Red's Snorlax was the MVP of this battle! I was afraid that Oak's Venasaur had Chlorophyll and would've used Sleep Powder on Mega Charizard Y and then won with a couple of Sludge Bombs!

Even with chlorophyll mega charizard Y is still faster and that’s why it’s the better mega of the 2 forms it’s a deadly special sweeper

Lance and Oak fight need to fight each other! Lance only lost to Blue (1-0) and Red (1-0) & Oak only lost to Blue (2-0) and Red (1-0). They need to battle it out to decide who is the #4 and #5 trainer in Kanto.

I’m literally up on my feet. This is a great sequel to Lance vs Red. Incredible comeback. Love the blastoise 1HP survival in back to back games. Snorlax MVP needs to be the meme. This is better than any sporting event on tv. 2020 Entertainment Award goes to this series. Hands down

Oak should have win 100% with dragonite when he DD against the frozen venusaur.. but he DD... once..? What can a venusaure (not frozen) do to dragonite, even worse, this one is frozen Kinda disappointed with oak, should have done way better, 3-4 DD and oak can sweep red with extreme speed to avoid the confusion of outrage

But it wouldn't have been theatrical enough. haha Also, switching into Venusaur after the Snorlax had been poisoned would have probably awarded Oak the victory. Instead, fodderizing his Blastoise to the Snorlax and leaving the Venusaur to the Charizard was an obvious, bad call. I love this series, but I do think sometimes it's a little obvious when a character's set to win. : (

I've been waiting for this battle ever since I saw the unused data from Gen I. Before watching, I predict that Red will get a narrow victory here, but it'll be one tough battle. Oak's team is a little stronger on paper, but the same was true of Lance's team, and also Giovanni's when he lost to Blue. Red's best lead would be Mega-Charizard, as it's the only Pokemon on his team with a great match-up against Mew, and it would really help to get it on the field before the Stealth Rocks go up. It would also help a pivot into Venusaur to deal with any Water-types that Oak might send in. Arcanine is a big threat, though, as it can both use Red's sun against him and has good match-ups against most of Red's team, except for Machamp. Edit: Wow! That was one of the best comebacks I've ever seen! Oak got crazy luck early on with those criticals and that freeze, but lady luck abruptly pivoted in the second half of the battle and went all in for Red! Snorlax really carried Red's team there at the end; a nice call-back to when it used to be the king of competitive battles back in Gen II. I guess Silph's line about the winner having to utilize the Pokemon unique to them was true: every one of Oak's Pokemon was knocked out by one of the Pokemon on Red's team that Oak doesn't have (Charizard, Machamp, and Snorlax).

Great Battle, Honestly, Oak could have spam dragon dance up to 6 times unless Venasaur is unfrozen or switch out. Then the Dragonite can sweep Red's team. I guess Oak is too nice to know that a frozen condition is way too unfair and play a little bit nice

I’d love to see you get a commentating partner, who would chime in every now and again with more lore or character-based commentary. I think that would make the whole thing feel more authentic and really get people invested and immersed. Like, for this one they could say something like “now, prior to the match we asked the trainers for their thoughts on their opponent. While Red was characteristically stoic, Oak was more than happy to tell us a bit about Red’s first journey. Apparently, our mysterious ex-champion had a mischievous side! Apparently he used to try to ride his bike indoors as a kid,” etc etc. idk, just a thought :)

I find the top three finalists VERY fitting for Lore reasons 😁 Oak got so lucky with 2 crits, a forever Frozen, evasion of the Leech Seed, etc... Red had very little chance-based luck, TRULY proving who the Pokemon Master is.

Well: If Oak's Dragonite doesn't hit himself twice in a row, he's just gonna sweep the rest of Red's team. So, Red certainly had some luck on his side during critical moments as well. But I agree: If Oak doesn't get that stuff (especially the freeze on Venosaur), Red wins this game for sure. I mean... he wins anyway, but you know what I mean ;-)
