Great to see another video; I am surprisingly nostalgic for the Neo era even though that was about where I fell off. I appreciate you pointing out some of the other littler quirks of the card, too I think the weird cow...thing....in the Moo Moo Milk card is proabbly meant to be something the farmer set up to feed pokemon. You can see that the "neck" looks like a capped hole, so they probably poured the milk into that, then the pokemon suckles on the fake udders. Which probably means that the reason it was changed, even in Japan, might have been because it was (1) just a really weird interpretation of moomoo milk and (2) it looked too much like a real world cow and by that point the "real world" elements were wayyyyy out of style.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's done in wild animal care centres, so they don't become too trustful or dependant on humans.

What you said for Arcade Game: If two of the names match, you keep all three. What it actually says: If two of the names match, you keep the ones that have said name. Shuffle the third card back into the deck.

Yes! The five promo cards revealed so far look great, and I'm pretty interested to see what the rest of the set has in store. Also, I definitely will be making a video on the Holon region as promised in my Power Creep vid, but I haven't decided when or how I want to do it yet.

You know, if you look at the "Crossing the Ruins" Ruin Wall. To me, that one doesn't look like a Raichu. It looks more like a Pikachu. Look how much smaller the overall shadow is, and how neat and pointy the ears are. 6:54 And there are three Fossil Based puzzles in the Ruins of Alph. Aerodactyl, Kabuto and Omastar. I've always wondered if maybe they meant to release a 3rd one with a Pichu shadow cast on the missing puzzle. Just a thought.

0:24 a more accurate comparison for this pokepower may be the ability swarm, which heracross is able to have in the games. Swarm boosts the power of bug type moves when the user is at low HP. Even though abilities did not exist back in gen 2, perhaps these pokepowers show signs of early inspiration!

From my understanding Dark Raichu was first created for the Japanese Neo discovery. The TCG was and still is created by the Creatures Inc so WOTC was in complete mercy of Creatures Inc as they only had the licensing to produce cards in the US and other international markets. Wotc cherry picked dark Richu for the Rocket English release and apparently we're in perfect time.
@marnea1 Жыл бұрын
Dark Raichu's an interesting case. It appears in Pokemon GB2 for Game Boy, fitting since that game was based around the Team Rocket set and Dark Pokemon. However in this game it's simply a "GB promo". No set is listed. And it's attack is worded and functions like all GB original cards. That is, listing random effects and damage, but not requiring any coin flips or anyway of telling the player how to resolve those effects since the Game Boy will do that calculating for you. Many of these GB cards received physical releases and became quite wordy with modified, but similar effects, that aren't quite 1 to 1 in order to utilize coin flips. And this is very much the case for Dark Raichu, where it's quite wordy and it's effect isn't exactly the same but very similar. In GB it has a 33.33% chance of doing 0, 10 or 20 damage to the opponent's bench. On Table Top it's a %50 to do nothing, an then a 25% to do 10 or 20 respectively, since a true 1/3 chance would requires way more text and coin flips. This to me implies Dark Raichu was made for Game Boy an then Adapted. Now here's where it gets interesting. GB2 came out in Japan after Neo Discovery and the Japanese release of Dark Raichu. However, despite it coming out in the middle of the Neo era, it features no Cards from that era. And only a single Gym card (which does feature a Gym Set Logo). Pokemon "GB1" came out in 98, over three whole years before GB2. Yet GB2 features only one more complete set then it's predecessor. I have a strong feeling GB2 was suppose to come out much closer to the first game, but got delayed for whatever reason. I don't know this for a fact, but it just makes sense to me. Especially when you consider how the GB2's treats Lugia with great reverence and mystery. Much how he was treated in late Gen 1 media before the release of Gold and Silver. I just don't think the game would be "Ooing and Awwing" over Lugia, with teaser images in the credits, with Gen 2 being a few years-old by this point. But would definitely be doing that if the game came out around the same time as the 2nd Movie. But I'm just speculating. So, let's say hypothetically, Creatures Inc (The Pokemon Company), had these GB Pokemon cards, and their artwork, are just laying around. Which we know they made "actual cards" for before pixelizing for the game, because of "Silver Bible". And let's assume Wizards had access to these documents. And they have a Brand new set coming out in the states, with these exciting new Dark Pokemon. But, oh on! It's going to be the first TCG set to not feature Pikachu or it's evolution! We can't do that, that's the mascot! Oh but, look! Over in Japan they have this "Dark Raichu" card that'd be perfect for the new set. How fortuitous! Now I know that's a lot of ifs, and I'd love confirmation either way.

What bugs me a bit is Mantine being pronounced as “MAN-TEEN” when it should be “Man-TINE”. Tine rhyming with Line. Which is why its Japanese name is “Mantain” (Ma N Ta I N) and not “Manchiin” (Ma N Chi - (- standing for the extra I) N. But that’s just me though
