personally, i would think he's more of a "sellout", not in the literal way, but in the way that since hes got the title of champion the "brands" (probably all the logos on his cape) ask him to promote their stuff, from the hair, to the shoes , not exactly trying to please everyone, just what his title makes him do.

Alex I don’t think so....because N was a thing. I think GameFreak’s depth is as random and jagged from deep to shallow as the sound wave visual from a kid raging at Minecraft. It goes up and down all over the place and is unpredictable. This, I think, was one area they could develop an interesting character....or just not. XD “I’m pants with directions!”

Leon actually makes sense when you get to know his character. He is a bit airheaded and spaces out sometimes. He is fun-loving and doesn't take himself too seriously. He has a terrible sense of direction and gets lost IN HIS OWN TOWN. So he's like a big, goofy kid of a grownup trying to be a super-awesome pokemon champion. He is his own idea of what a champion looks like, I guess. Over-the-top.

I like his design - when I look at it, it feels like you can get his whole story. Remove his gaudy cape and you can see that he was the "Sports NPC" a year ago, dressing up in his obvious baseball jersey and shorts/legging and fought his way to the top until he became "The Champion". His character didn't change - he still has his baseball cap and jersey but now he sports a big "Champion Cape" that has a ton of sponsor stickers on the back. He is basically a walking Race car driver - I feel like after he loses, we could totally see him with less of the gear on out in the wilds somewhere, excited to show us what he's learned since our last battle.

I love the ideas behind Rangers. I hate the gameplay. If I were in charge I'd make them essentially the pokemon TRPG series with you having to use a bunch of pokemon at once because you're fighting bad guys and not following league rules.

I liked Guardian Signs but it was the only one I played and actually beat. I had the original one but got stuck at the end where you have to rescue the legendary cat/dog/beasts. Specifically 2nd round Entei.

@Arabella Grethey I didn't get Manaphy in the original game but I still have a Manaphy egg in Soul Silver that came from Guardian Signs that I have been trading back and forth between Platinum off and on for almost 9 years trying to hatch a shiny Manaphy and I also still have the Shaymin from the game but have since traded the Deoxys due to it being easy to get as of ORAS. I never did the Heatran event.

Tbh I kinda dislike impidimp’s designs even more now that I’ve seen his evolutions, imo the evolutions seem too exaggerated to fit in with the realistic, animal based Pokémon, but too organic to look like they belong with the inorganic Pokémon.

I think Leon’s design could work, depending on what his character is like. His design gives me a sense that he’s a sort of “poster child” for the league. It feels like he’s been made into a walking billboard. Also, the fact that he’s apparently “never lost an official battle” makes it feel like he’s fake, a poser, which I think his design could work with. Maybe something will happen in the story that makes him change into more natural, complementing colors and clothing.

It clearly goes to show that *James Turner is the Art Director of Sword and Shield games* - in an interview where he was drawing his distinct Vanillite while asked questions (video which is on youtube) James explained that he prefers doing more peculiar and *(literally and figuratively)* alien pokemon designs and doesn't draw that much conventional designs, *for example in addition to his trademark Vanillite line, he drew things like Golett and Golurk and later on Ultra Beasts Buzzwole and Guzzlord* - all of this would perfectly fall in line and fit the description with most of if not all the pokemon designs of this generation - and I like most if not all of them alot

i actually like leons outfit because it feel something so ridiculously tacky might fit his personality perfectly. also because you can see all the design choices were made by trying to make modern casual sportswear resemble old noble clothes (like the white leggings with bootyshorts? they're those puffy white pants you see kings and nobles wear all the time in old paintings. and the cap with zigzag pattern that's positioned so upright that the pattern looks like a crown)

I personally think the slightly curved line of action complements Marnie's personality in a way? She seems very calm and collected. This is emphasised by her shrunken mouth and her half-shut eyes-- a somewhat serene expression. It's an interesting contrast to what she wears. If she were in a more dynamic pose it would still work, but the current pose in her character artwork shows that battling isn't a priority for her.

I quite like Leon. It’s supposed to be a representation of the UK. The bottom half is representing the sports, all the gym battles are like sports. The top half is supposed to represent the casualness of the UK. The cape and the gold is representing the royalty. The symbols on the back are logos that are like companies trying to advertise things, like with racecars.

I have to admit. I absolutely lost it with the reference to dazzle camouflage. That is one of my favorite bits of history to come out of the early twentieth century due to how absurd it sounds on paper and how silly it looks in practice, and yet somehow it worked.
