Freaking love these recap episodes. Notes in order: Cynthia being both feral and adorable is amazing. 10/10 choice! WaNnA sEe My StArTeR? XD amazing Love seeing the recap of the trainers Red has affected. Really makes the world feel full and connected Surge being quick on the draw is a nice touch. Plus, surprised Raichu face! Nice callback to Pikachu in the Red series. BUFF GOLD! Looks weirdly good with a beard. Plus, I love the Jurassic Park reference with umbreon! Dude is so lucky he got the only dark type you can get before Kanto lol Gold teasing Sabrina is adorable. It's also kind of interesting how she doesn't even seem to be trying because she knows what he's about to do. She knows how important he is to the region. Also, nice to see her mellowed out so much. I had totally forgotten Umbreon could even learn Psychic until watching your series. Amazing that Sabrina was able to use the Pokeflute to cope with the abuse. She deserves something at least! Was the Unown telling Kris to go to Kanto scene supposed to be repeated? Love the completed look of the new trio! Love the explanation for the continued existence of the game corner and the prize pokemon. Mr. Fuji still doing everything he can, of course! SV and LA reverences much appreciated! Leaf's face when she sees Ho-Oh is amazing. Top notch. 11/10 Larvitar being a giant troll is AMAZING! Love that choice Gold really workin' that outfit. Gotta love it! Larvitar's Pupitar mask before evolving is a pretty neat touch! Love how you can barely hear the "miss!" when he guesses wrong with Janine. Cute! Gold must be hacking, he got the focus band to actually activate. That never happens! lmao Now what did that poor donphan do to deserve the freeze? Sorry for the wall of text comment. I just love these videos, so I really wanted to get all my thoughts out as they came! Thank you for making this series!

Those compilations are such a good way to rediscover jokes and scenes that flew under the radar on my first viewing. I completely forgot just how utterly hilarious Cynthia is in her 30 seconds of screen time for instance... All in all, the first part of the Return to Kanto arc was pleasant. I was afraid the series's pace would suffer by having to sit through eight more gym battles, but you've managed to make it compelling by blending Gold/Kris/Silver's stories with nostalgic throwbacks to Red, jokes, and fas-paced gym battles. Good luck for the second half of Kanto! We're nearing the end. I anticipate the series may reach its finale this year 2025.

Gold certainly makes better usage of type matchups than what Red did on his journey, though Red did not have much of a choice in Gen 1 against Sabrinas psychic squad,.infamously having almost no real "weakness" back in the day, which in contrast gets completly invalidated by a single Dark type and their broken type advantage against psychics. Sabrina should look into fighting and fairy coverage in the future against dark types. :)

Glad Sabrina stuck around a bit longer after the brief fight (Why did Gamefreak only give her three Pokemons and downgraded her Gen 1 team?) and the section showing her childhood, giving some wholesome sparks of hope to her traumatic past, was very nice to see. Also, at 7:14, much as I like Sabrina, and she looks great in her bedwear, she is a bit of a troll, whistling the Pokeflute theme, known for its waking qualities, in the middle of the night next to several sleeping people, including Gold and Leaf.
