As a shotgun player. This game's shotguns is actually hard to master. The choke does barley any to none difference to range, min max spread attachments are the most important because it closes the crosshair tighter, the crosshair expanding is intentional when jumping I believe to prevent spam jump to it. So never slide or jump at all during or entering a fight. ADS doesn't really doesn't do anything, it just gives you the illusion it does more range or tighten the pellet spread. So essentially, only run attachments that help reduce the shotguns crosshair spread and sprint to shoot speed. Unfortunately, shotguns do not work on majority of the maps in the game because you will get your ass wrecked on most of those open and large areas in maps

ADS actually does help spread. The movement penalty makes no sense when other weapons have none. The shotguns are just poorly balanced and feel bad because of the spread+netcode. I also think adding a smoke to gadgets will help.

@@janzkee Average SMG TTK: ~350ms Average AR TTK: ~400ms 93r: 450ms 1911: 548ms D50: 610ms M9: 610ms 686: 810ms And these are in their short optimal range. Even if you are hitting headshots, the secondaries are completely outclassed in TTK. XDefiant is fast, the hitboxes are thin and the hit-reg is inconsistent. Fully automatics are far more suited to this environment than the Semi autos.

You cannot move with it like the rest of the guns though, otherwise, the spread will make it impossible to kill. The fact that you need to be near stationary just to get consistent kills, not even consistent OSK's, makes it far worse than the other weapons.

I feel like the main reason shotguns kinda suck in this game is because SMGs and ARs are so easy to use, and arguably kill people faster in close quarters then a shotgun could ever hope to 90% of the time. This is coming from someone trying to max out the AA-12, by the way. So yea, fun :’)

Yeah shotguns need their one-tap hitbox made more consistent (might fix when hitreg does) and should be the only guns to not have movement inaccuracy. Instead, it’s the other way around. Makes no sense. On top of all that, might still range at low damage. We’ll see.

I have the double barrel and the AA-12 gold. Double Barrel is actually half decent if you play around the reload and get good with your pistol. The AA-12 is a marshmallow shooter no matter what attachments you put on it tho

I got the aa12 gold (only one I'm grinding specifically for and only did it for nostalgia) but when you're doing well I can't help but laugh, you'll get killed then 2 of them run to your body or they'll put one on not knowing they struggle, especially the aa12 with no investment lol.

My on the fly thought is increase the damage by the shotgun, but decrease the damage fall off starting range, I don't know the damage numbers or range as of right now so I'm just going to make up imaginary numbers, If now it does 120 damage at 5 meters, and 100 damage at 10 meters, maybe they change it so that you do 160 damage at 5 meters and still 100 damage at 10 meters (basically decrease the pellets to kill up close but not far away) it would increase the consistency and reduce the frustration of hitmarkers in the "shotgun" range

I will say, we can buff the shotguns without buffing the 1 shot range. Most of the pain right now is the pump action needing like 4 shots and the AA-12 needing like 10 at close range. The 2-3 shot range can definitely be extended a bit if the spread is going to be so inconsistent. The double barrel seems fine enough. It has some range to it and it's 2-shot range is pretty good.

Someone posted on the subreddit that the shotguns are bugged. Apparently the spread is super bugged whenever moving, sliding, etc. The total damage also doesn't match what it should be for all pellets landing.

I’ve been using the pump shotty and I’ve had instances where I will get 4 hit markers on people and they still have over half hp or it will 1 hit from like 20 feet away (more often the first one)

I think the M870 is the best GUN in the game. A fully maxed out M870 can one shot from SMG range if you hit a perfect ADS shot to the chest. Plus you can increase the speed of how fast you can shoot. I just don’t think any gun can compete.

It’s all about the range. I’ve been using the DB all day and it rips. The AA when up close and against 2-3 you can do some damage if your lucky. Some maps it’s just not a good choice unless you can get to certain positions.

1:20 that's not true, double xp token and double exp event stacks additively not multiplicatively, it was stated on their official Discord during the first event so you actually get triple exp, not quadruple (base exp + once more cause token + once more cause event = 3x)

Pistols are actually solid, well the m9 m1911 and the desert eagle are, the 44 is a little slow and the 93R is a water pistol, maybe a pea shooter at best needing extended mags.

A major problem with Xdefiant is the camo grind weapon xp. Theres 24 guns in the game and 100 levels for each. It takes 35 kills for 1 level which is 3500 kills to get a weapon to max level. 24 guns and 100 levels is 2400. 3500(kills)X2400(Weapon Levels) is 84000. It takes 84000 kills to get gold on every gun.

AA-12 is actually really really good. Once you level it up to get Extended Mag, Extended Barrel and the Choke. I drop 50+ kill games with it easy.
