The problem is that Niantic refuses to believe that times have changed. People aren’t gathering as before COVID. We knew it was going to happen, but Niantic needs to be realistic. So, I guess I should be happy. Niantic is now saving me money - less raids from me! I think “new” players will be low. Pokémon Go is going on 7 years old. It’s not like the game has become MORE fun.

In raid groups alot of people just ignored some people suggesting a raid....but if someone else suggested a raid then everyone would go. I had to leave one of these groups since it happened to me. As a semi rural player with a semi active raid group it took its toll on me and other people since they played favorites and organizing was hard. Remote raids made things more flexible for many people.

100% agree. Before covid, my rural town player base would meet up once a week for raids and now it's hard to coordinate elite raids. Raising prices doesn't matter but it's to the point that when it's a normal raid, almost everyone does remote raids.

See my issue is if I'm out "exploring the world" and I see a t5 raid I want to do, I want to actually be able to do it. Not spend 20 minutes standing outside messaging on a local discord or campfire server trying to get people to leave their homes and come raid. With the current system I can just invite people who are online on my friends list and they join. I don't understand what I am expected to do now. Even in those local discords, most people prefer just to remote in instead of leaving their homes

I don't say this lightly... I think that, for a lot of hardcore players, this might be the end of Pokemon Go. We knew that remote passes were going to get nerfed because well, Niantic logic, but... This is bad. Really bad. I'm trying to look at this from their point of view... But I really can't. Less remote raids means less fun for players, less playability for rural players that rely on remote help, and less money for Niantic. Sure, they will force us to go outside more (the ultimate goal of the game), but... Why do that in a way that actively punishes players that love remote features? It would make more sense to add extra bonuses for in-person play, not detract from an already well-working remote raiding system.

I have a community (a real one of local players, not just PokeGenie or Discord) that use remote passes heavily. It lets us all play and interact even if we can't all group up at the same little-free-library at the same time. There are still people "going out" that invite the others. The restrictions only serve to penalize this sort of suburban group. San Fransico is not a representative player base of how many random players are around to hit every raid you stumble into.
@Mellowyellow8888 Жыл бұрын
lets face it.. this game has a quickly dwindling player base.. i live in a large suburb just outside a Metro city... theres a ton of gyms in the main city hall and mall areas.. Raid hours attracted zero players at the gyms.. even raid weekend barely attracted any players.. The only hardcore remaining players are in the metro city areas.. the raid discords in the metro areas are essentially slowed down to a scattering of requests every so often..

Niantic collects location data which is a bigger revenue stream for them. The first thing that can be done en mass is turning off adventure sync. The second thing is to turn off the sponsored messages setting in the game. If the player base denied some of what is valuable to Niantic then you might stand a better chance of being heard.
@MissMurderAU Жыл бұрын

It’s more about the price increase. If it was really about reverting the play style fine whatever, but keep the prices the same. They want to keep the same profit margins with the remote raids and few raids means more expensive. So if they had kept the prices there wouldn’t be as much backlash. Also the ending is a great message from Nick, but it really feels like Niantic told him to try and calm down the players because they knew a majority would be upset lol

As a rural player, if they don't want me to remote raid that badly they need to make it possible for me to go out on MY schedule and do raids. As a productive suggestion I would love to see the spontaneous spawning of raids done away with all together and some sort of new system where you can challenge a raid boss at any gym maybe once an hour, a tier of your choosing, perhaps with the roster at each gym rotating every day (this is obviously more for the tier 1 and 3 bosses). That would make raiding so much more accessible too everyone while being out and active like Niantic wants. It would be a lot easier for a community to get the players they have together at the same time to do in person raids if they could just go when they all had time and be guaranteed that raids will be available.
@truek1ng7 Жыл бұрын
I agree, if they want to change remote raid passes then they need to change how raids work all together so I can go out and do one on my time, It’s like they don’t realize people actually have jobs and don’t grind all day long like these KZbinrs lol
@shanewaltz5440 Жыл бұрын
This may be the most productive comment I've seen and a good point. I'd add further maybe make raid hours for Legendarys and megas just like raid hour very Wednesday, except for 2 hours each night. For example it could be laid out like this: Monday and Thursday from 6-7 Mega raids. Tuesday and Friday 6-7 Legendary raids. Then have Spotlight hours Wed from 6-7. Weekends it could alter like every 2 hours or something. All of this based on local time zones obviously. I feel this could at least keep some consistency and could be a start of players trying to coordinate meetups.
@igetboredproductions Жыл бұрын
Something I suggested is they just rework raids. Make them scale based on number of players. That way even if you have nobody to raid with you can still do them. Higher star raids would still be tougher, but in a range that is more doable. However, to encourage players to work as a community if they have one to actually play with, have the Pokemon scale up in power with the number of players. The Pokemon becomes tougher to beat the more players are in, but the rewards also scale up. More XL candy, boosted shiny rates. Stuff like that. Do away with time limits and instead have it be so you can't just hop back in after your Pokemon are all wiped out. If you don't have 6 Pokemon capable of taking down that 25k CP Mewtwo then you don't get that Mewtwo.
@stillshallow Жыл бұрын
This is such a great idea - I've have a 20 minutes wait for a bus every night next to a gym AFTER the raids have all finished - if I could initiate a challenge I'd probably do a raid every day instead of doing one every few weeks when I get out of work early.
@jitsnydzer6302 Жыл бұрын
@@igetboredproductions the scaling idea crossed my mind but I dont think Niantic would ever even consider it due to two issues. First off not requiring teamwork to take down a boss is the opposite of how Niantic wants the game to be played. Second, making things scaleable to a single player would be a nightmare in that what do they scale the boss based off of? They can't scale it off level because hardcore players would be able to solo a boss faster than if other people joined in while very casual players with poor teams of pokemon STILL wouldnt be able too even solo it. There's no metric in the game to determine YOUR specific capability to beat the boss and so the game would have no idea how to scale it appropriately. Honestly I think the difficulty of raids is in a decent place right now. I suspect the limit to raid passes will not dramatically effect the availability of remote raiders if you use a third party grouping app like poke genie but time will tell for sure.
@leorindraws Жыл бұрын

