Okay, kind of feel like the conversation they had about how common each type is was a little misleading, as the thing they were looking at groups all Pokemon by combination, meaning that of course flying would be dead last. If we're talking about "which type has the fewest Pokemon period, regardless of combination" the list would be as follows, going from greatest to least: Water, Normal, Flying, Grass, Psychic, Bug, Fire, Ground, Poison, Rock, Fighting, Dark, Fairy, Electric/ Steel (tied), Dragon, Ghost, and Ice. For those curious, Water makes up 16.6% of the Pokedex, while Ice is 5%.

*Team Maqubi's Journal Day 69 (Hehehe...): Never too Cool for Soda Pop* Hi everyone! It's me, Cotton Jim. It's been a while since I was on the team, that BiggleFoot has done a good job. Everyone is happy and full of potassium. Praise his deliciously charming banana beard! Maqubi is still on Victory Road and is still going deeper and deeper down. Every trainer that Maqubi has fought so far has been a "Cool Trainer". I don't know what makes them cool... their naturally green hair? Their taste in clothing? Their irritating use of Full Restores? I don't really know, but they have some pretty strong Pokemon. It wouldn't be called Victory Road if it wasn't challenging after all! After every few battles, Maqubi gives us a Soda Pop. As much as I love the taste of a good refreshing Team Four Star Soda, I'm going to feel fizz in my mouth for days... or get Alzheimer's.... I probably shouldn't be sneaking a Soda Pop when I'm not even battling. I wonder how Grampa, Skidds, and MyEX can handle all their Soda Pop? Oh... MyEX is Sludge Bombing it all out.... Skidds turns his Surf water into seltzer.... Grampa... well she doesn't even drink it, she turns her body permeable and it's spilling on the ground.... Huh... I need to start cutting back on this stuff. There was one trainer that had an Electrode and it used Selfdestruct. Skidds and MyEX turned to look and me and quickly turned away as soon as I met their gaze. Aw... they still remember what happened to Skrunchh.... It was a really heroic ball of... whatever was inside it. Well it looks like we still have ways to go. Hopefully Maqubi will be able to take care of us after all of those battles. Though, I highly doubt we'll run out of healing items anytime soon. I think I still see a few six-packs of Soda Pop... ( *Gag* ) But anyways, I think we're nearing the end. I bet we'll be able to get out of Victory Road tomorrow and finally challenge the Elite Four! Until then, Maqubi is going to rest, and we should think of the perfect strategy for the upcoming challenges ahead of us. Until tomorrow everyone!

Fun trivia, on the topic of No Guard and Sheer Cold. Couched in storytelling, of course! So, Diamond, Pearl and Platinum versions are host to a fun little glitch. If a transformed pokemon uses the move Rage, and the rage so induced is going when the battle ends, the pokemon's moves are completely replaced -- with whatever moves it knew while transformed! And you don't need to know the move Transform to use it -- there's other ways. And in Emerald (this very game you play now!) there is a move tutor that will teach Mimic to any pokemon in the game. So I slapped that sucker on a No Guard Machamp, high-tailed it to Platinum, and Rage Glitch'd me a Sheer Cold No Guard Machamp! Did not pass the PokeBank inspection, so it's history now. But it was fun when it was fresh.

Kirran that page you looked at doesnt include the dual type pokemon in the single types. So Charizard didnt count towards the fire column you looked at.

On the subject of fire type being a bit crappy in Gen 3, it has generally been the case that picking the fire type starter is like an unnoficial 'hard mode' since gen 1, on the basis that usually the first few gym leaders will be easily beatable with the other types, e.g if you pick bulbasaur, you'r strong against the first 2 gyms and resistant to the third, whereas with charmander all brock and misty are genuine challenges. Also given the fact that water is the second most common type, and the fact that fire isn't actually great against much stuff, chances are you'll have a decent fighter for steel/ice and a flyer to deal with grass and not need your fire type.

It just hit me, this nuzlocke is almost over. Guess will get a stream next week of the elite four. I personally didn't grow any attachment to Maqubi or her pokémon like I did with Tantor & Mr. Stake.
