I was using a Blastoise in my playthrough and imagine the joy I felt when I clicked Hydro Pump and saw that my favorite Pokémon is finally using its cannons after 10 years. However, I'm not sure what other moves trigger this though, since the other moves I had on it: Dragon Pulse and Ice Beam, were both shot from its forehead again. (After further testing, the only other move I've observed Blastoise using its cannons for is Hydro Cannon)

I believe Venusaur has a special animation for Power Whip, like Blastoise with Hydro Pump. Also, they kept Rillaboom's animation but took out Cinderace's and Intelleon's? Jeez, i'd say they played favorites with the competitive one of the trio, but they stripped Incineroar and his fellow Alolan starters of their animations too. Don't get me wrong, glad they finally gave Blastoise a proper animation for his water cannons, even if it's just Hydro Pump, but still, they can leave the animations in for the other mon's can't they?

Out of curiosity, are there some moves that trigger Delphox’s wand animation or it was entirely removed? The reference sheet showed that Magical Fire actually came from the mouth while the wand was supposed to be used only for the initial circle, so this new animation might be deliberate, even though still simplified compared to the original concept.

I guess you could say Blastoise using Hydro Pump is a signature move but not the normal definition we use. Would solarbeam be Venusaur's choice using the same logic as Blastoise or Charizard? Razor leaf or vine whip is more used with the line but it would be wierd if the other starters got thier strong moves. Dont get me wrong Solarbeam works fine in context. By putting both you knew what we would be thinking, a normal person might skip kanto starters with missing info or skip starter hyper beams
