The entire "better use of resources" babble is total cope. The squish-squash needs fewer resources than the custom animations, sure. But since the result is way inferior, it's not a better use of resources. Not having animations at all would use even fewer resources! All this because people can't accept that gen3 was the beginning of the downward slide for Pokemon.
