Richard Paddey I agree those bench press heart rate numbers make no sense at all. That’s working at like 90% your max heart rate. Makes me think there was way too much flex in that wrist during the bench press which would actually diminish power output.

or maybe Apple just realised that Strength Training is not trackable on wrist HR so they inflate the numbers to begin with, yeah such a high readings are nonsense. I do wear chest strap with my V3 at gym and no shot to get over 150 on bench, i only get over 150 few times when superset high reps exercises.

That’s strange, I wonder why they did not go with the same kind of measurement that all of the other wearable producers do. Per my understanding, Garmin, Apple, Suunto, Fitbit, Tomtom, and others all use the two feet metric.

Read the manual? How many people do you know read the manual? I'll tell you no one. The point of a watch is you should be able to set time basic physical data and wear the watch. You might set up step for walking/running and that's it. And your silly remarks about cadence. Most people might use this watch for running and cadence might be important to them. I personally use a watch for gym base excerise so that was important to me to know how well it did. Maybe not to you. Everyone uses their watch different.

Interesting review...I have to mention like others before that cadence number have to be doubled and you will get the numbers of Garmin, it's not incorrect just another kind of method. ABout buzzing per km, I use Polar Vantage V and u can turn off every reminder in the Polar Flow web platform at sport profiles, me i don't have any reminders set up...also i have to mention that polar flow gives u much more data than strava, i'm not very sure what data u missed. in my experience the heart rate on my vantage (they share the same heart rate sensor) is pretty reliable, i did some testing against the polar H10 chest strap and the differences were around 5 bpm when i did bodyweight exercise and 1-2 bpm at running and biking...but in my opinion in the gym the primary focus should be on weights and getting stronger, and if u are super serious about calories then chest strap...about all day calorie counting the polar in my opinion counts calories not just after exercises but how many calories ur body burns all over the day based on weight, height plus activity. Also, i wanted to ask if ur Cardio Guy has put his weight and height in the app and synced this info with the watch before running? cuz he is thinner than u so calories will be way off after session if he ran with ur metrics...it's really interesting for me cuz my vantage is pretty fair on calorie counting in all day and in sessions as well...Also, I missed very much fitspark.... but all in all interesting review, ur video is one of the few reviews which are disappointed in this watch, the majority is satisfied with this watch. For those who want more data and info about this watch, i link here the 5k runner's review with lots of screenshots and data comparing against chest strap and garmin products the5krunner.com/2019/07/15/polar-ignite-review/ but thanks for this review, it was really interesting and i like ur channel a lot!

Thank you for the honest review. I have the watch and overall very pleased with it. My only issue with it sometimes get the sleep onset wrong which is annoying, but most days it's fine. The manual does advise wearing the watch atleast a finger width apart from your wrist bone, for accurate heart rate measurements. This may have played a part to you inaccurate heart results as the watch looked very near to your wrist bone.

This is not an honest review. I switched from Garmin Fenix 5X+ to Polar Vantage V Titan. I could not be happier. I know that Ignite is a much less sophisticated watch than Vantage V. However, some hardware features are identical. One of those being the heart rate sensor. I never ever had an issue with HR readings on my Vantage and I cannot imagine that Ignite would be any different. I also think that the reviewer missed a lot of features on Ignite that differentiates it from any other watch on the market - sleep and recovery tailored workouts through FitSpark. Ignite just like my Vantage V is packed with many great and useful features that the reviewer just chose not to cover. For what reason? I have no idea. One section of this review that talks about how the display would not turn on while running was a clear give away that this was not an honest review. Ignite has an option to turn on the backlight so that the display stays on the entire time during exercise. Maybe they were reviewing a faulty device, maybe they did not spend enough time with the watch...who knows..I would suggest that viewers go and look at some other reviews of Polar Ignite and then draw up their own conclusion.
@larrysilverman3842
@larrysilverman3842 5 жыл бұрын
Eric, Although I agree with much on the review, you should be aware that Polar always measures strides not our “steps” or cadence. To get cadence you must multiply by 2. This is across the entire Polar line. I must say the best part of the Ignite is Nightly Recharge which a truly unique metric for recovery. My experience, and many others, is that Nightly Recharge changes everything and when ported to the Vantage series (October according to Polar), the result will be a first class fitness and recovery wearable.
@TechyAgent
@TechyAgent 5 жыл бұрын
That’s interesting, however very confusing because on their app the metric is listed as “steps/min” and underneath that it says “cadence avg.” so it is definitely giving the impression that it is measuring steps or cadence. For a screenshot of how it appears, you can check out DC Rainmakers review here: www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/08/polar-ignite-gps-in-depth-review.html If they are measuring strides and not steps or cadence, they should not use the terminology steps or cadence, in my opinion. Cadence is a somewhat industry standard term that has been used by Garmin and Suunto and Fitbit, it seems weird that polar is using the same term to mean something else.

