I was expecting miracle eye (a move more familiar with neutralizing the dark type immunity), but this is more practical, I guess.

Actually it was Miracle Eye (there is a frame where Alakazam has magical glasses over his eyes) but the Manga depicts Miracle Eye as a very complicated move, making Alakazam (due to it's intelligence) one of the rare cases to be able to use it.

Thank you so much! Yeah It is quite different but that's kinda refreshing as well! The fact that a Pokemon that knows 4 moves has to forget one to learn a new move, always bothered me tbh. So I think it's great the Pokemon in this adaptation have a higher ceiling in terms of their abilities!
