I tried the same lineup but my Kingambit gets OHKO from Aura Sphere by Mewtwo. He refuses to use Expanding Force after the first fail.

I replaced Kingambit with Spiritomb and won! Since I had immune to both Aura Sphere and Darts

I appreciate the devs' work, but lots of the new 4.1 changes made me think "who asked for this???". The Champion theme already worked well for this climactic battle, I see no point in changing it.
