Lemme just put this into perspective. Pokemon = sports/competition, Digimon = superheroes saving the day. Red abides by the rules set forth by the league, i.e. not attacking the other trainer. Tai is not a trainer, he's trying to survive in another world while simultaneously fighting evil forces who were actively trying to kill him and his friends.

Which was the entire lesson of Skullgreymon - Tai had grown overconfident in the power the crest gave him, and believed that he needed to put on a strong front, but doing so only hurt Agumon and the rest of his friends because he was restless. Then after that experience, he was so terrified of putting Agumon through that again that it caused a mental block until Piximon put them into that... mysterious cave, where he realised the meaning of courage: it's not about a mentality of "I have no fear", and running away doesn't help, you need to face it head-on in SPITE of being afraid. This came full-circle in the final confrontation with Etemon - telling his friends to stay safe, Tai and Greymon came forward together to face Etemon (who had gained the power to delete ANYTHING in the Digital World) to protect their friends; the pure, untainted courage of this act empowered Greymon to digivolve into MetalGreymon, which gave him the power to defeat Etemon (who came back much later, but that's another story). So, yeah...

Tai does not know what a Pokemon battle is, so to Tai if you'll trying to fight his friend he will fight too. In the digi-mon world everything was trying to kill the kids so they had to learn to fight. Think of it like a pet class in a mmorpg, your pet fight but so do you.

Because the battles are just meant to show off abilities and character traits, they had Tai attack Red to show that for those characters, Red/pokemon trainers are people who stays on the side lines giving orders, while Tai/degi-destines are people who will put himself in harms way if it means helping his companion

They have the stakes almost reversed for the movies, though- most Pokémon movies feature the End of the World while the worst anime-based Digimon movie’s stakes were Japan getting nuked (though X Evolution had Yggdrasil rebooting the Digital World, that was necessary because it was becoming necessary to prevent lag)

most common misconception about digimon is that ppl thinks that digimons cant evolve without their tamers and digivice. that is wrong. many other digimons have evolve naturally thought it took longer without tamers and digivice. (remember kari's gatomon anyone?) ( remember season 1 leomon?) (remember every other single digimon that dont have any tamers like the villain digimons, the royal knights?) evolving using the digivice is instant but limited. they cannot maintain their form for long. however, evolving naturally allow the digimon to maintain their evolve form indefinitely and would only revert back to weaker forms when completely exhausted. in fact, there many other ways for digimon to evolve, not just through digivice and tamers.

+awie je it's also worth noting that natural/true digivolution is much more potent than the temporary version the tamers do. . For example, Matt and Tai can merge their digimon to become a false Omnimon. Omnimon is one of the knights of the round, a servant of a god, and while the destined's omnimon is strong, it's nowhere near the level of the true Omnimon, who is a singular being with no other like him.

Nakumare​​ yeah....remember omegamon from the movie evolution x, his strength was more than enough to fight off wargreymon x, metalgarurumon x and even gallantman . He only lost to a naturally evolved alphamon. Tai and matt's omegamon could only fight alphamon for awhile before running out of gas while alphamon didnt even use his full strength.

awie je oh yeah, it was omegamon. Forgot he goes by two names. Constantly think they're different digimon, but it should be easier to remember cause of 'alpha and omega' and all that lol. . But yeah, For most the movie Omega wasnt even trying, destroying entire islands with a flick. Wasnt until they were in the knight's realm that they went all out, and like you said, Alphamon was just too much. The only challenge for him was the antithesis to him Yggdrasil himself made. . Course, there are definitely digimon around the same level or stronger. Mostly the god digimon, but as paladin, demigod, and knight digimon went Alpha was at the top tier.

Comparing Tais`courage to "a kid not being afraid to go to/in a dark place" to what actually happens in Digimon shows that he sadly has never seen the show. Tai and the others have been in life or death battles pretty much since the first episode with Tai even "fighting" against some himself (giant turtle thing when agumon evolved to greymon for the first time) when he was 11 years old, compare this to Pokemon and you already have a whole different mindset for fights itself. Anyone who thought Charizard had even a remote chance at winning this has either not seen Digimon (like Eric) or is a delusional Pokemon fanboy. And don`t get me wrong i watched Pokemon myself for 7 years and am a big fan so don`t even start with the "hater" crap it pretty much is not more than a Meme considering how overused it is by now.

