Yeah I agree, big time. I think more moves would have helped the most but in a couple of weeks we'll see another run that tells a little bit of a different story. Bug being super effective against Poison in gen 1 helps a lot but with the type changes...not so much. It makes it worse somehow lol.

Funny thing about Scizor is it has the same stat total as Scyther, just a _different_ type combination giving a _different_ 4x weakness and some of the numbers shuffled around a bit. This also makes Scyther unfair in rulesets that only allow unevolved Pokemon, whereas it was underwhelming in Gen 1 when it counted as fully evolved. I prefer the white lettering on the stats.

That's why I like Eviolite Scyther. Keeps the speed and gets some good bulk. Kleavor also has the same Stat total as well. They're all three just different specced version of the same Pokemon

CLAMPS! When I played Smash Bros. Melee as a kid, I hadn't played Pokemon, and Scizor sounded the scariest to my little 8 year old self when it came out of the Pokeball. I like the white lettering for the overlay. That works. I still have to kind of squint at the TM list, though, but I get why it has to be so squashed together. (Also I'm lengthening the comments to make sure the KZbin-mechanic-that-shall-not-be-named picks up on your stuff. Love the chill vibes, brother. Tombstoner forever)

Id love these cross gen mons if everyone didnt add so many moves to their learnsets. The solo runs from gen 1 usually revolve around tms and strategic learnsets, giving a mon a gen 4 moveset on gen 1 just seems cheap :c

Sanqui roms start with the Gen 6 learnset. I’ve gotten away from them and started doing my own and all you can really do I pick a learnset and copy that over. It might sound cheap to you but I think intentionally nerfing a Pokémon’s moves to be just another lackluster Gen 1 Pokémon seems even cheaper.

Not everything makes the videos but rest assured that I did. Even with all the rare candies it was just short. You can get past Growlithe with it easy enough but the final two aren’t one shots and will take you out. You gotta get that Swords Dance buff.

It's actually a problem I've been able to repeat in my own custom roms where you start off with a bit of random stat experience in special and it doubles after the first battle. It means by the time you get to Celadon for an early buy, you are already over the 25,400~ mark where vitamins are ineffective which is ridiculous. I don't know exactly what causes it and it's not something I can recreate but just making the ROM fresh worked to get rid of it but with Sanqui, it's every ROM, all the time.

I took inspiration in your videos to solve a design problem in my hack for solo runs. In my case, there's an Easter Egg Pokémon that serves as a filler for the starters in the final fight: Espeon. Because of Generation I Stats distribution, combined to its Speed, level and a hardcoded move, Blizzard, it becomes very challenging.

The main problem is the size of the lettering. You couldn’t get by with white without outlining it and outlining something smaller makes it not legible at all. I tried but it has to be small to fit well on the screen. Scizor has a tiny learnset so I guess it’s possible to get it to work but I use the same template for all my runs so I’m not creating everything from scratch every week lol

I would make the base stats section smaller, make it a current stats section so we can see the badge boosts, and add a section with active power, accuracy, and PP of moves either just above there or where you have the typing and move the typing (Bug/Steel) over to the right and possibly make it horizontal.

My guess is toxic is just differently calculated in the game. Outside of that, I have a steel type in gen 1, things are bound to be wonky.

If certain stat enhancers do not work, then it is most likely that one has gained already enough stat exp in the relevant stats.

Doing a bug challenge is torture but this is amazing. I can't tell what's worse Butterfree with tackle Beedrill with rage Sycther learning leaf cutter or something almost at the end of the game Pinsire only with vice grip

Most of those wouldn’t be able to beat the game. You need non normal damage to get past Pokémon Tower and that’s the main reason Scyther is as low as he is on the tier list.

But there are two normal type moves that can beat the game. Mimic and bide. Bid is terrible and if the attack is weak then it does little to no damage. And Mimic is decent unless if your opponet moves are terrible. They need to buff Bug types In gen 1. Especially beedrill, my boy is bad.

Oh, you didn’t mention other moves. Mimic isn’t available until after Silph so for the runs I did withEevee and Scyther you have to use bide.

Dang, Why did gamefreak do thus. And Another fact is that some stats make no sense Swaddle a bug pokemon has more defence than snorlax (70 to 60) Bellsprout is stronger than onix, pidgey, pikachu, charmander and squirtle (75 base attack stat) They need to buff hyper beam. It was like the best damage move and with sword dance will take out snorlax the easiest. I wish that some pokemon have better tm lists like caterpie, magikarp. Especially eevee, it only learns normal type moves

This was a fun run to watch. Also, I'll correct you a bit here. 😅 Psychic isn't double-resisted by Scizor's typing, as Bug doesn't resist Psychic. It is only a single resist. As for the random bug pokemon you asked at the beginning. I'll say Volcarona. I'm curious to see how that would fare in a Sanqui run.

I like chili in fact I wanna do a chili-Locke later. What is a chili-Locke you ask? It is a Pokémon game where every time anything faints you are required to eat a Carolina reaper. And you are not allowed to drink milk before you beat the game. Ohh and at the start of the run you eat a whole Carolina reaper. Comments are good for the algorithm!

Even if I made 300,000 dollars a year for playing Pokemon, I'd hesitate to do that. I'd highly suggest to not do that for a hobby, lol. It sort of highlights my problems with Nuzlockes in general. All that will do is promote a very sloth-like and slow pace because the threat of being very uncomfortable and torturing yourself isn't great for something that's supposed to be fun. Get ready to spend 20+ hours grinding every single Pokemon up to whatever cap you have imposed or going to the ER over a nuzlocke, lmao.

I just do solo runs. Full party playthroughs wouldn't really be a challenge. I've got a Paras and Scyther run up on the channel and Butterfree will be next week. You'll have to wait a little bit for the others!

Why do I feel like pokemon makes Bug types bad, like gen 1 there terrible at late game, gen 2 there weak to half of the Gyms and have terrible stats. Gen 3 in firered, There still terrible but they had something like special attack but some of them are just awful and in emerald they struggle so much in the game. Gen 5 there bad early game, Gen 6 Same thing here but atleast they slightly have more diverse movepools, Gen 7 there weak to 5 of the Gyms. And the struggle in gen 8 but some atleast have use and can be decent at times.
