These Pokémon games were made by Game Freak and published by Nintendo outside of Japan for the Game Boy Advance (GBA). The games would later receive and update in the form of Pokemon Emerald, and were even remade on the Nintendo 3DS as Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. In Japan only Crystal and the Gen III games did that. Red, Green, Blue and Yellow(the latter of which wasn't GBC enchanced like the International versions of the game) all used Grey cartridges, indicating normal Gameboy games, and Gold and Silver used Black cartridges, which shows that they can have advanced pallets on the Gameboy Color.

While it was ostensibly made to be a pro-North Korean propaganda film inspired by the popularity of Showa-era Godzilla, just a quick glance at the story (an unjustly imprisoned blacksmith summons Pulgasari to free the land from a tyrannical king) reeks of "I hate North Korea and want to see it burn".

I also find early versions of "patching" a game without using the internet like the berry glitch very interesting. I had no idea you could link the Gen 1 remakes and never recalled seeing that option, also cool it automatically patched it when connected to Colosseum!

Another fun fact about the movie Pulgasari: the film itself actually has a thinly veiled anti-North Korean tone what with (spoilers) Pulgasari ultimately winning against the harsh government. The director also found asylum in America where he directed 2 or 3 or the Three Ninjas sequels (Three Ninjas was a 90's kid's film series banking off the popularity of ninjas and martial arts back in the day).

honestly ruby/emerald was the best generation for me its definitely a combination of me being young but coming back to it I relied that this generation does really well, the map is probably the pinnacle of map design the perfect mix of water routes, land routes, caves and dive areas. Hoenn is my home region as a trainer, as my first game was Pokémon Sapphire, and many of my favorites such as Blaziken, Aggron, Swellow and Manectric come from that region. The balance of nature ad human creation was perfect, the music was absolutely great, and the sprites were gorgeous.

I started playing Pokemon with Red and Blue. I vividly remember that the 1st & 2nd generations were king. Everybody in my school played them. But by the time Ruby and Sapphire came out, (except for my few, close friends) most of the kids in school stopped playing Pokemon. I have bittersweet memories of Gen 3.

FYI, that's not Ash's Sceptile, since during the Hoenn League (where the clip of Sceptile presumably is from), his Grovyle hadn't evolved yet. And like mushroomdude123 said, it's using Detect.

RSE will always be my favourite games. They had flaws, they're definitely dated by now, and there are 'better' main line games out now, but they'll always have one thing over those ones. RSE were my childhood.

I can't help but use only my favorite pokemon, most of which aren't the best. I've gotten better about that with later games, though.

What if in an alternate timeline, RSE was a direct sequel to GSC? With a 3-year timeskip after Gold defeated Red. With three Regions, all share the same League at Indigo Plateau, Team Rocket returning, day/night cycles, 24 Badges, 351 Pokemon(with new evolutions instead of clones, as RSE wouldn't be a reboot), and past protagonists as final bosses on Mt. Silver? How'd Gen 3 have been like? How well would the games have been recieved? What would've changed about Pokemon's future as a franchise?

I guess while I'm here I'll throw in my experience with Ruby and Sapphire. Growing up starting with my first 7 years of life requiring surgeries and constant doctor's visits, which ultimately resulted in a lack of self-confidence (due to cleft lip and palette), I didn't make too many friends. I got held back in Kindergarten because I missed so much time that year from surgery, and the doctors said it would benefit my confidence being the older kid. On top of that, my family was neither well off nor consistently supportive of not only video games, but artistic aspirations of mine. As such, we didn't get too many games or consoles, and the ones we did were continually used as tools to get us to act a certain way. With all that said, Pokemon (gen 1) came in to my life and it was probably the first "gateway" from my toddler years to my regular kid years. I began to feel a part of something that other people liked, too. I felt like I could relate to people more. Yet, there was something missing from the games, something that didn't quite satiate my appetite, but I was too young to really think about it or know what it was. Gold and Silver introduced steel type, which would become my new favorite type after realizing it was something I'd wanted. Something about steel was just so cool. But it still didn't scratch the itch. I only *really* liked Steelix and Tyranitar at the time. Everything else was kinda meh. I had one good/best friend I met in first grade named Jon. His family was and still are probably the nicest people I've ever met. They didn't mind video games or drawing and they had string cheese and "fancy" things. Realistically they probably weren't too much better off than we were, but they still were by a bit. I remember Jon and I would play so many games together, and he'd always have the cool new stuff I had no idea about. I played Smash Bros Melee with him first, along with a lot of N64 games I didn't have like SM64 or DK64. When 2003 rolled around, I got to play a bit of his Pokemon Sapphire and read the guide book on one of our weekend sleepovers at his place, and I just fell so in love with all the new Pokemon. Aggron was perfect for me, and Mudkip had the most awesome design for a starter I'd ever seen, it just was so cool compared to a regular turtle or a crocodile. Rayquaza was a cool legendary alongside Kyogre, Banette was a really neat ghost type, Swellow was a slick design, Jirachi was adorable (though I was too self-conscious about those kinds of sentiments to express such), and in general I loved most of the Pokemon from the colors to concept to design to type and name. When I got my braces put in I think about a year later, my grandma came to the hospital (big city hospital so they had orthodontics n shit) and surprised me not only with a GBA, but Pokemon Sapphire. I wanted Sapphire definitely more than Ruby because I've always liked cooler colors. I was so happy. I played that game so much and to this day it's one of my favorites in every way, far superior in my mind to pretty much any other Pokemon game. I'm glad I got to experience it -- so much inspiration and good memories. And I'm glad it got remade in 3D in time for my second favorite type, fairy, to be included.~ If you read this huge wall of text, thank you for your time and I hope this was wholesome or reminded you of some good times ;w;