Here is what I have to say about this change. Before remote raids got introduced in 2020 I did not do a single 5 star raid boss. Not because I did not want too (Because I did!), it was just impossible for me to do one. I live in a more rural spot and not to many people play in my area. So I never had the fire power to actually complete a tier 5 raid since most Legendaries requires 5 or more Trainers to take it out. When Remote raid passes were introduced in the game it changed the way I played. And I like to think for the better. I was no longer watching other players in cities enjoy the game the way I wanted to. I was finally able to enjoy it the same way. It put me on an equal playing ground. Now that this change is going ahead and the full details have been revealed. In my honest opinion the change that I think is far unnecessary is the price increase for the passes. If we're only able to remote raid 5 times a day then why double the price? I feel like that is absurd. All the other changes that were listed I can live with and understand. And changing in person passes to be cheaper in the bundle is a decent start but Niantic has to do more than that. There are lots of ways they can do this. A couple of examples of how they can incentivize in person raiding is to make the base IV's of in person raid 11-11-11 instead of 10-10-10. This will push people to raid in person if they want to have a higher chance of getting better Pokemon. Another example is if (And they probably wont do) is to perhaps change the shiny rate to be slightly increased. Maybe not for Legendaries since they have a high shiny rate as it is but for all the other tiers of raids. Personally I don't see myself spending any money on the game anymore except for event tickets such as GO Fest.

Been playing since launch day, if Niantic doesn't reverse this, I'm 100% done with the game. I already uninstalled it yesterday and already told my wife and son to not ask for anymore coin purchases. Because I refuse to give anymore of my hard earned money to a company that is obsessed with constantly crapping on their player base. The 3 of us wouldn't even be able to raid at all without remote raid passes. We live in a very populated area, full of stops and gyms and not once have I ever had someone join a standard raid in person with us. The only time I've ever seen another player for an in person raid, was for an elite raid. Also being limited by work hours (not including weekends), leaves only 2-3 hours a day to even go out and do raids. And 99% of the time, the raids we want to do aren't spawned. I would love to do in person raids but it's simply NOT POSSIBLE. This is going to tank the raiding pool and queues and only result in significantly less raids being done overall.

Even if the raid pass doesn't get fully used untill the raid runs out of time or has been defeated.

