Why limit yourself to Aron as a starter, why not pick another steel type to start with so that you're able to catch Aron naturally after first gym? Seems like a there are no set rules for a starter and you're already making the challenge easier by giving May a grass starter

Only 5 encounters. Almost not STAB super effective hits. Water types really walls steel types and Wallace is water type trainer Limited to mostly normal, steel and rock moves Yeah i can see why is hard

You should try with a level 5 Jirachi in Ruby or Sapphire. It was viable with the Colosseum Bonus Disk, and I bet it would give you enough of a leg up to make some of these battles more reliable. Or just make it too easy. Worth a shot either way I suppose.

For additional content ideas, I highly recommend Pokemon Unbound, it is absolutely the best fan game I've played. Unique starters, multiple difficulty settings including a sandbox mode, a daily sidequest system, the means to make a fully competitive team in a way that feels like a solid mid-point between vanilla tedium and cheaty pokemon editors, gyms and elite 4 with their own unique quirks, all in a very well done custom region. It has Dexnav, it has daily raids, IT HAS A CUSTOM SOUNDTRACK. Its just about everything you could want from a romhack. Even if you played it before, there was recently a 2.0 update that changed things massively; multiple route reworks, a full story rewrite, and much more.

To be honest it was refreshing to see a nuzlocke that wasn't possible. The only other thing you could have done was change your starter but that's not in the spirit of the challenge either. For challenges maybe a monotype run across a few of the mainline games where you rotate game for each major fight or gym leader. So you'd pick say grass types and choose your starter (you'd get to pick the first game) then do gym 1 before switching game to do that gym 2 and so on. You'd be free to pick the order however you see fit. Or you could try a monochrome run such as crystal with blue Pokémon

Starting with another pokemon would give you an Aron encounter at Granite Cave giving you at least 2 pokemons for watson and 3 for Flannery giving you a way better chance.

Tip for emerald nuzlockers: there are tutors of useful moves like rollout, swagger, mimic, double edge and tms like attract and torment available early on that nobody uses and can be good, just made the electric gym with a minum using rollout and shedinja stalling supersonic, theres even more gimmicks not used to expoit in this game!

this is actually possible I'd know because I did it I changed my starter to belldum and played the rest of the game pretty normally it wasn't a nuslock but it was still really really hard! I'd suggest giving it a try your self!😊

Beldum unfortunately only has access to take down until it evolves into metang. Best bet is probably Magnemite or Skarmory

@@leekyb3837 I would say mawile/aron is the best choice for early game (the challenge would be easier in ruby because you could catch the other early) And in Omega Ruby Mawile is part fairy and has a better physical movepool and alongside aggron can mega evolve

It would be challenging by itself, that's true, but the idea with this is that you keep the aron encounter at granite cave... obviously you're going to have a mora difficult Roxanne, but I think with one extra mon is barely doable

The only other thing you can try to increase your odds against Flannery is using attract. Even if you get past her by some stroke of a miracle. The run likely just dies to juan.

My favorite steel type pokemon is Skarmory, dont judge me. it looks cool, but appearance isnt the main factor. it has landed crit steel wings in sapphire for me 3 times in a row several times, and has clutched on 1 hp multiple times (even tho its ability was keen eye) overall, it has carried many battles and i love it lol

Beldum only has take down until he evolves, so he would kill himself before ever defeating roxanne because the level cap. And mawile in emerald can only be found in origin cave (granite cave encounter occurs only in ruby)

Yeah. That Fire type attempt you tried on FireRed reminds me of when I tried a Rock type Nuzlocke there. Since you ran into Geodude first, of course I picked that, and while I did make it past Brock, Misty is of course an insurmountable wall. With the highest Speed a Geodude could be at Level 22, you can't outspeed her Starmie, nor can you tank a Water Pulse with its highest Special Defense and HP. Plus even if you could survive it with the setup from the latter, you'll likely be weakened from Staryu's Water Pulses since you'll be slower than it, so it'll be a one-shot regardless. Honestly, with runs like these, I'd say it should be fine to raise the level cap a little higher on at least Gyms that you're weak to, if there's not a feasible way to get past them with your current setup of course. Like I'd say at most 5 or 10 levels above them, but that would probably make the rest of the game too easy once you do get past them. Just work it out in the Damage Calculator to be sure of the exact level you need if it's not too crazy and go from there.
