The fighting game is not dead. The CONSOLE is what died. The fighting game started as an arcade game in Japan, and it's been going strong as an arcade game this entire time. You're also judging a book by its spine alone. We haven't even actually seen the cover of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Gold and Silver Virtual Console releases aren't a cash grab, either. People want them, so they're actually fanservice. They've been looking forward to and asking for them since they released gen 1 on Virtual Console, because most copies of the games don't work any more.

Guys, does it really matter that we didn't get Sinnoh remakes? I want them as much as the rest of you, but when it comes down to it we have to be rational. They never promised them to us. They also never promised Pokemon Stars. All of that was just fans looking for clues in places where it actually didn't matter. When it comes down to it, we should be grateful. We're getting a new game, and they're going to do the best they can to insure that it's awesome.

People are mad that USUM is "probably going to be the exact same game". Yet, they kind of always do that, except Gen 5, and what would have Sinnoh remakes been? Just the same game, with the same plot twists, story, just new Pokemon to be found. USUM is a way better move because it still has the potential to surprise us. Skizerz the Almighty but it was announced. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are the sequel. Either we get a D/P remake to end off Gen 7 or no game next year and Gen 8 starts on Switch in 2019. Either way, I believe Gen 8 begins on Switch in 2019 or 2020.

There just wasn't enough room for the large number of pokemon games there are and even if there was you wouldn't see them due to Satoshi being where the games might have been. Black and White 2 came out in 2012 on the DS, an entire year after the 3DS was released. It wasn't until 2013 that a new Pokemon game made its way to 3DS, two years after the system launched. And things considered, Switch Pokemon would probably go the same way. If we ever see pokemon on Switch, it's unlikely to be released anytime before 2019. You got caught up in rumours. You should've taken those rumours with a grain of salt.

Backwards compatibility has nothing to do with software development. It's a different dev kit, it requires time to get used to on your first title created entirely for it. They have a team working on something else for the Switch right now, that's obvious. It'll be done eventually.

Trent Allen I mean, you don't just get to tell me to stop expressing my dissatisfaction, buddy. Nintendo's gonna know they messed up here. Also, don't label any and all dissatisfaction as whining just because it's not what you agree with. I've got perfectly legitimate reasons to say that this Direct was made in probably the worst way they could have. I don't think anybody's really complaining about the fact that Pokken is on the Switch. It's that they show the Switch, get people's hopes up, and immediately let them down. You can't possibly say you don't *want* a mainline Pokemon game that you can also play on your TV, and in a half decent resolution to boot (and let's not forget that the 3DS can't hold a damn stable framerate on Sun and Moon). In addition, from a business perspective, making USUM for 3DS is a bad move. If it were made for the Switch, then the Switch would be assured good sales. But because they're making USUM for 3DS, the Switch's success is more or less up in the air right now. Hopeful, but no certainty.

For Pokemon Ultra Sun and moon they need to bring the PSS back, Festival Plaza is buns. I used to be able to be connected to the Internet and be playing the game at the same time. I could hatch eggs while also see battle or trade requests on the lower screen. With Festival Plaza I have to sit there the entire time doing nothing waiting for someone to challenge me or accept my challenge which is extremely boring. All that other crap like the dye shops and leveling shop was cool but I'd much rather have the PSS back. Also if Kanto post game isn't a thing....

i don't understand why people are reading just because switch isn't getting a main game. Do you seriously think it's that easy to make a new game for a new console? If I'm hand freak, I'll do my best to milk what ever i can from my engine, people and resources. Besides, do you honestly think this is going to suck? Pokemon black and white 2 is an entirely different game from the prequel. Even if it's just like emerald ill still play it. Pokemon main games are just amazing.

Guys, GameFreak always goes after the bigger install base. Nintendo Switch, while it seems to be selling well, still has a small install base (thanks in large part to Nintendo failing to meet demand). It's a completely reasonable business decision. I was. The comment section was a major salt bomb when they didn't confirm a Gen 4 remake. I admit that I wish they would have said something about it, but you know what? We have 3D models as a standard now and have no use for games like stadium Plus Battle Revolution was utter garbage and you should be ashamed for liking it. It didn't even have minigames like its superior Stadium predecessors for crying out loud

Fun fact: The only time we see anything related to gen IV is when they talk about putting fighters from the arcade to the Switch, where 3/4 of them are Sinnoh Pokémon. It's kinda disheartening, since I wanted DP remakes, but there's always next gen. I can wait (just not forever).

Well, I think I prefer to wait a little bit longer to have a remake of DP on the Switch instead of the 3DS. Although, I don't think making a Sun/Moon 2 (with a fusion with Necrozma, reminding me of Kyurem B/W2) is a really good idea. Nintendo is just milking right now, instead of really working on a real new Pokemon game or a real remake. That's a bit frustrating, but as I'm weak, I think I'll buy S/M2 and enjoy it as well as I enjoyed S/M
