I’m an online micros winner (15bb/100). I’ve never had a pot larger than 40$. But I make decisions in 30 seconds or less, as does every online player. Sure it’s way more money on the line. But running through thought processes on a river card never should take more than 5 minutes. By then you should be able to fully analyze the situation. If you need 20+ minutes to make a decision on a river , no matter the money, you are not very good at poker. At that point you’re just in denial of what decision you’re already going to make. Online players would be frustrated at this table. The answer is 5-10 minutes AT MOST.

How is Doug Polk (the only person that knows everyone's hands) allowed to come out from the announcer's booth, and talk to the players!!!??? There should be a floor person/manager to address this situation, not the person that knows everyone's hands and is also a close friend of the decision maker! When I play in cash games, I swear people (not in the hand) call clock on me literally after 1-2 minutes in big (like, 300+ BB) pots. It is infuriating. I do play in non-raked, paid time games, but honestly, it is disrespectful to the game and extremely selfish to call clock after quite literally 1-2 minutes on someone who has a big decision to save yourself perhaps 25-50 cents of time. Perhaps this is normal for low stakes ($1-$2), but I think its BS. 23 minutes though... I can't think of a single decision you have to make in poker that would ever take that long to work through. The longest I have ever tanked was 5 minutes on a random stream in $4600 pot (around 1,000 BB) and I correctly called down with A-high. After 5 minutes I had worked through the entire hand, come up with the possibilities, and felt confident in making a tough decision. 5 minutes seems more than reasonable to me. 23 is downright absurd.

Depends on the game and the players. Friendly game at home no more than 10 or 15 ( unless we’re all drunk and nobody cares). Playing with strangers for hundreds of thousands I’d say upwards to 15.