I raid a lot, like I sometime do hundreds of raids a day, so this change to remote raid passes will definitely affect the way I play the game and at first I funnily enough went through all stages of grief; shock, denial, anger, bargaining, depression.. And as I came closer to acceptance, I realized, how much this move from Niantic actually was necessary and made a lot of sense. Here me out : Last week when Lugia came around I went hard for it as I do all legendaries I like, in 3 days I did 134 raids until I got the hundo, I was happy of course, but now that I’m done, after only 3 days remind you and not having to go out of my home once!! All from the confort of my couch which definitely isn’t the way the game was intended to be played, I won’t have to raid Lugia and be excited for him ever again when he comes back around.. Same went for Rayquaza, Mewtwo, Groudon and so on.. This is actually terrible for the game longevity, legendary pokemons should be exceptional, not everyone will agree of course, but legendary should be harder to get and not only a pay to win! It should be an adventure NOT something you can do from your bed while masturbating. There are a finite amount of legendary pokemons out there to get excited for, and now I start to understand why old players aren’t excited anymore when Lugia comes back for the 10th time. So I feel like being limited to 5 will make them be special again, rarer, and the game harder which is good. Obviously I realise most people don’t even raid more than once a day, or 5 for that matter, I know how privileged I am and others to be able to spend in game and raid like crazy, this will definitely level the playing field for everyone, which for a game balance is good guys. And finally but maybe the most important, what if this move actually makes people go out again to their local gyms!! Let’s be honest when is the last time you did that on purpose. Why would you go out to a gym and raid it locally if it costs the exact same as doing it remotely! There are no incentives. So adding this limit could be that incentive people needed, you want to do more than 5 raids per day, well you need to go out there and get it! That said I obviously don't approve of the price increase to the passes.. That just sucks but yeah. So next time that I want to go hard for a legendary, Entei for exemple (my favorite), I’ll be keeping my 5 daily remote passes for remote invites from my friends (especially those living in rural areas that need the most help) and when legendary eggs are hatching in my area I will actually go there to raid it, which is crazy to me because I started playing in 2021 so i’ve only known the game with remote raid passes. And this game actually never really pushed me to go outside, I never felt the need and I made it to level 50 in like 1 year. I did go outside for community days or go fest of course but that's pretty much it. So yeah people don't like change but lets not forget this was always intended as a temporary feature during covid lockdown. Lets all be positive about things and try to enjoy the game or whats the point of even playing. And yes I know some people don’t have legs, some people have issues, some people are fat lazy Americans living in a farm.. that's not my point, I just wanted to share my point of view from my perspective. All Love from Paris ❤

I gotta admit, I wasn't expecting to feel... emotional? about this. I've been a fairly quiet player of Pokemon Go so far. Started on Day 1 and loved the options they added because of the pandemic. Eventually I kind of fell off for a while until they introduced the Daily Incense, and that was a huge motivator to play again. It was nice to get back into things like spotting fellow players out in the wild, getting excited over new shinies, playing with my international friends and getting legendaries with cool geotags... and even with all the bullshit Niantic has been pulling, I had hoped that would continue. I don't think that's possible anymore. I think you're absolutely right: the location and mapping data they're getting from us is more valuable than the player experience. However, I also think you're underestimating the player base. Millennials Kill Industries, remember? If Niantic wants to blow up PokeGo, that's okay. It's their game and they can do that if they want. As a community, we can ensure they get razed to the ground along with it.

There's no real-world cost to compare it to, and the new price isn't so crazy that it would be obvious to a new player that it was "expensive". We can all do something when we are unhappy with a product and the decisions made about the product. We can stop giving them money for that product, we can stop engaging with that product, we can try to have some empathy with the people who will be left out in the rain when decisions like these are made and tell that company that they are doing bad by their customers. And at the end of the day, if all of that doesn't help? Yes. That was a super depressing video. Honestly, I've been playing less already. I'm level 50. I had a good run. And then I enjoyed the heck out of remote raiding-sometimes with people worldwide and more often just because I can see 8 gyms from home and hanging out with my PokemonGo bestie & chatting/snacking while we raided and caught up on each others' weeks was fun. My son has a virtual dance class w other kids w Down syndrome at 6:30 on Wednesday nights. I could put him in class and resume raiding remotely. I'm a mom. My life doesn't and can't center around Niantic's need to data mine/map build. If they stick to this, I guess I'm done. :( RIP Pokemon Go. I had fun my way. Sorry that's not good enough for Niantic.

The real decision is because their primary revenue stream (collecting location data) has been curtailed. So their change is great from a business point of view. 1) You can encourage some people to play the way you intended (to collect more valuable data) and 2) You increase the cost to offset the capital lost from those who want to continue raiding remotely. Its purely business and most likely based on solid numbers.

I agree.I can’t open the app with my location service off.Sometimes I just want to look at my collection.l don’t need to interact with a gym to do that.

The issue I have is that there are all these raids happening where I live but no one is there to do the raid. So I have to use a remote raid pass to get the Pokémon I want. The other issue is that it isn’t safe to walk over to do a raid like before. So there is no way I’m walking around alone just to do a raid knowing that I might not find anyone to raid with. Things are not the same as before the whole place shut down. The only time I raid in person in Comm Day because ppl go to the park and play. I understand what Niantic wants but things are not the same as when they started.

Over the last month or two, I've really reduced my gameolays after almost 7 years of grinding. The game just feels stale now, and the never ending, back-to-back-to-back events just get old.

This game should be about all players, not just those that can go out and raid. I have paid for and done a lot of remote raids over the last two years that I would not have otherwise done. Ironically of course Niantic will lose a lot of money with this change so a definite own goal for them. Shame they don’t consider everyone when making these changes.

This game is the walk version for Pokémon. Its not meant for players who cant walk because they obviiously are not able to do what the gameplay is about. Walking is a basic part of the gameplay. Its not a online game you play at home, its a real world outdoor activity game. You cant make outdoor acitivies compatible for every person in this world.

