I remember, back on its official release date, I bought Pokémon Diamond and not more than 3 hours into the game when I was on Eterna Forest, I encountered a full odds shiny female Buneary! It also had the Run Away ability and so I knew it would have Cute Charm when it evolved into Lopunny (I studied up on the game up until release date)! I was so stoked! I nicknamed her Luscious and she was a Contest Star Veteran! She took 1st in every rank of the Cuteness contests she was in while in Diamond! I eventually transferred her up into Omega Ruby and she dominated all ranks of the Cuteness contests in Hoenn, too! She is now officially retired from contests and resides safely in my copy of Pokémon Shield! I've had her for so many years and she's my most prized Pokémon I own!

The first and ONLY ever shiny Pokémon I encountered (to my knowledge, as I didn’t know about shiny Pokémon when I was young) was a shinx on Pokémon platinum. I was so excited because i think it’s one of the coolest looking shiny Pokémon I’ve ever seen. I caught it and carried on for about 2 minutes until my game crashed as my DS was very old and I was forced to turn it off, only to go back on and realise I forgot to save the game. To this day it still haunts me and also remains my only ever shiny encounter. Fs in the chat

Relatable. That happened to me while playing Pokemon Gold. I apparently caught a shiny Pidgey. It showed the ✨️ symbol in the summary beside its name. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what made it different from a normal Pidgey... This was back during the "dial-up" days of the internet, so I couldn't even Google search it. Turns out it was pretty special after all! At the time, I really didn't think much of it though lol.

It seems more plausible that someone who is cheating would have the means to make sure an error like that wouldn't happen. I believe it is fake, (atleast the chimchar) the rivals starter at the beginning is female, which is not possible because the gender of their pokémon is hardcoded into the game and not based on chance. The rivals starter will always be male unless you force your own starter to be shiny. You can also notice that the rival's starter changes to a male at the next battle.

I love finding shinies but I'll never specifically hunt them, especially in older titles. Way too much work for a payoff that, while novel, isn't especially worth it imo. This definitely creates an interesting dynamic in the context of a Nuzlocke though, since your control over your encounters is just as low as normal, but unless you're willing to spend tens of hours hunting shinies you'll get significantly less encounters than normal.

Craziest Pokemon story I have. Pokemon emerald I saved and then encountered a shiny shuppet. I was a kid and thought my game boy was having a glitch and so I turned the game off. Turned it back on and encountered ANOTHER shiny shuppet. Which unfortunately confirmed my “game boy is glitched” theory. So naturally I turned the game off again. It took until 2016 before I found another shiny Pokemon. I called it the shiny curse.

I think you could avoid the Lopunny sack by just using the Drain Punch over Dizzy Punch hoping for a confusion that was not guaranteed, so quite the mistake and not sure what was going on with Giratina fainting, but overall great job.