Ombraura 1. Literally every Digimon at Ultra level and above would wipe the floor with every pokemon in existence except maybe a legendary pokemon but even that is questionable. 2. The only guy whom i would ever consider in pokemon to have a bond like tai and agumon is ash with his pikachu, because no matter how often you shout trust and friendship, if you force your "friend" into the little ball prison the thing is still a slave. Admittedly one you treat well, but a slave nevertheless. 3. Your point about the trainers giving advice to pokemon has absolutely nothing to do with being smart, it just shows even more that the relation between a trainer and pokemon at most is that of a trained pet being considered a friend. Digimon are like a race of aliens, that live in societies, have prejudice towards others, build cities etc. while pokemon are literally just animals with special abilities. Then it happened again after 4-5years when they got transported to digimon world. and they keep on surviving that horrific event for 2years. for 2years they are always on the alert that any second when they are asleep. some fckng giant monster digimon would eat them. for 2years they were fighting for their lives. now compare that kind of situation to pokemon trainers where there are no even massive killing spree in that world. digimon is about survival. pokemon is about.. i dont know, every pokemon trainer have their own goals but everyone of them wants their pokemon to get strong and evolve. btw, in the digimon world they were traveling for 2years but when they came back to the real world it was only a couple of weeks or months. i dont remember. but when the digimon world and the real world combined. their space and time also synced. now they have the same clock time.

Finally the battle of school has been answered. Only me and two other friends liked digimon over pokemon but everyone said pokemon would beat digimon. I like both series for different reasons. Pokemon for its family friendly charm and cuteness. Digimon is more serious, like pokemon for teens. You even have literally the 7 deadly sins, the 3 arch angels and digimon being killed; this is no kids series. Yet I watched it as a kid. Sure it scared me, but it taught me about trust, courage and hope. Pokemon taught you it, but never went all the way.

Just so you know Aaron, the new footage of Tai is actually from the new Digimon film series that only started around November 2015. So both you and Eric and freshen up on the new additions to each franchise. There was about 5 seasons of Digimon, then a new series came out back in 2010 called Digimon Xros Wars and now this new series with the original season 1 characters.

Except the original title was "Red and Charizard vs Tai and Agumon" and not "Pokemon vs Digimon" which they changed because the original title was too long. Even then, MCX is his strongest, most reliable Pokemon, other than possibly Articuno, and WGM has literally taken on a million mega-level Digimon, so what's six Pokemon that aren't even on the same tier going to do?

Pokemon to Digimon is like lvl 1 pokemon vs lvl 100. The gap is very distant. I dont see why people keep trying to compare Pokemons strongest against a Digimon that honestly is next in line to the top 100(Wargreymon), like come on we got some Digimon who have the power to effortlessly cut planets in half, while having a rapid fire canon arm that with a simple barrage can level a solar system.. this guy is strong enough to 1 shot Omnimon, who is strong enough to kill 999'999 digimon who each are on the same level as WarGreymon in just over 1 minute(83sec). Now lets grab this OP Digimon and fuse him with the god digimon of all holy monsters-the strongest holy digimon(who is way above Wargreymon lvl) and lets combine these two digimon to the point where now they can effortlessly one shot opponents there divided forms struggled to even stand up against... -_- the gap is not invisible :P

Why do they allow themselves to be boss around by 10 year old boys and girls? How come can you beat them with dogs, fishes, bugs and all sort of little critters supposedly inferior to them? How come a little piece of technology the size of a tenis ball is able to contain their physical forms and power? And let's not forget that Arceus almots died on his own movie while trying to stop a small meteor. I like them, but I fail to see the omnipotence in such beings. Tai also fought a mega formed monster with a steel pipe and kept atking it until it fought back. Tai had no fear of losing or death back then when he was 9 years old. Basically the digital world is a world in which emotions have a very real and tangible effect especially when channeled through their digivices turning those feelings into raw energy that the digimon use to get more powerful. When converted in the digital world the dreams and emotional energy of those kids was enough to stop an explosion strong enough to destroy 2 worlds and that is the power that Agumon uses to reach each new stage. Further as they said Wargreymon has weapons designed to kill dragons. Charizard X loses flying and gains the dragon typing.

As someone who is coral reef deep into digimon and Mariana Trench deep into pokemon (aka competitive tournaments and lore-obsessed) i knew the result of this battle from the second they said Tai and Red would be involved. Mega level Digimon, any of them, can destroy whole cities with minimal effort, and WarGreymon is in the middle of the power scale. He's not some God level threat but he's fairly powerful. He is HALF the components of one of the God level threats tbh. Death Battle explained it well, the escalation of power of Digimon is too much. Champion digimon can sometimes win and sometimes lose with fully evolve pokemon. Ultimate level Digimon can give a fight to legendary pokemon (From a lore perspective) but always come on top with very few exceptions and Mega digimon are beyond the realm of anything that isn't Arceus and Ultra Necrozma... And Mega level Digimon are their own mini-universe. There's super mediocre megas like MarineAngemon, Jijomon and Babamon, and then there's universe-ending threats like Apokalimon, Lucemon (any form), and Omnimon X (All-delete is an instant win inside the digital wold, no contest)

