I love metronome. It's my favorite Pokemon attack. But why does GameFreak keep ignoring it in the newest games? Today, I decided to push Metronome as far as the move could take us.

Metronome is one of the coolest move, normally you spend hours spawing the same 4 moves, but with metronome you can use 200 moves.

Just rewatched this video. It reminds me of a moment in my childhood that cemented Clefairy as one of my favorite Pokemon. Back in the days of Pokemon Red/Blue, I had captured a Clefairy at Mt. Moon. I forgot to take it out of my party for the Sabrina fight. I got her down to her Alakazam, but my entire team was wiped except for Clefairy. On the first turn, Alakazam used Recover, as if to taunt me. I used Metronome, got Ice Beam, froze Alakazam, and proceeded to knock it out with weak attacks since freeze was semi-permanent back in the day, requiring certain items or being hit by fire moves to be removed.

I remember doing a randomizer Nuzlocke in HG. I got a Togepi early on and had to rely on it's metronome to get anywhere with it. I also decided it was a good idea to use a Lucky Egg I'd obtained on whatever Pokemon was lowest level... Long story short, while grinding the togepi up to par with the rest of the tram, it decided to use Fling, permanently destroying my Lucky Egg, then the very next move it used was Self Destruct. I was not a very happy camper.

I remember teaching my Gengar "Phantom" Metronome as a gag but never regretted it, was a lot of fun screwing with everyone I fought in the games. I think it was Crystal or Red, it's been a very long time since I've done that.

Honestly I feel like this challenge wasn't meant for the Let's Go games BECAUSE of the 164 moves mechanic. It might turn out differently if you went against say X/Y's E4 where fairy was introduced.

Fun fact: there is somebody who managed to complete the game using only one Clefable's Metronome. A Japanese KZbinr named Mizuto! Her patience is astounding. And, luckily, she either cuts out or makes montages of her many, many losses. I'm also pretty sure she never used any PP-restoring items during battle... even when taking on the gauntlet of every single trainer in Blaine's Gym. Though she used candy, I'm pretty sure experience came exclusively from battles. Of course, it's all in Japanese, and is commentated via text-to-speech... but if there's one thing that transcends language barriers, it's her reactions to explosions. I love metronome as well. The cool thing is in Pokemon Clover you can teach just about anything this move, but you are right...it is definitely a dangerous roll of the dice. That being said I have cut down many a Pokemon with Metronome alone.

You could try doing a full team of 6 with the modification for all metronome. It doesn't have to be just clefairy, considering you're using the pokemon randomizer.
