Definitely one of my favorite books. I cried in the epilogue too. i also cried when they were on the train after she found out she was being deported. there was a quote that went something like, "all the buildings that she will always compare to these ones, just like she will compare every boy to daniel". it made me tear up because it just stayed so plainly that she was never going to see him again and that this was actually happening. i also teared up a bit when it showed that flashback in Natasha's pov, where the mother completely shunned the idea of going to his one successful play in America. he was proud and his children were proud and he was finally going to be able to fulfill his dream, and she called it stupid. I also teared up when natasha said that "she would like to say that her dad was a bad actor. but he was extraordinary. he belonged on that stage". it was heartbreaking because even though he belonged there he was never able to pursue it in the way that the American dream always promised for people like him.

The fact that this was an interracial love story between two POC protagonists was so important to me. Especially Daniel, who was not stereotyped or fetishized at all. As a Chinese American girl dating a Puerto Rican, I just loved reading about a relationship that was similar to mine. Representation matters.

It was a total 5/5 stars and it was amazing. I don't like romance books but i found myself reading everywhere and finished it in 3/4 days.The different pov's and the charecters that interacted with Natasha and Daniel. i just finished it a few hours ago and i can't stop thinking about Natasha and Daniel. BTW Irene so deserved that happy ending. I didn't think Natasha was really going to get deported but i was so happy to hear about her in the epilogue and Irene bringing them back together on the plane!

I've never ever cried reading a book but I had such detailed images of these characters in my head that I teared up and fully cried when Natasha turned to Daniel and asked, "So how many kids do you want?" I just finish reading this book, and i know i'm coming late to the party but there are things that i need to say!! So let's do this. I agree with most of what was said in the video BUT i think that is easy to over look one of the most important things that i found in this book, and that is the imigrant point of view, with Daniel being a first generation korean in the US and all the spactations around him and Natash beaing jamaican but haven spent so much of her life in the US that she just can't imagine going back. I am kind of a imigrant and that really spoke to me through the entire book and i don't think i would have loved it as much without those thing. And can we just take a minute to adimire how subtle and powerfull is the messege about racism, AND THE CHAPTER ABOUT BLACK WOMENS HAIR, i am still in awe of it. (ps: i don't usualy coment and english is not my native language bur i hope i got my message across)

This video had perfect timing because I literally just finished it two minutes ago! I also really loved the book! (Spoilers ahead). In the end, I think that my favorite part was that Irene came back in the end. It showed that the day really did happen for a reason. Even though Natasha didn't get to stay in NYC, she thought she was going to and so she called Lester Barnes and he told Irene that Natasha thanked her and that is why she stayed alive. When I read her epilogue I realized that maybe this book, this love story was not all about Daniel and Natasha. It was about life and the fact that our lives always intertwine. But it was obviously icing on the cake that Daniel and Natasha happen to be on the same plane. All in all, it was a wonderful story. Not only did I enjoy it, but I learned a lot from it. The two main characters were beautiful. I had never read a love story between two such diverse and rich characters. I love that we learned so much about their lives and their families. I love that their love seemed natural and not forced (even though Daniel's goal was kind of to "force" the love). I just truly loved the whole thing and I am glad that you did, too!
@marymaebereading13528 жыл бұрын
I really liked the ending as well and don't think I know a way it could've ended better. I felt like it tied up the realistic aspect of life as well as the theme of fate. Irene and the lady at the restaurant's perspective were my favorite because they seamlessly tied the book together, in my opinion. I also loved the characters because they had such different personalities and the author really dealt with dueling perspectives of belief.

I loved this book so much and I was hardcore sobbing when I reached the end, haha. I also enjoyed Everything, Everything, but for some reason I wasn't touched by it in the same way as I was by The Sun is Also A Star? I think my favorite thing about this book was seeing how Daniel and Natasha touched the lives of all the people around them as well as all the factors that went into making their relationship what it was (the chapters that weren't narrated by them were ironically some of my favorites, despite my love for both characters.) I feel that Everything, Everything was a really important story about one girl and I also really liked the format it was told in, but I felt like The Sun is Also a Star was more universal and impactful to me. Also, dayum. The cover. 10/10.

Fer Cm While I was doing the written part I thought I would fail because the texts were kind of hard, but I actually got really good marks on all of them (C2 level). I was a bit unlucky with the speaking test because I had to speak with a person who just couldn't speak. I felt that I made the best out of this situation, but I got pretty bad marks, which is why I "only" managed C1 level. I am more than happy with that, but it's really frustrating that my bad luck ruined it... Anyway, I would really recommend doing it. Not only does it help you to know how good you are, but it also looks good on a job or university appliction :)

I enjoyed this book while I was reading it and I loved the epilogue, but as time goes on I've started liking it less. I do love a lot of the themes like immigration, how your life affects everyone around you, and the side-plots with Irene and the lawyer and Natasha's father. The only part I didn't like was the central love story, it felt too insta-lovey and forced. However, I loved both characters and I feel like it would have worked better as a friendship. I totally respect everyone who loved this book and I can see why; I'd give it maybe 3 stars. I'd definitely recommend everything everything (though it was somewhat predictable, it was still a fun read). Love you and your videos ❤️

This is definitely one of my favorite books now! I absolutely loved everything about it, I couldn't have said it best than you did. I thought it was way better than Everything, Everything, simply because I hated the twist in Everything, Everything. I thought in The Sun is Also a Star, the ending was right and everything was right and made sense and as sad as it was that Natasha was (SPOILER) deported, it fitted the story. And the epilogue in Irene's POV was perfect, she was the one who brought them together and they ended up together thanks to her as well, it's just... sort of poetic (would be pleasing Daniel). Anyways, definitely a wonderful book that I will be rereading and recommending.

So like after reading it I'm finding myself greatly relating to Hazel in the fault in our stars. The way she fell in love with Augustus waters - Slowly then all at once. That's how I fell in love with this book. Her wanting an end to an imperial affliction to see what happens beyond the story. I want to see what happens to Daniel and Natasha (even though I feel they will inevitable get married and have those children they thought about) I still want to READ ABOUT IT. Like I never wanted the story to end it was so perfect and I can read it and read it again and again. If I can't get that, then I hope at least Nicola comes out with a new book ASAP because she's brilliant and I love everything about her novels.
