I was going to say the biggest reason people buy Keychron is because they *CAN* buy Keychron. I’d much rather have a Sense75 or the Rainy 75 or the Zoom 75 or a myriad of other enthusiast boards that are likely better than Keychron. But I’ve been waiting for over a month now for something to come back in stock and nothing has. But I can literally walk into a MicroCenter and take home a Q1 Pro today. (Holding out hope for MicroCenter to start selling the Max line soon so I’m still waiting anyway 😂)

Okay, I'm surprised this isn't more widely known. Keychron keyboards HAVE a force break mod installed, and it works great, but if you tighten the screws too much the silicone bumpers get compressed and it gets pingy. Tighten the screws until you feel resistance but don't crank it down to where the top and bottom are in strong contact. I'm tired of people saying that keychron needs a force break, that was a problem with the first Q1 and other early models, but since Q1 v2 they've had silicone force break mod pre-installed.

Fun fact from a typography nerd: the issue with the shift key having a larger gap between the f and the t is known as bad kerning. It is usually a mistake made by amateur font designers so it is often present in free or clone fonts. Kerning is adjusting the space between individual letters that don’t look visually balanced with the default letter spacing metrics. AV, YA, Ta, and RY are a few common letter combinations that often need to be kerned.

I just got a Q6 and can say that electrical tape on the back of the board and a few pieces between the case halves around the screw points made a small but significant improvement in the sound (got rid of a slight metallic pinging). I haven't felt like it needs anything else.

NGL I got a keychron for the firmware, after having two RK keyboards brick due to the software. I feel like at this point I'm gonna have to disqualify anything (for me) that doesn't use/support QMK. I also decided that I really like being able to customize and compile my own tweaks of that firmware, and used that to change the default debouncing method that Keychron had set up for my Q1 Pro. I don't think this thing was great to use out of the box exactly, and that's definitely a turn off for a lot of users I'm sure. But as someone totally comfortable writing some C and who enjoys customizing their own things I love the ability to do that.

For keyboards of course that’s somehow considered cheap😅. They offer you a wide span (3) of switches to decide from. Beautiful premium double shot pbt keycaps in many color ways. A very unique feature it has is being able to connect a Numberpad to the keyboard (I won’t go in depth to it.) It would make me overjoyed to review the Everest60. Cheerio!

I wish "influencers" would take into account firmware and software as well as build, "sound" and "feel". For gaming, polling, debounce and latency are as (or more) important than feel, sound and build quality. This is where a lot of the custom brands fall down. Akko is mediocre, KBDfans, Womier and other "fully custom" brands are outright terrible whereas Keychron is good (as long as you get the later models). As much as I hate their anti-consumer practices, Glorious is leagues ahead on the firmware side with proper accommodation for debounce as well as latency,. The more "mainstream" brands balance hardware and software/firmware much better than the "pureist" custom brands.

Oddly enough I have a Q2 wired that I picked up a while back and I used that almost more than anything else. If I'm gonna have to lift a keycap to turn off my board, I might as well buy a rainy75 for about 1/2 the price and get QMK/VIA.

I would LOVE to have a keyboard like this! But... mostly just because of the color. It's too expensive for my current budget. I really enjoyed watching the videos on the custom builds with a budget that you did with your friends! I think it would be neat to see another video like that, where you potentially take a cheap keyboard, but make it (at least) look like a high end custom.

So, I recently built my first custom PC and I need to get a keyboard. Right now I'm using an old Apple membrane keyboard from the early-mid 2000s, but I want a decent mechanical keyboard as my daily driver. I would prefer a pre-built, but I wouldn't be opposed to a custom keyboard. I was considering a Keychron K4 Pro or K10 Pro, because they're in my price range of $150 Canadian (which is the max I want to pay for a keyboard), and those models have both the number pad and F keys. However, I've heard some concerning things regarding their shipping and customer service, I can't seem to find a Canadian retailer who carries those models, and I absolutely refuse to buy anything from Amazon. Anyway, I just thought I'd ask if anyone around the comments section might have any recommendations for decent mechanical keyboards in the $100-150 Canadian Dollar range

Do you have to care about gasket mounting, tempest modding and foaming if the keyboard is ultimately going to be silent? Real question.

I would get it if it had QMK and a stepped caps lock switch placement option. The Keychron Q2 Max at least has one of those so that’s what I have

I may get absolutely dunked on but for me the best keyboard is the one I currently rock which is the steelseries Apex 7. The only downside is that it's a little noisy so I don't know if I could mod it or if simply lubing it would be enough to make it quieter. But it has a wonderful feeling to it, perfect responsiveness, the rgb is simply mesmerizing on the see through keycaps and the little screen is the best thing ever (along the volume control wheel and the play/pause button).

Hipyooooooo just as I'm lubing 90 NEW Akko Cream Yellow Pro's because they were crunchy, scratchy and spring bouncy..... (and the test-lubed single one came out REALLY nice with more-than-just-a-film worth of lube) Just what I needed, a KEEB support video! :D

I've got a Keychron Q1 HE preordered. I became a fan of magnetic switches when I tried the Steelseries Apex Pro TKL. Not a fan of Steelseries, though. Had 2 fail on me in less than 6 months. I hope the Q1 HE fares better.

hi hipyo, try haimu heartbeat silent linears. They are my favourite silent switches to take to my school library. super quiet and they feel normal and not mushy. so quiet the stabilizers have to be PERFECT to work well. They are in a super-plastic and foam-loaded keyboard (gmk67) and I love it as a 'sleeper agent' ! Have you reviewed any 40 percent keyboards? I'm looking for something even MORE portable than my gmk67

Hey, I just swapped my switches over from Baby Kangaroos which I loved, but I found the clacking a bit harsh. I got samples of Gateron Quinn and Gateron's EverFree Greyish as possible replacements- and actually went with the Greyish. I might want heavier springs, but they're really good value, sound and feel good (lubed) and also actually work with RGB (unlike Quinns)- it might be worth you covering them? I know you like the WS stuff and I liked those too, but for tactile options I think these are a good alternative and to me, I prefer them.

Here I was thinking my Corsair K60 which is my first ever mechanical keyboard was expensive. I heard about the Q1 Max but at 3299 of my currency compared to the 699 (or maybe it was 899) for the K60 it’s much more than I ever considered paying for a keyboard. I’ve been using cheap 15 dollar keyboards all my life until now and never had an issue. For reference my currency is roughly wort 10 cent so that means it’s 300 dollars here.

Im not gonna lie my brother has a keychron and its very good. But I got a Dust Silver wired hotswap RGB 75% and it sounded beautiful stock and I added some morandi switches which made it chefs kiss. I only payed 70 dollars for it too. I'll admitit took over a month to get to me but the wait was actually worth it. If youre getting a prebuilt get a dust silver. If not build your own.

That sound out of the box is wonderful! A little clack, a little thock, all delicious. The silent keyboard bing bong is nice too, but I like the out of the box noises. That all said, I want a knob! Who doesn’t want a knob?
