That actually plays in every battle; it's a feature only common with the second or later loop of the track (and the previous battles are usually too short to reach that point). Most KZbin extensions of the track only use the first loop, so you never hear it there. The fact that it started when Crobat got sent out was coincidental.

Brings back memories. Platinum was my first Pokemon game back in 2009 when I was about 9 and now I'm almost 20! I never understood Pokemon typings at the time so I had an over-levelled Infernape and 5 weak under-levelled Pokemon which is why this battle was so challenging... Especially because of that Gyarados with Earthquake.

This guy was an amazing boss battle. He had all of his pokemon have a counter move towards the pokemon-type that could counter his pokemon. I would always remember that his team had such a strong defense too, and I could never finish any of his pokemon off with one move: except Houndoom.
