While that would be interesting, I think that the gen 7+ starter pokémon had their signature moves carefully crafted into specifically fit their theme and anatomy without most of the other pokémon being able to replicate them. It also gives an excuse to let the starters stand out amongst their peers in order to give people a reason to keep them in their teams since no other pokémon can do those moves. (Incineroar's Darkest Lariat is an exception for some reason). Who knows, perhaps we'll get another musical themed fire type, or an archer bird, or grass magician? I think you’re massively overstating how “bad” Leaf Blade is for Sceptile. Yes, Sceptile is built for Special Attacks and the mismatch is unfortunate, but it’s not like Sceptile sets never run Leaf Blade. Like you mentioned, Sceptile’s movepool is geared towards physical attacks. It sometimes runs physical Swords Dance sets, in which case Leaf Blade is its primary STAB option. Compared to Emboar’s Heat Crash or Blaziken’s Blaze Kick, or even Inteleon Snipe Shot, Sceptile gets much more use out of Leaf Blade.

one of the interesting aspects of Water Shuriken is that its surprisingly effective w/King's rock when the flinch chance works, especially if Greninja can come in behind a substitute and/or is able to have Evasion stacks as long as there's no water immune mons. I can still recall my Greninja flinching a human opponent's venusaur for legit over 10 turns straight from Water Shuriken Spam w/King's rock flinch chance activating back in da x & y days. sure the chance is low since you're more than likely to hit 2-3 times rather than 4-5 but it weirdly works decently well 🤔 as for da High Crit rate moves like Leaf Blade/Blaze Kick, those're some of my fave moves, esp Blaze Kick's animation in the Colosseum/Battle Revolution spin-off series. sure their power/accuracy(for Blaze Kick) may be their weak point but the high crit ratios really nice. Another problem with Muddy Water is that you’ll probably have already Surf from beating Norman before Swampert gets Muddy Water at level 39, and Marshtomp only gets it if you hold off evolving it to Swampert for one level at 37

Actually Swampert gets Muddy Water at Level 46. I know because I have personally used Swampert.
@Jlaps9412 ай бұрын
@@marioipod you’re probably misremembering because Serebii, Bulbapedia, and PokemonDB list Swampert learning Muddy Water at 39 from gens 3-7 and 42 in gens 8 & 9. He does learn protect at 46 in gens 3-5 and XY and doesn’t learn anything at 46 in ORAS or gens 7-9

When i was doing my first playthrough of violet. i just used torchsong and swept every team once i had the evolution. pumping special attack every turn, made it to where was one shotting with 1/2 or 1/4 effectiveness still.

Darkest Lariat haunts me as it is the best move the Unrivaled Incineroar brings when you keep your defense very high via Psych Up from it's Bulk Up spam.

Flower Trick is basically Slash and Razor Leaf in gen 1, which would crit nearly 100% the time, only difference is that Flower Trick never miss and have higher base atk. l'm a huge fan of the entire Sprigatito line but who the fk thought that bring back the most broken thing in gen1 but on steroids was a good idea? 😂

I use to use mystical fire during that gen. It actually worked pretty well and helped me rank higher than I have before 😂 I would run a full defense/Sp. Defense delphox with will-o-wisp, mystical fire, grass knot, & psyshock with a weakness policy.

I really hope the gen 3 starter's signature moves get a facelift. Blaze Kick really should be a physical flamethrower if they buffed it's accuracy and damage. Muddy Water should at least be as good as surf. And honestly, Leaf Blade needs no buffs, but Sceptile aught to get a stat rework to better allow the pokemon to use its signature.

Here’s a little tip for everyone: go on Pokémon showdown, stabmons, skill link cloyster, shell smash, water shuriken, any other moves you want. Throw a fire and grass type in there for coverage and win games.

I know its not a signature move but i really think Infernape goes really nice with Fire Blitz. Maybe its because Diamond was the first game I ever played, or because the anime really did an amazing job with Ash's Infernape. And, with Fire Blitz being introduced in Gen 4, where if you didn't choose Infernape probably you didn't had a fire type on your team. Nice video

i hope the johto, sinnoh and kanto starters get signature moves in the future, it would be pretty fun to speculate on what moves they could get, especially with the ones that dont see much action like meganium maybe some sort of grass type hex for venusaur, or a move for meganium that works like giga drain but heals all active party members that you have out (maybe 50% for singles and doubles like giga drain, but 33% in triples? idk, not like triples is a super important format) something like ceaseless edge for torterra but with stealth rock could be interesting an idea i had for blastoise could be a multi-hitting water type move that always hits either 2 or 4 times, and knocks down flying types like with smack down. going for a sort of "surface to air missile" cannon approach to fit with blastoise

The Sinnoh starters had pseudo signature moves in Arceus. I say pseudo as Headlong Rush, Raging Fury, and Wave Crash are shared by Ursaluna, Hisuian Arcanine, and the White Stripe Basculin line, they were the only other Pokémon that learned it but yeah It would be nice to see that

I can understand loving consistency among competitive players, but it is worth noting that Flower Trick always criting also means it never crits, in the sense that you can't get lucky and hit for 157 BP. Still an amazing move, but I wouldn't rate it above Torch Song, which also carries the benefit of being sound based. I'd put Aqua Step in S tier as well, due to how well it suits Quaquavel.
