Pokemon Silver - Catching the Legendary Dogs

***PLEASE READ BEFORE WATCHING!!!***
This is a Tool-Assisted Superplay of Pokémon Silver. This was made on an emulator using savestates, rerecordings. slowdown, and frame by frame recording. This video is not meant to show any skill but is only indented for entertainment and showing how far this game can be pushed to its limits!!!

Please note that the "Dogs" are always randomly located, but by using rerecords and luck manipulation, they can be found as fast as this or faster. Catching them was also tricky, but for all of the pokemon games, there is a very, very small chance that you can catch a wild pokemon with 1 pokeball, so I was able to test frames until I found the correct one.
I've been planning to make a run like this for a very long time now, I just never felt like trying until yesterday.
This was very frustrating to make, but the end result is cool. This isn't meant to be optimal or anything, just showing that with extreme luck, these 3 tricky to find and catch dogs can be found extremely fast

I remember too finding Raikou at random. It was recess in school and I was playing around when I stumbled upon it. I literally screamed "WHAT IS THAAT?!" so everyone could hear me and give me weird looks. Noone at my school had ever seen or heard about that pokémon before, but rather than becoming a semi-hero for finding it, all the other kids bullied me because they were jealous. I was 10 or 11 years old back then.

Not necessarily. Each ball has it's own catch rate usually depending on the situation. The pokeball's catch rate stays the same but no matter how bleak it may seem, there is always a chance it could do it

Yeah, mine did that. Decided to play it again one day and now it just makes me start over every time I turn it on. I lost all of my pokemon and stuff on there, and that's the game I've probably ever spent the most time on. Thank goodness for remakes :)

Raikou is clearly based on Smilodon (also known as the saber-tooth tiger), Suicune is based on a wolf or a cheetah (depending on how you look at it), and Entei is based on a lion or possibly the Chinese guardian lions which share qualities of cats.

When I played Pokemon Gold so many years ago I caught Entei with my Master Ball after finding it between the forest and Goldenrod City in this extremely small grass field. Then I found Raikou who became my main goal and also my archenemy in Pokemon Gold. Then I found Suicune which I was able to catch before catching Raikou. It took me a couple of months to finally catch Raikou, a record that hasn't been broken by any other legendary Pokemon that messed with me yet :P

They can also guarantee that you'll be able to catch all of them with a single Pokeball as long as you keep reloading and playing with the Random Number Generator until you get the result you want. Tool assisted runs aren't new and are responsible for a lot of the new secrets being discovered in both old and new video games.

Not quite. This is a Tool Assisted Run. They slowed the game down to frame-by-frame levels and kept trying until it worked. He can load a save state any time it fails, so all we see is success.

however, if you walk from one route to another, or from a city to a route, they will change their areas not randomly, but to one of the neighbor routes, By this procedure you can use fly until you get a dog 2 routes away from you, and then walk to the route between. If you are lucky, the dog will have moved to the route you're in. then just ride the grass till it appears and shoot masterball. That's how i did it about 10 years ago :D

I'm not saying that only dogs are capable of barking, but no cat can bark, and when I say the word "bark", most people think of a dog (if they don't get the wrong meaning and think of a tree. XD). @shadowplay9 Sorry, I still have my manual from my Gold version (I'm reading it right now), and it calls them the "Legendary Dogs." Not beasts, cats, gerbils, hamsters, or whatever. DOGS. What you just said doesn't hold water, and any wiki is prone to bias, anyway. I read things on wikipedia and wikis with a grain of salt. Except for bulbapedia. I use a whole a SHAKER for them, since they aren't backed by the Pokemon Company or Nintendo.

Actually, you can. You can catch any Pokemon with an ordinary Poke Ball or status inflicting required. See each ball has its own success rate and each Pokemon has its own catch rate, and the two get calculated to see the likelihood of a capture. This chance goes up depending on the ball and if the Pokemon is question is weaker, but every ball has at least a 1% chance for every Pokemon, healthy or not.

they`re actually not dogs but cats of prey. entei is based on a lion, raikou partially on a tiger, partially on a sabertooth, suicune on a cheetah. =)