Pretty poor review. I get it, one of you do gym, another running, but this watch does so much more and from what I have read elsewhere, really well. It supports 100 different activities with animations, measures your sleep very well including breathing and then amends your excercise recommendations based on it. It even has got easilly accessible day breathing excercise. Looks like you might be on something regarding heart rate measurements, I have read another review where it was showing much higher readings (not lower) than a Garmin but another one was fine compared to other devices including HR bands. There seems to be faulty units on the market - that's it; test, compare, and replace if needed. Also, optical measurements are not for everyone. Compared to other watches you can read a lot data off the screen, you do not need an app. The black with silver bezel looks pretty nice.

The cadence is half of what Strava and I guess Garmin would have reported. It’s just a difference of counting half-steps (one foot) or whole steps (one foot, then the other). So if you can’t adjust to that, I’d say you’re the problem, not the device. Pulse measurement is best in class for on-wrist continuous ones, but none of these sensors are great for tracking rapid changes in heart rate. With a chest strap however it’s another story. I found this review amateurish and prejudiced. And you haven’t even tested the headline feature, namely the guided training. As for calories, you don’t state what, if anything, you did to provide good baseline data to the watch. I’m not even sure you realize that total calories include what you use to stay alive and 37 degrees centigrade. For a young man with above average muscle mass, and a tall build, a bit over 3000 calories *without* moving is not excessive.

Interesting. I've had a Polar M200 for a couple of years (the watch that this new model replaces?). Its been generally very good. Heart rate has been spot-on during runs and in the gym. The only activity that seems to throw it is the Concept II rower (where I'm assuming the angle of my forearm bones must be lifting the sensor away from contact with my skin). The flip-to-wake function on the M200 is fine. My only complaint has been that it sometimes takes a while to find a GPS fix. I generally throw the watch outside while I get ready for my run. By the time I walk out the door its usually locked on pretty good. BTW, you realize the cadence number is probably for a complete leg cycle (maybe its reading half of what you expected?).

In many regards yes. I know that there will be those that defend this product, but when you boil it down to price, there are objectively better options like the Vivoactive 3.

Another disapointment from Polar..Overestimated steps, distance, calories.OHR not accurate despite it is an easy watch. I am only satisfied with sleep tracking. There is no lap button at any excersices(Only automatic laps are possible).Nice review and effort.

(Like i wrote for the Garmin vivoactive 4 kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqGrgYWYbdeErbs ) Thanks for mentioning that sometimes the screen doesn't respond, it can be extremely annoying, now I didn't have to make a bad purchase. And of course, thank you for a good review!

These devices have a rechargeable battery that you cannot replace yourself: A300* A370 Grit X Ignite* OH1* Polar Loop 2 Polar Loop Crystal M200* M400 M430 M460 M600 Unite* V650* V800 Vantage M* Vantage V Vantage V2 *The battery cannot be replaced. At the end of the battery's life cycle, the entire device must be replaced. If I new this, I would never have purchased this! Money down the drain!

WOW 152 beats p/m on Apple watch after a set of bench pressing really !!!!!, sorry to say but that's a false reading, be interesting to know what your heart rate is when your doing cardio, on these figures I'm guessing around 220, seriously you need to check yourself out, don't rely on Apple they were totally out with my readings.

Well ,dislike on this vídeo. This channel is parcial and your reviews is a big joke . Obviously neither you or your running reviewer understand nothing about sportwatches .but im wondering why only when it comes at polar you say i dont recomend this watch. Go for Garmin. It was the same thing with vantage series. I have both brands,Garmin and Polar and in some things polar is best in others is garmin. This is what happens whens some gym guys want to be youtubers and decide to do reviews of sportwatches, dammm