Don't buy any. Send a message, they're not worth 2 dollars each. Maybe they should fucking just incentivize in person raids instead of punishing players who need remote raid passes. Sorry, but stop defending Niantic

I came back to the game a year ago and live in a rural area .but even in the more populated cities around me I never got to raid with other people . player groups in discord etc are abandoned for years ,so this was the only way for me to raid with my irl friends all over the world . this will now come to an end , I believe . congrats to niantic for digging PoGos grave .

Trainer tips has always been pro Niantic so I'm not surprised about the video. What bugs me is that there are known psychological tricks to get people to buy real money into the game. The price at 195 and 525 and not 200 and 500 shows that they want to play that psychological game with their players. Its difficult to understand why they need more money since their profits are astronomical. If they really wanted to nerf the remote pass just do lets say a max of 3 remotes raids per day but keep the actual prices. The other thing could be blocked are thoses youtube charnel that provides live raids.you could block it by preventing to join a remote raid from new friends. I do not believe this was the optimal way to deal with the issue. I have uninstalled in the mean time will see in the future if I reinstall it :)

As someone who doesn't remote raid at all (certainly not more than 5 in a day anyway), im massively indifferent to this. Though saying that, the price increase is a little rough. That's the killer. I think these changes need balancing out a little more as it feels a little extreme.

My ENTIRE community and friend group that played, don't even talk anymore. Game got worse, we all moved on, now it's just memories. It's sad, this game could have gone on for a lifetime. Instead it seems Niantic wants people to forget it so they can move on to Peridot and cut out a third party for profit. Let me know how that goes, Niantic... anyone remember Transformers Go? Or any of the other failed Wanna-Be Go spin offs?

Out of every update... This is the update youre complaining about niantics greed? + i think its kinda weird that in other games like coc everyone is like "well supercell need to make money somehow" and its fine. While in pokemon go niantic gets sooo much shit for even touching the shop. Weird...

The type of emotional manipulation and abuse this company has twisted on it’s player base and the lack of two way communication makes it hard for people to be able to really preach what they feel at a given time. Each time they do something like this, it feels like an ever lower point. It gets exhausting to constantly react to bad news and speak on it, especially if the company KEEPS doing it with no remorse
@WillSheltonXx Жыл бұрын
Agreed, I legit just put down the game now because of how boring and bland it is. Niantic has a system of rewards and way the game feels, they really don’t change in the aspect of what the player experiences. If they add a couple new features they take away some too. I’m tired of constantly being in search of that dopamine hit from catching a rare and exclusive (behind a paywall) Pokémon. It is just way too unhealthy of a game to try to compete with other players on. The amount of time this game drains out of your life is really sad..

The problem isn't the remote raid passes; the problem is groups are so closed off that no one can get into raids. They need to fix how raids work and add an official chat room so we can coordinate. They could also just pre-determine raids so we can better plan raids. Why is Niantic so Anti-player?

Although I was initially not a fan of remote raiding, I eventually started to appreciate it as a unique way to maintain international friendships while catching some limited available Pokémon. It was nice while it lasted.... However, I do believe that remote raiding needed a change, but the current changes are not ideal. In my opinion, certain restrictions should be added to only allow inviting people who live for example more than 500(?) km away from you, so that inviting others would not negatively impact your local community. The current changes not only make remote raiding more expensive but also kill maintaining the international friendships that we've built over the past few years. They seem to forget rural areas also excist? R.I.P. #PokémonGO

@@ricardozegers6023 Niantic are an AR and location data selling company first, game developer second. To follow their 'vision' they are going to continue making these changes that make the game more and more annoying to play. Walking away now before the game gets to that point is the best option. Still, I don't feel like quitting, but I haven't played nearly as long. I assume for him, leading a revolution over making a mobile game slightly less predatory doesn't seem worth the effort at this point.

The sad thing is remote raids really do encourage in-person raiding; I know I can't win 4-5 star raids in person without them outside of randomly running into people on weekends with events. Frankly, I wish they'd just bumped up the local raid bonuses. Take inspiration from the Community Day 4 stars; have local 3-4 star raids spawn related pokemon (Swampert spawns Mudkips for 30 minutes, let's say). Increase the shiny odds of local raids. Increase bonuses... say more stardust?

I remember pre-2020 when Heatran was released. Not a game-breaking legendary by any means, but approaching 6pm (when new raids used to be released) our local group chat was on fire to coordinate for the first Heatran. There ended up being 10-15 of us all gathered along the sidewalk, in the dark, just for a single raid - and to make it even more exciting, when my friend announced he got a hundo, everyone cheered! I hear the accessibility concerns limiting remote raids creates, but damn I would love to have more community experiences like that first Heatran. 🔥
