and Onix in Rock Tunnel) This might be an impossible run due to Misty's AI modification type 3 (always going for Water Gun or Bubble Beam unless she X defends 20% of the time)

im here while youre fighting rork because you said hidden power bad special attack low. is it 1/8th as big as its physical attack? if you get HP grass or water at 4x effective they will do more damage than the 1/2 effective wing attack unles it is roughly 1/8th (actually like 1/7th because of STAB) or less the physical attack. like mathmatically with an attack lowering nature to boot i dont see that happening edit: this bothered me so much for some reason i looked it up and staravias attack is less than double its special attack so as long as hidden power is one of the 6 (out of 18) types in the game that are super effective against rock or ground it is better than wing attack and is still better if its neutral due to the massive speial defence and normal defence difference in onix and geodude. only one i cant confidently say it is better on is cranidose (but its close) also also i still love your content youre a GOAT its very seldom i get so bent out of shape but my inner nerd math was boiling.
