Krystian was born and grew up near Washington, where his parents left during the communist era. He comes from a family with musical traditions - his father played the synthesizer in the band 'Róże Europy', and his grandfather, Wiesław Ochman, is an opera singer. Grandpa was one of the best tenors in the world several decades ago(In the epoch before the three tenors). Krystian is studying opera singing at the Academy of Music in Katowice now. He won The Voice of Poland two years ago.

Bardzo było mi przykro i nie rozumiałam jaki był powód braku punktów od Ukrainy. Nie wiem dlaczego, bo piosenka wyjątkowo w tym roku świetna. Może to system głosowania? Pamiętajmy, że tam toczy się wojna. W Eurowizji sąsiedzi przeważnie się wspierają, to nie tylko konkurs piosenki, to obraz Europy z wszystkimi wzlotami i upadkami. Ale Polska i tak za Ukrainą. Slava Ukraini!

I listened to your comments with great interest, eager to get to know the opinion of someone who can analyse the song from a professional point of view, with attention to details. And I wasn't disappointed :-) I must admit I've been keeping my fingers crossed for Krystian ever since I learned he was thinking of taking part in Eurovision, and I found this song intriguing, enjoyable to listen, and very well sung. I thought it could prove to be a perfect choice for this kind of song competition. As a Pole, I'm proud of having Krystian, a grandson of excellent Polish tenor singer Wieslaw Ochman, to represent my country with his beautiful voice. I do hope the international audience will appreciate his talent, and like the song as much as I do. Besides, from a number of Krystian's interviews that I either read or heard on radio/TV, I drew the conclusion that he is an honest, clever, yet humble young man - which I consider a substantial asset. A wonderful performance of the piece The River in which there is a dramaturgy of a storm, downpour and energy wonderfully expressed by the dance of the current of this river, which is throbbing restlessly in the bed. A voice from beyond, full of expression of purity and energy, fills this wonderful spectacle.

People compare it inanely with Arcade and fail to see the real, obvious influence which is "Blue Jeans" as sung by Lana del Rey in 2012. I won't call it plagiarism because it doesn't tick all the "legal" boxes, but the first part of the song could have come straight from a del Rey album. Ochman is the grandson of the greatest Polish operatic tenor in recorded history and I suspect granpa must have had a saying in developing Krystian's technique, which is excellent. Despite my reservations about the song's "inspiration", it is one of my favourites of this year.

This was my favourite last year. I love his voice so much. I've ended up listening to him loads since last year in a genre that's not usually one of my go-to boxes. I'm sad the staging seemed to really throw people from listening to how beautiful a voice he has because it didn't do as well as I thought it should.
