No, there's no requirement for WR videos to even show live splits, but most streamers do because it's helpful both for the runner and the audience to know what sort of pace the run is on. If the splits go wrong for whatever reason you can always time a run properly afterwards.

I had that problem with a cave in Heartgold. I forgot the name but it was the one before the final gym in Johto. I lost my charger and legit just closed my DS for around 2 years till I got another one. Then I opened it up and within 5 minutes got through it lol. A few hours later I managed to get to Red. with only monferno and no good x items for it, it would certainly struggle, especially with mismagius psybeam and confuse ray, duskull future sight, and haunter confuse ray + hypnosis. all have fighting immunities. not a good time overall.
