They're really giving these characters the time to develop. It's one of the few things Journey sort of lacked. Three episodes in and the series is still focusing on Liko rather than jumping to our next main character.

First different writers. Second they have an actual person overseeing the story which is Dai Sato, he makes sure the story is well adapted and he decides who the writers are, for example this episode writer as never worked in Pokemon before but he has worked with Dai Sato in another anime. So far the writers have been chosen well.

Well, if the writers of the previous show were doing scripts that made things occur out of nowhere, it's pretty much the same mess that Gen 8 was. So with bad writers and directors whom didn't care about making stories previous from Gen 7 and before, well, you end up with what they did previously. BUt that's just me.

Also, the first director of journeys (Kodaira) mainly wanted most of the episodes to focus on Ash and Goh which came at the cost of the world building. I can say, that these 3 episodes we have seen is nothing to be compared to Journeys at all since one person is overlooking the anime.

My score is 9/10. This was really nice finale for Liko introduction story arc. The Explorers are really interesting so far (probaly more then orginal team rocket), and Conia reaction to Sprigatito is really nice. For the team Rising Volt Tacklers so far my favorite character is Mollie, since she don't look like atypical Nurse Joy. So in few next episodes we are going to Paldea region, and I can't wait to see more.

Mollie's design made me think she might be related to nurse joy in this episode. I get One Piece vibes from the Rising Volt Tacklers. Their relationship reminds me of the Straw Hat Pirates. Just like One Piece villains, I love they showcase Explorers personalities such as Conia. My favorite part on Horizons is when they showcase the Paldean Pokémon early. In Journeys, the Galarian starters get shafted after being caught by Goh as it progresses. I was surprised how many gen 8 Pokémon, moves, and a lot of characters didn't debut in Journeys. I'm glad to see Sprigatito alright safe and sound. I hope Liko catches Fidough or maybe Thandemus, evolving into Maushold, Family of Four. I'm excited to see Roy and Fuecoco interaction in the upcoming episodes. I love how it's a contrasting parallel to Goh and Scorbunny. In episode 5 of Journeys, Scorbunny secretly follows Goh to the Wild Area in Galar. In episode 5 of Horizons, Roy comes to see Fuecoco. This one is just a speculation, but I have strong feelings about Liko's grandmother either on a long journey or she passed away before Horizons started. This is just a speculation.

As happy as I am about the anime being serious again, it is a shame that Journeys wasn't like this. I think many fans would of loved it if a mature Ash left the series. It all began when BW began disregarding Ash's character throughout the past series. BW undoes all the years of Ash's experience as a trainer just so he can become a incompetent Trainer again. XY undoes that and begins to mature Ash. SM reverts that and makes Ash act like a kid again, although this time they keep his experience as a Trainer so he isn't acting like a beginner Trainer again. Journeys tries its best to merge all these versions of Ash into a definitive version of the character. Hopefully now with Liko being the main character, we won't have her character be inconsistent in the future.

with the subtitles, it's revealed that cap and friede were stalling for time, so it's possible that they could be more evenly matched than originally thought. For me, keeping it obscured as to who would actually win in a battle by having their matches continuously interrupted is a good thing as neither can for sure be labeled weaker than the other. Still, the more I learn about this show, the more the fan theory that Liko might be related to Ash becomes more and more unlikely. I mean the necklace is not from her father but from her grandmother, which we saw as a silhouette at the beginning of episode 3 and she doesn't remind me to any of the Pokemon-Girls. Plus Ashs home is in Alabastia in Kanto, but Liko comes from Paldea and only enters the Pokemon school in Kanto. So either the series is set even further into the future and Ash is not Likos father but grandfather, or , to the dissapointment of many Pokemon fans, Liko has nothing to do with Ash after all. But from the current evidence, I find the second option more likely.

I’m loving Pokémon horizons 🎉❤🙏🏻😻😻😻😻 I absolutely love liko and Sprigatito I love how her personality is so different from ash! However at the time same there is similarities like Liko breaking open a locked door with brute force, Jumping off building for sprigatitos, jumping from tree branch to tree branch fast. Having trouble with Sprigatito and now they’ve a close bond. I adore it all. Just like ash and pikachu had trouble when they began 26 years ago then had a close bond within the next episode😻 all the time ash jumped off buildings, busted opened locked cages and lifted trees etc! I’m loving this!! I also love how Freede gives me adult ash vibes! Pokémon horizons is amazing

I think the nurse joy looks like the ones from ash’s journey is because that’s the regular kanto nurse design seen in the first generation of Pokémon so this does not confirm that liko and ash are in the same universe

You know, this seems to prove that Pokémon Horizons does take place in the original anime series canon, I wonder where this series takes place in the timeline? I mean like are we far into the future where Ash and the others have grown up or does this take place around the time of Ash's journeys. I guess we'll find out eventually.

Okay so I got to watch the episode. Yeah Riko is a relatable anxious girl, and I totally get it. What I found interesting is how the Rising Volt Tacklers said they were hired by Riko's mom to protect Riko, and they go to Paldea in order to get paid for it. It seems like the story delves more into the mother side of Riko's family, which likely wouldn't be the case if Ash was her father, so that's a relief for me that Ash likely isn't Riko's father. Riko is very well written, but even though my doubts about her start leaving, I still have a few, like with that strong Leafage in episode 2 and also in episode 3. In episode 3, it's not as strong as the one in episode 2, but Conia still makes a remark on how this is stronger than an average Leafage. How is Riko doing this ? She's just a Rookie trainer. It's probably the pendant giving strength to Sprigatito since it's likely to be some kind of special Tera Orb. But that's what raises my concerns. The pendant is able to protect Riko and it's able to make her Pokemon's attacks stronger. For now she's not very strong so it just puts her on an equal foot with everyone else so it's fine, but as she gets stronger and as she understands how the pendant works, she might get too OP. But putting that aside, I'm surprised that you didn't mentioned how great the ending song is, and how they made the Pokerap in a new style.

Yeah, I looked closely as Likos grandmother in episode 3 and her hair was a blue close to hers. It's definitely not Serena's nor ash's so that is proof! Though you could say she looks a little like dawns mom it's not likely since the hairstyle is different and the voice

Personally I dont agree with the take of Amethio seeming a lot stronger than Friede, in their past two battles. It appeared that Friede was much stronger than him. I feel like Friede wasnt taking the battle seriously, he was just buying time. Whereas on the airship, and on the school rooftop when he battled with Charizard. He was solidly winning against Amethio.

That's valid! To me personally, it just felt like Ceruledge was easily blocking and brushing off every attack that Pikachu/Charizard threw at him. Even Pikachu's huge thunder-powered Volt Tackle was quite easily blocked and brushed off by Ceruledge. Pikachu was taking hits heavier than Ceruledge was in my eyes, plus Ceruledge was seemingly speedier than Pikachu/Charizard. So to me, I felt Amethio/Ceruledge was shown to be stronger than Friede. But as with all battles, it's totally subjective! So it's fine if you think Friede was stronger 😁

That flag Roy found at the end was the one blown by lightning in ep2, right? So his island must be close to Kanto. Especially as only gen1 mons live there.
