Alola's animations were a way better especially in battles . It was the face design plus bad story of starting 20-30 episodes which spoiled it other wise story of rest of the episodes and everything else like animations were totally perfect.

Ash, why would you be scared of pikachus thunderbolt when you been thunderbolts like 100 times by him, I bet you wouldn't flinch a bit with your experience, but still, I though Veronica Taylor voiced Ash here, he sounds spot on. And for Pikachu, how can you expect Ash to win first try (since you didn't win first try, and what if Ash did the same thing), Still, great animation.

this is not a parallel universe the pokemon are sick and tired of battling so they made their owners battle instead and get their revenge. It even showed pikachu saying how ash beleived in pikachu when pikachu still battled other pokemon and it even showed all the flashbacks of pikachu losing pokemon battles.
