All sarcasm aside, I was hoping more for a comparison of the games as they stood in their particular eras, and not a straight head-to-head comparison where yellow would obviously fall short in that it’s a very old game from when the series was just starting. If we're comparing the games by the standards of when they were released, yellow gets an unfair advantage. A lot of old games that haven't aged well we're Godlike for their time. While many people feel that lets go doesn't set a new high standard for the series. So in that case, yellow would get an easy win. Comparing games based in today's standards is a good way to test to see how well an old game holds up. For example, super Mario world was legendary for it's time iir,c, and is still well liked today. But the first gen of Pokemon often gets a lot of flack nowadays. But I'm not dissing pokemon yellow or anything else like that. I like the game a lot.

Exactly. Obviously every game has improved graphically (and it should). But these are just remakes of something legendary - the memories, experiences and the era that Yellow was released in can never really be compared to. e.g. the music being updated with better audio quality and orchestra doesn't really make it better to me. The tunes and melodies were originally composed from Yellow. I could technically remix Yellow music on my computer and make better quality music, but it would never be better.... Without Yellow, this wouldn't even exist...

How about just a faithful Pokemon Yellow with cartoon style graphics and style to feel just like the original TV series including the humour and expression style as well? Maybe make it even more closely based on the TV series with extra content? I would pay a LOT of money for that and I'm sure it would be a MASSIVE MASSIVE hit!

The games before the 3ds could get pretty hard because it's much more difficult to level up and keep a balanced team. Tbh I find it kind of frusturating tho. It wasn't always frusturating, sometimes the games are legimately hard, but other times it felt like I was only having trouble because I didn't want to spend 50 years grinding in the grass and caves until all six of my Pokemon were appropriately leveled for the league or the next big gym.

Just going to say that I'm experiencing Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu with my 7 year old boy, it's like reliving my childhood all over again. I didn't know it was a remake when I got it for him but I'm so invested in it that we spend hours together enjoying the game. It's been a great experience so far and they've given us great bonding tool. Love both games. Wish my dad was as invested in gaming when I was young.

SWSH was a pathetic piece of mess. I didn’t lose a single battle the whole game even in the gyms which was disappointing. Arceus was more interesting and challenging but I did complete the main story and the final ending within a week

Pokémon Let’s GO was hated before it released, and now it’s got the love it deserves because it’s a good game. I haven't played let's go yet, but it seems to have the same main flaw that yellow has: Your locked into one starter the entire game. Slightly remedied by the inclusion of the Eevee version, but I'd rather have a fully evolved badass like Venusaur, Charizard, or Blastoise on my team. I love Pikachu and Eevee, but I wouldn't want to be locked into then for an entire game.

i was skeptical about the "catching" mechanic, but I was surprised by it. I would be ok to have a choice in future games… battling could make it easier to catch a pokemon, but it could be optional. There is more than enough fights to have in the games with trainers and the "special pokemon encounters". I Don't need to battle my way through every pokemon and grind all the way to the finish line.. it's too long... In the end, I find The Pokemon Let's GO to be a nice change in the formula and pretty much enjoy it for what it is!

Hey I'm a bit late on this question but I just discovered this game and yeah I played the gen 1 yellow in 1998 when it came out and I really loved it. I'm a bit disappointed I can't battled the wild Pokemon for levelling which is something I liked so can I re battled the elite four as many time as I want to? I like levelling Pokemon with battle and not catching.

You can drop Pikachu in the bottom of the bag and relly only on your wild Pokemon catches, if you want a harder early game, honestly. You have to chain catch more than 50 Pikachus to match the power of that starting Pokemon.

1. Gotta be honest, I’ve never been fond of Pokémon’s music. I can recognise it. But like it? No. Then I got Let’s Go Eevee and I actually *_like_* it. The updated music is that good. 2. I was one of the skeptics. I hated Let’s Go upon its first reveal. I didn’t want that “Go crap” in a proper Pokémon game. Then I played Go again for the first time since it launched and managed to find some interest in it. The catching mechanics aren’t bad. In fact, I’d actually like Gen 8 to have a mix. I mean seeing what Pokémon it is when you run into it and selecting either Battle, Catch or Run. Or even make it that you weaken the Pokémon to make it easier to catch. Whatever works.

