Apparently, it's only possible in fan game terms, one example would be Pokemon Fire Ash, though the graphics is between Gen 3-4, it follows the story of the anime from Indigo League until Sun & Moon (possibly to be updated for Journeys plot once the series ended), you can start your journey from Pallet Town to every region ever released in the anime, collecting the gym badges/completing the grand trials and competing on their respective Pokemon League conferences. The game is available for Windows, it was created using the RPG Maker XP engine so the game had a retro look on it, can also be played on Android smartphones using an RPGXP emulator. I don't really think that Game Freak themselves would invest on such big project.

Project Freelancer No, not when they just gave up on them. they just got dumped for Attack on Tit- I mean Pokemon Dynamax. They were gimmicks. Why aren't we gettting more Megas? More Z-moves? Why did those things not become a staple for the series? Its just a gimmick now, they dont expand on those things
