This was a fantastic start to a new series! Liko is probably the most relatable MC we got in years. I've known Friede for only one episode and he's already my favourite character. He's so cool like Kukui. I also liked Sprigatito. It acted like a real cat and I'm a cat person. I'm giving this episode a score of 9/10.

Was Kukui also this stupid in the anime??? Because going through a thunderstorm with a kid and baby mons on board is a horribly bad idea and it didn't even work because they caught up anyways. Also using Pikachu and his electric attacks in the middle of a rainy thunderstorm when everyone there is wet from the rain is stupid beyond belief. Good guy but extremely cocky and stupid from what I have seen so far. Also are the barriers around the battle field supposed to be THAT weak?? Because that might as well not be there with how useless it was 😅

@@me2552 Cocky and extreme doesn't justify bad decision making when actual lives are on the line. If everyone knows that he is THIS cocky and extreme why is he the one making these decisions anyways?? Its like giving the access to artillery to the most trigger happy person on the team. Thats just asking for a disaster. Trying to lose them in the storm doesn't even make sense though because that is actually endangering the lives of everyone there when the ship and the folks there definitely dont seem to be equipped to deal with a storm like that. Also on a side note how slow is that ship that the three metal birds can so easily catch upto it WHILE its being "boosted" by the fire Pokemon inside AND the ship having a head start on them. Like seriously that is one slow ship 😅 Nowhere on the episode was it even hinted that the barrier was weakened because of power cut and that wouldn't even make sense anyways. If is power dependant then when the power is cut then the barrier is down altogether and if it is running on some backup power then that shouldn't impact the strength of the barrier rather it should only impact how long the barrier is up. But no the barrier itself is very weak to the point is borderline pointless especially for the place the battle field is set up at. Am I being too petty and pedantic by over analysing this stuff?? Probably yeah but I like looking deeper into media I enjoy so I just notice these things lol 😅

The start of Liko's journey reminds me so much of the beginning of Dawn's journey, the same way her starter doesn't trust her, runs off, loses in battles, gets in trouble. They even have somewhat similar blue hair as well

To be honest, so far I love this new series, characters, story, the mystery, animation, how it looks, music. This has made me really excited. I’d give the fort two episodes 9 or 10 out of 10. I was already happy to see Sprigattio was gonna be the main characters main Pokemon as it’s my favourite starter from gen 9, but watching the episode I like him/her even more. The fact the jewel Liko has is connected to the upcoming dlc for scarlet and violet is interesting, probably will be more connected to SV and it’s dlc’s. Loved the battles, the pacing and strategy’s used were really goo and engaging. Love Liko and the characters on the ship, and the Pokemon they have up there make sense. The new baddies are cool and I like there Pokemon. Just overall, lots of fun and hype. Definitely a good start, just hope it continues and gets better and we find out more of what’s happening. Pokemon horizons, love that name. 💫

The move Sprigatito used was a very powerful Leafage attack, it's a reference to when team rocket first encountered Pikachu at the Pokemon center and Pikachu used a very unusually strong Thunderbolt attack which caused team rocket to think of Ashes Pikachu being unusually strong and perfect for their boss Giovanni.

It was an unusually powerful Thundershock in OG Ep2 actually. Not Thunderbolt. The first instance of Thunderbolt was in “Showdown in Pewter City”. But yeah, the super Leafage was totally a reference to OG Eps 1 (also happened due to a storm against the flock of Spearow) & 2, and I didn’t even notice until you pointed it out. I was thinking it was maybe like a Leaf Storm or something as it wouldn’t be the first time a Pokémon used a much higher level move than it should know in a desperate situation. But now that you mention it, I think you’re definitely right about it being a reference.

I actually haven’t watched the early OG eps in a while, but knew Pikachu didn’t get Thunderbolt til a bit later and looked up the exact episode so I could say when exactly he learned it so I had all the facts before commenting. Thank you for pointing out the reference. I’d watched it three times and since I hadn’t seen the OG episodes in a while, I thought it was another instance of an underleveled Pokémon suddenly pulling off a high level move in a dire situation ‘til you pointed it out.

This is a great point! In my opinion, the best character development is when a character grows and changes, but they still keep what makes them... well, *them*. If Liko completely lost all of her apprehension/caution, if she just became Ash 2.0, then that would be disappointing in my eyes. Let's hope the writers can treat her right! 😁

For now, I'm really happy with Riko's character, very relatable. But I'm very scared that this side of her will be completely forgotten as her character grows and she'll just become Ash 2. And I'm scared that she'll get too OP too. I mean a pendant that can protect her from anything and a Sprigatito with incredibly a strong attack. I mean if it's handled properly, it can work, but will it be ? That's the question. I really really like Riko, and I want her to be properly written. And I'm afraid she won't always be considering how Ash used to be well-written but was an annoying Gary Stu in the latest seasons. So a lot of hopes but also of worries considering Riko's future as a character. Also Captain Pikachu is a badass and I want to see more of him too.

