This was pretty awesome. One of my goals is to spend a year traveling Europe. A few weeks in each country to see all the various sites.

Gentlemen, the very fact that you show interest in our history and our struggles is very ennobling to us. We owe a lot of the achievements of modern Poland to America. most of the political transformation events in the 1990s were inspired by American agency. Without you, many agreements, e.g. establishing the border between Poland and Germany, would never have been created. many thanks for your commitment

Thank you for your kind words. One of the things that was interesting when I was in Poland was how some people when they asked me where I was from thanked me. It was a bit awkward. I told them nothing to thank us for, but even in the Warsaw uprising museum there was a USA flag and the curator told us it was special to him because it had flown over Washington DC. There were a lot of tourists in downtown Warsaw, but we were definitely the only Americans visiting , but everyone was super kind to us. Even when we made mistakes like when my wife couldn't find her bus ticket or when I walked into the museum with my jacket (which is against the rules), the authorities were very kind to us. They patiently explained the rules to us. In other European cities, we were not treated so kindly.

Major historical corrections: in 1989 Poland was the initiator and leader in communist block collapse. Germany (Berlin wall) and all other countries were followers. Uprising in ghetto was first, in 1943, and was jewish. Warsaw city uprising was another one, in 1944.

The Polish resistance called AK was the largest resistance in all of the world during second World War II. Surrendered in opposition to other European countries. The uprising was triggered by hope to take over power after the war ended, but unfortunately through collaboration of allies and some moves on the part of Stalin the Soviet army did not help during this event

@pedrozatravel 4 ай бұрын
I appreciate your support and comment but I respectfully disagree with you. Poland was under control of the USSR officially until 1991 (although around 1989 things started to fall). I did however say Poland was forced to be a part of the USSR, it was very tragic. I am glad Poland is independent now.

@@davidjrb You are right Sir. Poland wasn't independent at all , however Ussr was a single Unit with the countries like Ukraine, belaruss, Baltics etc - all this countries with Russia on top was closed in a single state- you can see it on all cold war's world map. Poland was part of eastern block, and warsaw pact just like Romania, Czechoslovakia, hungary or Eastern germany. Independent on map- abolutely not independent politically. That is main difference.

My grandfather had given money to help with the rebuild of Warsaw as there was a special tax implemented for the rebuild and the red bricks were driven from all parts of Poland.

Actually Poland didn’t fall fast: wars betrayed by ‘allies’ great Britain and decline and friends with its inaction.

I do agree Poland was betrayed by its allies, the inaction of the west of what Germany at the time was doing was not good. Thank you for watching and your comment.

Thank you for visiting and commenting, I am not claiming to be a historian but my understanding is Poland did resist and I think it was a valient attempt, but with Germany attacking the west and Russia in the East Poland did not hold out that much. Basically Russia was just waiting for the Germans to lose WWII and then they took all of Poland as a puppet state. The whole point of the video was just to say Poland always resisted and because of that they are independent today. I feel it is a lesson that shows that even if right now you are losing you need to keep going because things can and do turn around.

You forgot about VERY important historical FACT. After 17 days of Germans attack from the west, Soviets Red Army attacked Poland from the east (17th September 1939). So Poland was fighting 2 Super Powers then. AND: Poland was NEVER in (thats how you called) USSR. Was under soviet inluence, was a satellite state, but was NEVER in USSR. No offence, but read more.

Thank you for visiting and commenting. You have to realize from my perspective there was no difference between the puppet state Russia ran in Poland and the USSR. It was all just one thing. I realize Poland did not go into that willingly, they were forced. It was a very bad time for Poland.
