Pokémon come in all shapes and Sizes. However, a lot of Pokémon are a lot bigger or even smaller than you’d expect. And instead of looking at Pokémon with heights you wouldn’t expect on my own, this time I’ve got some help from fellow Pokétuber Ozzymitsu. Enjoy!

Wow! That's pretty impressive! I didn't know that a lot of the pokemon shared the same heights with each other! Variations in a single phenotype can exist between creatures of the same species though. If those are actually the height/length averages of each in the Pokedex, it wouldn't be a surprise (although it kind of hints to some laziness in the development of their entries over the years). Hopefully it's not all magic/golden numbers, but I kind doubt Charizard is that short on average. 🤷‍♀️ Who knows, perhaps if they take this single biometric seriously it will change the way they are animated, modeled and utilized in future Pokemon anime and video games to come! ^^

the animations , just like the sprites in prior generations, don't show the actual, canon size. They scaled it up since it wouldn't look natural with the trainer in comparison.

Three possible explanations for Ghastly: 1. As its body is primarily made of gas, its true body stretches further out invisibly, and recorders of the average species size decided to include that in their measurements for whatever reason. 2. When gen 1 came out, they decided to count the height the pokemon would be floating off the ground would be measured as well, in the case of Ghastly, then they never fixed it because it would be a statistical error for future generations if they changed it. 3. Every Ghastly ever shown in the anime was a genetic defect that made them all the runts of their species. Even though they're ghosts, genetic defect. Clearly (sarcasm).... Well they do still hatch from eggs, so maybe? Eh. How else would you describe anime Ghastly perfectly overlapping with Jessie's head to terrify Meowth? Unless you're saying Jessie and most other characters in the show have ridiculous literally swelled heads over 4 feet long.

I'm pretty sure the methodology for measuring a Pokemon is something like: - if it stands on two legs, measure from feet to head - on four legs, measure feet to top - no legs, head to tail - then take that measurement, discard it, and generate a random number.

I do believe gamefreak, especially for the first few games basically just put whatever numbers for the height and didn’t really consider it all until the anime. Basically the anime is more accurate when trying to gage Pokémon’s heights.

The reason why Furret, and all serpent Pokemon are taller than you think is because they are being measured Head to Tail.

That would've makes sense if Arbok would be at the same height as I say Rhyperior which is 7 foot 10 which is the same height as Necrozma... Nah maybe Necrozma was measured head to toe I mean look at those little legs. But any ways that would makes sense if Arbok is 7 foot 10 but Arbok is the same height as Groudon.. But look at Necrozma's little legs,there is no possible way it could be bigger that Rayquaza...oh right...it's Ultra form....gives me so many memories of trying to beat it....