Sun and moon has my fav music in the series. Oras held the title prior to that. Sinnou definetly ain't far behind. For whatever reason, I love Pokemon music, and I'm hoping gen 8 has some awesome tunes.

To be fair, I don’t hate it. Pokémon’s music is all over the place for me. Like the Battle music. I just don’t like it. For some reason, I don’t like the basic battle music no matter the generation and feel like my ears would bleed if I listened to it for a long period of time. Some remixes/themes for Gyms, teams and such were fine, though. But then you have towns and caves and such with memorable music that at least felt atmospheric and I wouldn’t mind it. Heck, sometimes I liked the memorable, atmospheric tunes like some Sun and Moon areas. I will admit Sun and Moon didn’t have bad music. But Let’s Go is still the first game where I can’t think of a single bad tune and like them all. Except maybe the battle theme, but at least it’s bearable now. It has been becoming less and less grating over the generations.

I think a bit of a problem with the battle theme is how often it plays. Kind of like Sonic Unleashed and the nighttime battles from that game. It would be cool if certain trainer classes got a slight remix for their battle themes. That way it's not the same exact thing with every trainer. Or maybe battle themes could be slightly remixed to match the area that the player is currently in.

I personally found yellow to be better than let’s go but like you said this is a game for new players so it is not going to be so hard. Ironically I started playing Pokémon with yellow and have only found a decent challenge in the older pre black and white games not saying the newer games are bad just that I found them to easy for my taste.

Actually my favorite part about playing Pokémon on my gameboy pocket and gameboy color and gameboy sp is that I can play with ONE HAND. So that argument doesn’t really work for me. It’s not hot hard if you got big enough hands. Anyways good review but a challenging difficulty and better boss battles outweighs every other category making the original better. But I haven’t playing let’s go yet so I can’t be too sure I guess! Really pissed when this was announced but now I’m really open to playing it and it looks awesome for what It is. Good filler until the big one next year

Well you can face all the Gym Leaders again after beating the Elite Four and they do give a run for your Money, what wasnt possible in Yellow or in every other one up to Emerald. I like the mechanic with throwing the ball at a Pokemon, but I do think they should implement it for all Wild Pokemon like with the Legendarys first weaken them and then be able to try catching them (maby even letting a Status like Sleep or Paralyse effekt the catching rate )

Try out an Emulator, and Save States as you go. Citra nightly works great, I just played Pokemon X in it's entirety. I have a kid myself, but being able to play on the laptop/pc is very helpful to have for yourself.

This Game vs Game required more respect for Pokemon Yellow and more respect for the flaws (some can majorly mess up advanced mechanics) of Let's Go. Revised Category results: Controls: Pokemon Yellow, the motion controls are what makes it close but edges out for yellow Music: Let's Go, no argument on this one Gameplay: Let's Go, I would say a very close call on this one... Bosses: Pokemon Yellow, needed to include legendary battles in the bosses section This does make it a tie but add a 5th category to illustrate which one is superior and why.

No longer having to use a Gen 2 game to figure out whether or not my Pikachu and Charmander are girls makes LGP so much better to me. Ever since losing my original Yellow cart and playing the VC Yellow, getting both to be female was a pain in the ass cuz i constantly had to utilize the Mew-Ditto Glitch to spawn a Charmander, catch it and then see through VC Crystal if any of them were female. On top of that, I no longer have to fall asleep due to boring grinding for levels like I did in Yellow

I would rather play Yellow any time, any place. I disagree with just about every single point brought up, out side of Yellow having ng better catching and boss battles. The music in Let Go is great on its own, but in the game it falls really flat, feeling completely disconnected from the game. Playing with a single controller does not feel good. It's not comfortable. I had initially assumed they were being sarcastic about that, but then actually gave the point to Let's Go, and at that point I had to assume they are just straight up shilling.

