Yea but it also might help him undertstand certain players typically better players and why they did what they did. or him at the least have a deeper understanding. He’s the goat but hasnt been seen playing too many high rollers publicly. Not saying he doesn’t play all the time but maybe him doing solvers might give tht confidence boost on playing in front of a camera more often while at the end/middle of his career bc now he feels complete knowing about solvers unlike before. @ no. Phil Ivey did not cheat at baccarat. The casino agreed to his terms of play the dealers and the types of cards in play. The courts got that wrong. Ivey did not mark the cards. He just took advantage of imperfections. The casino didn’t have to agree to his terms of play, but they did because they wanted him to play.

@ the casinos agreed to Ivey,s request for his dealers. He didn’t see the cards, he saw the backs of the cards and made use of edge sorts due to the imperfections of the cards. The casinos are in the gambling business and agreed to this. They didn’t have to agree. They should be responsible. The dealers didn’t do a false shuffle to alert Ivey the position of certain cards in the shoe. Had they done this, it would have been cheating. So no. There was no collusion here. Ivey played the game legally.

To all the goofies that don't understand, Ivey didnt cheat, he exploited the casino just like the casino does everyday. He asked for a set of conditions which the casino willfully agreed to because he was playing so high. The argument is apples to oranges, advantage play against a casino and cheating against other players at poker are worlds apart. Its silly to speak on subjects you have no knowledge in.

Negreanu was already a huge dog in a heads up match against Doug long before he started using solvers, NL cash hands passed him by almost 2 decades ago, he just wasn’t able to adapt his game quickly enough. You can see it even when he streams now, he’ll say “the solvers would tell you not to do this” and he’ll play a dumb trappy line that somebody would play in 2003 that is just ridiculously unbalanced, and guess what, it usually doesn’t work out!

Every cheating situation is different. Is the cheater still donating to the game because they're cheating edge is lower than their skill deficit? Do you have enough evidence to prove the cheating in a court of law and/or the court of public opinion? Might you gain more evidence if you don't immediately expose the cheater? Might you face vigilante justice for exposing the cheater? Do you like or dislike the people being cheated? Right or wrong, all these questions and more will likely inform the decisions people make. Poker (and life) decisions are nuanced and that includes how to respond when you think someone is cheating.

Solvers are standard now for any beginner to learn the game properly. It’s the fundamentals. Most semi pro and pro players use them now. A good way to think about it is this. GTO vs exploitative. Any player that has a skills advantage is playing exploitative poker. But when the sharks are all playing each other it’s simply easier to just play balanced GTO than partake in the psychological warfare of exploiting the leak, followed by an adjustment, followed by counter adjustment etc.

It’s literally the game right now, from flop odds shown on screen to commentary. It’s the grammar or poker.

Solvers are for weak players who can't put in time and money into the game to learn how most older players learned.. playing gto is never definitive.. you can't possibly be calling/betting/raising/folding optimally.. You're basing it on % of hands.. and you can't know exactly when it is to fold/call/bet raise.. its hilarious how people who use solvers can't see how they all play the same now and that makes the game boring.. being called down by bingo players with random cards calling flops with nothing to hit runner runner.. its comical the lengths people go through to justify their bingo playing.. You're either ahead or behind.. no in-between..
@cheflev9884
@cheflev9884 26 күн бұрын
@@jacksparrow3490 You sound confused. GTO is the fundamentals of poker. Period. It’s never about becoming like a computer that knows what to do every single time, nor is it about playing optimal all the time. It’s about getting close enough and learning all the different spots. Every single modern poker strategy you can think of from ranges based on position, to bet sizing based on position and hand strength, to how you play short stacked vs big stacked etc all come from GTO. Exploitative play comes from reads because you understand GTO. Villain 3 bets too much from the button…UTG limps in too much, player X folds too much on the turn with a pot sized bet etc. All of these exploits come from understanding GTO. Old heads had a vague understanding of most of there concepts but GTO made it concrete and learnable to much a faster extent. A poker coach, solver, and hand tracker can turn a nube into a semi pro in under a year of dedicated learning.

The dealers from one casino I play at go to the other reservation casino and play. These dealers I speak of all collude together at the table and text each other in game during hands.

Well, I've never heard of "solvers" maybe someone could explain it to me. Anyway, why didn't they ask him about the lawsuit that he lost against him several years ago? When the casino lost millions to him one night. He had a female coach, coaching him as he was playing a hand. I can't think of the name of the game. But, it was allowed at that time. He actually had many poker players come to his defense. Including my favorite, The poker kid.

As I understand it - the game was Baccarat they asked to play with a certain commercial deck of cards the cards were not uniform on the back they learned the value of many of the cards (if only high or low) and had them oriented to stay consistent in terms of "readability" they requested a uniform shuffle method so the sorting wasn't lost then he bet accordingly It was a form of cheating in my view but others say it was "allowed" Basically they told the casino - "let us give the dealer special instructions" The special instructions made the irregularity in the back of the card patterns exploitable

@@howard5992 Ivey never altered any equipment or took any illegal actions. The casino allowed themselves to be duped and then cried foul. Basically the exact reverse of their entire business model with regard to the public (i.e. slot machines, which are rigged in the house's favor, and you're just a sucker for playing so too bad if you lose all your money)

re: solvers - tldr computer programs run millions of simulations and find the statistically balanced play for every combination of cards, position and bet size. you can even input what you think your opponent's strategy is, and the computer will tell you the ideal counter-strategy. there may be a better strategy in actual practice, but the solver will tell you how to play theoretically perfect poker so that no matter what your opponent does, in the long run you will at least break even.
