Shocking poker cheating allegations have been made against the Legends Poker Room in Houston by Shaun Deeb saying that one or more dealers are not shuffling cards properly. In this video we investigate the poker deal and see if it was poker cheating or just incompetence by the dealer.

I used to deal poker at a casino and we were specifically trained to make sure we didnt obscure the deck while shuffling for this exact reason. Card shuffle machines are the way to go, if available. They are faster and remove the chance for a dodgy dealer to load the cards.

Card shuffle machines seem way riskier. Many models have the ability to sort the deck, meaning there's a camera inside and theoretically the machine could be made to shuffle in any order. Especially if management is in on it, they could easily insert a USB stick in the inside to manage the shuffler from a central location. I've seen stuff that's absolutely impossible coming from these shuffle machines and I'm convinced this is already being done in many cases.

Decks should be shuffled by three players. Dealers shuffle normally then pass for two more shuffles. Deck stays on the table till its slid to the dealership

I have played at legends several times and have long suspected that something was not right with this room. The State needs to step in and regulate these Poker Rooms, they are raking the pot, which is not legal in Texas and play with sub par decks and in experienced dealers, I would definitely stay away for this Poker Room.

I remember those card mechanics/shuffling videos you made, super interesting. 👍 It was actually how I found your channel if I recall correctly, when I went down a KZbin rabbit hole looking at card mechanics, sleight of hand & close-up magicians. The physical & psychological trickery involved is fascinating to me, the subtlety of the optical illusions & misdirection in particular... a demonstrative video like this is a great format, right up my alley! I'm honestly shocked by how many casinos & poker rooms don't use tools or techniques to mitigate those kinds of risks, given there's cash on the line.

Hand shuffling should not be allowed period. Just allow the dealer to cut the deck after coming out of the auto shuffler.

@@DKNZ7 - You'd better believe it's possible. They can rig a souped-up card shuffler (not out of the box, but bought, taken apart, and 'modified') to put the cards in any order they choose. And I'm not just talking some Ocean's Eleven or Twelve shit.

The dealer in the video is definitely cheating. Not very smooth, but it's absolutely by design.

Another video pointed out that starting with the cut card in front of the deck keeps the cheating concealed. If the cut card is off to the side, the dealer has to move the cut card in front with one hand which means the deck is more exposed and the players could see the fake shuffle easily because the ends of the deck are not square. If the cut card is already in front, the dealer can just continue the fake shuffle and then directly put half the deck on the cut card, and then the other half.

If they are manipulating the deck then 1000% they are in cahoots with someone!!! And honestly, after watching a few box riffle shuffles you can tell RIGHT AWAY if its from an inexperienced dealer or a professional mechanic!!! But no matter what, it is the card rooms mgmts fault in the end if its the FORMER because they should only higher dealers who pass the extremely basic box/riffle/cut poker shiffle format/testt!!!

In this video, it happens between 14 and 15 seconds when you say the word 'tampering.' It's extremely loud. Need to get automated shufflers. My uncle showed me tricks in the late 80s and he was an amazing card influencer. The dealer going through the cards, setting a set of cards aside and placing them in the middle then going through that faux shuffle is kinda obvious. Saw some guys in high school and college pull this same stunt.

automated shufflers can set the deck up in any order you ask it. they are only "SAFE" in a regulated casino.

@jonathannagela2130 agreed. I used to be a table games dealer and one day we were closing down a game. At this point the cards were definitely randomly shuffled. My pit boss came over as I was getting everything set up to be closed and took the cards and said "watch this". He preceded to take those cards, put them in the shuffler, and pushed some buttons. When the shuffle was completed, he asked me to fan them out face up. The cards had been shuffled as if they had come straight out the box. They were numbered and suited in order. I was sooooo disappointed because I was gambling a lot too. So I totally agree with that but moat poker shuffle machines don't give the poker dealers that option. I'm not saying that it isn't possible tho

@@notallowed337 that is the standard that all regulated casinos do is to set the deck up to begin or end a tables shift. But you could program it to give seat 9 a straight and seat 2 to hit a flush on the river if its not regulated.

So I was a dealer for 12+ years. Table games for most of it poker for about 1/4.. I’ve done lots of hand shuffles and I don’t think I can do that “push through shuffle” I’ve never tried it I’m sure having dealing skills I could pick it up quick, but it’s certainly not something I ever learned or tried.. I don’t know the difficulty level but my guess is if this dealer is Doing something I never even tried he probably is a skilled dealer that is cheating unfortunately. That’s just my take when you train new dealer (which I’ve done) they just have not so great riffle shuffles, or they might miss one part of standard shuffle procedure by mistake.. but I’ve never seen a new dealer doing something that isn’t taught or even spoke about.

@@Joe_C. yea I don’t know wether it looks good or not, my point was only that if he is a new dealer he is doing something that you’re certainly not taught to do… I’m not saying he is skilled cheat or skilled at whatever that maneuver he did was just that it’s more likely he is a skilled dealer that is cheating… because someone coming fresh from a dealer school might look sloppy like he did, but they wouldn’t be doing a shuffle that was never taught to them. Edit: I never said he was skilled in doing a false shuffle, or he was a skilled mechanic… just that it’s more likely he is a skilled DEALER that is cheating using a move that I’ve never even heard of before… I don’t know if that looked good or not. I mean I think he did an okay job just looking like a sloppy dealer… but I just know whatever move he did is not something that was taught to him in a dealer school so if he’s doing it.. it’s probably because he’s colluding with player and cheating.

I wouldn’t know from like a mechanic or magic stand point what exactly he’s doing.. just from someone with a lot of casino experience, that has seen just about every mistake a dealer can make… this is not a “mistake” I’ve ever seen.. especially from a “new dealer”.. your confirmation is probably worth more then mine as you actually know exactly what move he is doing… I just know something is wrong and it’s not the normal kind of wrong lol.

Wash the deck a good one first then shuffle in accordance to house rules if there are any and deal the cards. Yes? No? I play in Texas and think that dealers who dont wash the deck here could be cheating with stacked cards or two or more. Poker house's in Texas do not require dealers to wash em up opening the cheat door wide... There is no rule of law for dealers to follow.

To my knowledge, none of the rooms in Texas rake the pot, they charge an hourly rate. The purpose of using a shuffling machine is to get more hands out so that more rake can be taken. Shuffling machines are expensive to lease, so it makes no financial sense to have them without a rake.

I play a small live game in my town (anywhere from 12-20 people) I believe one of the dealers is cheating I noticed when the main dude gets knocked out stuff starts going dealers way(dealer gets to play) he was very short stack but I knocked the main dude out the hand before and he left he went all in pocket aces not even 5 hands later had pocket aces again once someone said something about him holding cards he said no and got very nervous the next hand he dealt I was convinced and got tilted went all in that hand with J9 and went home my dad and like I said someone else there think the same thing I’m new so I thought I was just getting unlucky but realized it only happens when the main dude is gone and his chips are getting short next time he’s dealing I’m either just not playing or I’m watching him like a hawk

As a professional magician and con artist, I can 100% tell you that he did a 'push through shuffle' and didn't do it very well. There are 2 possibilities. He is cheating with a partner(s) at the table, OR, he is cheating for fun to see if he can. Given the sloppy nature of his shuffle, I would venture the latter. He is probably bored shuffling all day and decided to spice it up for fun.