Legoep is more challenging because the pokemon can still burn through pokeballs more often than not and each gym has it's own challenge to beat which balances the game more because it's both capturing pokemon and becoming a competant pokemon player for tournaments and type matchups. So by a completely different standard it exceeds the original game in every aspect. After literally spending a week on legoep I will never go back to any other pokemon game. Plus you can rematch any gym leader you want as well as any pokemon master trainer you want.

Yes Lets go is 100x better, BUT battles etc was indeed so much harder in yellow ofc. Cant wait for gen 8 next year tho :D !

I never actually played yellow(only Red) but I do really like Let's Go. I enjoy the motion control and the still acceptable challenge of trying to just catch wild Pokémon. There are PLENTY of trainer battles to grind through and seeing pokemon in the overworld makes those cave systems a whole lot less annoying to get through. I don't have a lot of patience. Gaming should relax me and not frustrate me to death or make me rage quit. A little challenge is fine, but I like Let's Go just as it is :)

My biggest grievance with let’s go so far is that curtain things such as menu options, that have become staples in the franchise were removed for seemingly no reason often I thought why can’t I do X when I Y they thought to add Z to Y so why can’t I X and Z when I Y... other than that I overall agree with your analysis... 8.4/10 overall great game, but it’s not winning any awards.

Love lets go beautiful and fun but i just wish it was harder ... beat every gym and elite 4 and trainer with just a single pokemon

I've made this comment on other videos about Let's Go, but if they'd just of allowed us to battle wild pokemon I would have likely bought this game. Everyone that I've seen play Let's Go loves it though and I love being able to encounter pokemon in route before having to catch them. I just wish they wouldn't have watered down the combat so much.

Bulbasaur named Brute Root like the one in the first movie. MY MAN! That said, this game has me so confused. I want to get it and love it. I was a friend playing it and it looks so fun... But to me the ultimate goal was always the bosses. Creating a team of my favorite pokemon, powering it up to just about the same level as theirs and try to beat them. In this game, it seems even that would be a cakewalk. I could fihure something out...

They actually made the game better in ironing out some of the worst parts of yellow by speeding the game up with the catch mechanic and visible pokemon while still sticking to a good mix of battles for variety with (almost) only the trainers to be battled. Also the difficulty curve is good for new players. Not just to pokemon, but video games in general, like Kids and those 50 yo Pokemon Go players. For what the Game aims to be i think it is pretty fantastic. And i don't get all the hate, because all the Hardcore Pokemon RPG fans will get their Game nevertheless. Yes, they still could have done more options like a "Hard" Mode or Optiona old Style Pokemon Battles. But i think they really couldn't, because they had to get it done for Christmas.

Let's go are better than gen 7 but not to the level of any other in the series. Motion controls actively make the game hard on people with disabilities while only adding the frustration of the game not registering your throw correctly in important situations and sometimes have the ball throw 2-3 full seconds after the motion. The lack of battles means you don't figure out weaknesses for yourself so it hinders new players more than helps as far as getting into the series proper, and their is no difficulty curve, unless you purposely catch few pokemon or constantly change your party to stop from being 10-20 levels higher than everthing and being able to just run through the E4. While entertaining they in no way replace the actual gen 1 experience which FR/LG did a good job at accomplishing, they are a bare bones nostalgia trip for the older ones among us, and a watered down version for the kids. It should of at most been 1/2 the price and hopefully has no impact on the the next main games because I'm already 1 bad pokemon game away from abandoning the series all together after gen 7 somehow got worse with the follow ups.

comparing a game from the late 90s to a game close 2020 isnt really a fair comparison if you forget pikachu and eevee as starters fire red/leafgreen is a much more advanced remake and it does get everything right also it has double battles