It was tough for me to watch the whole thing without subtitles, BUT i did thankfully roughly understand it! i love Liko as a character, she's just shy and tries to keep herself composed around others. I can already see great character development possibly forming, as well as character bonding and maybe some Antagonist story? I don't know if we'll get that far but i can see this anime POSSIBLY carrying itself for a good while! i'm also glad that she mentioned her parents. It should be clear now that Ash is 100% NOT her father, and people will start to realize it was a REALLY desperate attempt to bring ash back into the anime. But that does mean that we're more likely to see him, since she IS traveling. I just hope they spend the majority of their time in Paldea, because they did NOT do the same in Journeys. Galar would have been a really good region for ash to be in, but he barely went there. These first few episodes already showed me that i can expect great things, though- i'm ALREADY wishing for more seasons haha

I like Liko and Sprigatito so far...and Captain (Professer?) Fried is super badass too. And so is his Pikachu. The fact his Pikachu can balance on its tail is just awesome lol. But for real...these first two episodes were a good way to start off this series. Seeing Ceruledge in the anime was awesome. I love that Fried's airship houses many different kinds of Pokemon. That's awesome by itself. I hope Liko can save her newfound partner in episode 3. I can't wait to see what happens next. It was amazing.

They definitely needed to deviate from the normal plots of the games, as well as experiment with new stuff. Not having any previously established game characters help so much with making this series its own thing. Having a character who had nowhere to go but up was a long time coming, and having the grandmother instead of the mother giving her the pendant allows for so many fan theories about her family tree.

I'm honestly tempted to watch it and actually thinking about getting my little brother into it when he's old enough As for the move, I think it was Thunder, which has perfect accuracy and I think higher power during rain I love that Captain Pikachu is so distinct from Ash's Pikachu, including having a different moveset to make him stand out more as his own character rather than just a repeat despite being the same species. Nicely done! Can't wait to see your videos on future episodes!

I watched this show as it aired on TV Tokyo. I will say, I love Riko as a main character. She isn't Kanto Satoshi, though they share a few tropes.... The intro sequence gives away Roy's (Roi) Pokemon as Fuecoco. The battle animations looked great, and even Riko almost got blasted, but being saved by an energy shield was cool. The story with her pendent is a neat plot device. Her Pokemon getting kidnapped in the first episode was a little lame but we all know she will get it back. But we all know the star of the show is Captain Pikachu. He looked like an absolute boss!! Hopefully, Riko and Roi will meet many new Pokemon and now I can speculate on their teams..... But my question now is, will Riko and Roi be our new protagonists for the long-haul or will they replace the main characters with each new generation?

Yeah and she’s a character that has given up on making friends thanks to that rebellious sprigatito I hope she can trade it away for a Pokemon that actually listens to her, if not abandon it and get a new different Pokemon that would listen to her more loyaly And Roy is her biggest rival and a bully that she wants to defeat with all her will And Friede is a relentless and unscrupulous mercenary who is best if Liko doesn’t let him learn about and least of all find her pendant and steal it He would use it for malevolent plans and ways

@@crocokuo I’ve seen images of this good anime, but also I can relate with her with the fact that probably where she came from she had friends but she doesn’t think she should try and make friends in the info academy because she’s too different to ever be friends with the others because this academy is in kanto, right? And she would be seen as an unwanted outsider and a misfit, also the sprigatito treats her trainer badly and we know she isn’t like ash (who could man up to the challenges ahead of him), Liko is more of a loner and that pendant of her is know to not only have incalculable value but also has an astonishing power that in the wrong hands would mean disaster That’s why it would be great if sprigatito would listen to her(but if she doesn’t, we’ll some punishment of the physical and the emotional would make it listen to her), she should never let anyone know about the pendant because if they know, they will hunt down Liko and try to steal it The Rising Volt Tacklers are some of those people, mercenaries that would love to steal Liko’s pendant to do all sorts of evil deeds I believe in villains wiki they would appear as mercenaries As for Roy, he is her biggest rival that would make fun of her a lot (he’s just another Gary oak. Or a rival like Bede if you want to compare Roy with him) And I would love nothing more than for Liko to teach him a lesson and even make him give up in being a Pokemon trainer Those two would be the fiercest rivals, maybe even archenemies to each other That’s how I believe it is for poor Liko She only has her Pokémon (sprigatito and whatever other Pokémon she catches) because she doesn’t trust anybody, not a single person and would end up going her entire journey alone in the entire series Because she doesn’t have a single friend in that region nor will have any That what I believe how it is