I'm really struggling to find a react of some one who actually know a shit about Digimon. Until now... I have just got the typical "Oh I know a lot about Pokemon, and pretty much nothing about Digimon", and it's kind of sad imo. I mean... it is ok because no "reaction" has said something harsh about Digimon given the fact the actually not know, so to say something (good or bad) based on ignorace would be a huge flaw. Even if Tai didn't get involved, him and Agumon would have still won. Digimon evolution is absolutely broken. Even 7 Ultimates could not beat a single Mega, and even then some of the enemies they faced, having been in their ultimate or mega forms for far longer, even the combined effort of 7 ultimates were not always assured to beat another ultimate like Myotismon who man handled them repeatedly. Hell, even WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon after just evolving to that form just the day prior weren't strong enough to beat Piedmon who one shot them. They basically had to bullshit a win against both using either their one weakness or an even more broken attack like the Gate of Destiny which basically is a black hole.

In Digimon, they’re partners and fight together which is why Tai attacked Red; he even joined in to attack other Digimon to help his own Digimon. Thr Digivice focus the power of Tai which allows the evolution to occur. Around season 4-5 they actually turn into the Digimon themselves which is pretty cool; Digimon frontier I think it was?

the digimon can evolve and become powerful on their own with out being partnered with a digi-destined but the one that are partners are even more powerful thanks to their bonds of friendship.. a regular digimon can fight and beat an enemy on their own but ones like Tai's partner have the advantage of power and assistance.. pokemon are slave animals that need instructions to survive

this was a long time ago now but to explain it for anyone who doesn't understand how digimon work. They naturally digivolve on their own over the years after they increase they power to a certain point.When they evolve from this, it is permanent unless they get damaged or lose huge amounts of stamina. The ones that have "trainers" are able to use their trainer's emotions as a source of power to boost them up to a power level where they would have evolved naturally on their own. Because the energy isn't actually their own, they don't stay in the form for long periods of time and revert back to the form they naturally have the energy for. In the show, this is why gatomon (the white cat with gloves digimon) is actually in her champion form regularly while the others are mainly in their rookie forms. she has naturally built up more energy then the rest.

In franchise vs franchise, it would be Pokemon Hax vs Digimon's overall supremacy strength-wise. This pretty cool thing they did. Also, the extra shows you saw.. called Pokemon Origins (animated version of the original R&B game in cliff notes + the mega evolution). The other is Mega Evolution Special (anime canon compliant) that follows character Alan and his Charizard (X). It features several Mega Evolutions.

FYI: DNA Digivolution was in the Second Season, and Biomerging (where the tamer and digimon fuse) was in the Third. DNA Digivolution was two unrelated Digimon fusing to create a new form altogether and DNA Digivolution was actually started in the first Digimon movie. The Digimon movies are fucking awesome. You should definitely give them a look.

the reason why the trainers -specifically Tai- were fighting, is because in the show, Tai doesn't just tell Agumon what to do, normally he is just watching, and tries to help in any way he can, for example, when another character in the series had a digimon, and was fighting against Greymon with it, Tai ran in, and fought the other character while Greymon was fighting the digimon, so when Charizard was hurting War Greymon, Tai decided to try and help, so he attacked Red

+Samuel Green While not much was really said about it in the actual anime, that being that possessed Kari was called Homeostasis in the novelization of the series. According to the wiki, it's one of the host computers that rules over the Digital World and can speak through others, so essentially, it's an Yggdrasil-esque type of being. It also appears in the Xros Wars manga, where it is actually said to be the successor to Yggdrasil after it was destroyed by Masaru since they tried to do this weird thing where they tied in all of the Digimon seasons to one universe. Hopefully, Homeostasis is featured more prominently in Adventure Tri since it was really weird how it showed up like once in Adventure and then didn't make a single appearance in Adventure 02.

Season 3 of Digimon was probably the best season. But I love all of the first 4 seasons. Season 4 is underrated. Also, it is Season 3. They are able to digivolve with their pokemon to become their mega levels or something like that. In season 4, they are the digimon. Which is why I love it the most.

If we're talking Ultra level however nothing short of powerful Mega evolutions or legendary Pokémon will be able to pull it off. Against Mega level Digimon there's is not a Pokémon in existence I think that could match. The only ones I could see coming somewhat close maybe are god-like Pokémon like Mega Mewtu, Mega Rayquza, Ultra Necrozma, Eternatus (big maybe), and Arceus of course. Digimon simply play in an entirely different league.
