Pokémon Sword Hardcore Nuzlocke But I Can Only Use DRAGON TYPES!!

Hi everyone! In this video I'll be attempting a Pokémon Sword hardcore nuzlocke using only dragon type Pokémon!
Rules for my run:
* If a pokémon faints, it cannot be used anymore and must be boxed for the entire run.
* Set mode must be turned on.
* No in-battle items, such as potions or revives, are allowed. Held items are okay.
* I can only catch the first dragon type encounter per route. Separate areas in the wild area count as separate routes. Pokémon that evolve into dragon types later are also allowed.
* No leveling past the following gym leader’s ace pokémon.
* Extended Species Clause

Even though SwSh are easy games overall, they're actually really hard to hardcore nuzlocke! Those Dynamax Gyms can be brutal, especially Kabu and Raihan. Not to mention Leon. Congratulations on the run!

It’s a lot like Ultra sun and ultra moon in that sense, it’s a relatively easy game as a normal play through (if you know what you’re doing) but nuzlockeing it can be really hard. The totem Pokémon can be difficult with a limited arsenal of Pokémon and especially if you have a level cap and can’t over level.

Galar’s base-game dex intentionally removed most of the ‘best’ dragon type Pokémon, which both made it more challenging for you and also makes a weird sort of in-universe sense given the existence of Glimwood Tangle. Salamence and Garchomp are generally considered some of the best non-legendary dragon-types in the entire franchise, so I guess it’s easy to underestimate the challenge posed by not having access to them.

Exactly, that’s what I thought too so I didn’t end up using them, despite it being very tempting haha! I’m happy with the way I did it in the end, one just has to make it through the early game…

Plus shield has one of the better dragon types in the gen: Tyrantrum And while Flapple is a dangerous threat, hustle makes their attacks into stone edge (powerful but not so reliable), an appletun with thick fat can be an amazing stall mon especially against some of the later gyms (although the ice gym will be you a headache) and you need thick fat for that extra type bulk against fire and ice. Plus drampa is also a shield exclusive and they are great for certain gym leaders as a neutral spearhead except for the dark gym leader’s throat chop antics. So sword kinda gets the short end of the stick in terms of dragons

So the over leveling rule seems kinda dumb cause that really makes it harder considering that in the tournament Raihan has lv. 55 ish Pokémon while Leon has like lv. 60 at least. Or is it a part of the hardcore nuzlocke?

You could try a bw2 electric type only since there are some available pokemon during the all game since the start, the 5th and 7th gyms migh be hard but the 6th, 8th and 2nd (If you get magnemite), im curious about the nikname theme you wuold use too

The basis for the theme was that dragon types are the gods of pokémon. Of course I could have chosen gods from other cultures, but since the greek and roman gods are closely intertwined (often even considered to be the exact same gods) I thought it would be fitting to have those two. "Widely considered too easy..." Yes, because you actually capped your levels to something reasonable. Its easy with the massive amounts of exp candy you can farm to hit the end game with a party of lvl 100's. Also, while dragon types are seen as 'too powerful' (hence the horror of Fairy type existing), that tends to be the end evolutions and the psudo-legendaries that dont evolve; all other dragon types are quite underpowered. Gratz on the challenge and good luck on the next one!
