Polar Lights 1/350 USS Enterprise Build Update.

It's been a long time but this build is finally moving forward!
This build started when Polar Lights released the updated and improved lighting set for the model, but hibernated after the light kit was reviewed.
Now I'm on to weathering the kit, and looking to complete the build in the next few weeks.

I wish you could have put out a video on how you did all the puttying and sanding after it was all put together. That would seem to be very difficult. Still a beautiful model.

Great idea on the technique for the weathering! I used a set of the Polar Lights Weathering Decals for my 1:350 Potemkin and unfortunately, some of the decals silvered. The weathered colors used also had a green seaweed teal color. I'd like to try your method with these different colors on a future build sometime. Can't wait to see your final video of her!

Very nice job thank you for the video looking forward to the update. I have a question too all your fans and yourself. Does anyone ever think how did the rust ring get there? The ship is flying through space hitting small asteroids micrometeorites and more. The rust ring is on the flattest area of the saucer. It seems to me that there would be more debris hitting where the registry is.

That is a cracking looking model, you've done an excellent job. Really inspres me to get mine out of the stash and get on with it, but it is a bit daunting, especially considering how much I paid for it over here in the UK! Can I ask a question, please.....would it be better to put the decals on before weathering?

That's what a lot of people are telling me, I'll have to try it on a different build. Worried about hurting the decals.

Light Ghost Grey is simply not correct. I went to the Smithsonian when the original Enterprise was hanging above the Space Gallery Entrance and long decided the best match was Pactra Aero Blue at the time. However since that company is no longer in business the next best choice is from the Model Master Modeler's Technical Guide No. 2020C pg. 107 halfway down the page called Duck Egg Blue FS 35622 Testors 1722. Any Smithsonian restoration video will reflect this. That being said, your model is your choice and if you are happy with it, that's good and I'm happy you made your choice to move on. You did do a very nice job over all on your model!

It was a tough decision. I like to mix my own colors and air brush my models. In most of my videos I never mention the color because it's almost always a paint I've custom mixed and then remixed again depending on the project. But for this one, I had to buy something store bought in a rattle can to cover the model, so I was limited, It was a money / availability decision as much as anything else. I can tell you I once did a 1/1000 TOS with an aircraft grey and I hated it. It was too tan and warm in color. So picking a grey that leans blue was a btter choice for me. I was less hesitant once I knew that John Payne uses Light Ghost Grey for his builds, and I greatly admire his models. I've heard that there are a few Krylon colors labeled "Cement" that are close but I wanted a model brand paint.

Light Ghost Grey is 100% correct in this ship's universe.

your red n green bulbs did you have to paint them ? mine in my pilot edition kit are clear . light kit hasnt arrived yet so not sure if that comes with coloured bulbs or lens

Would it not be better to add the decals and seal them as they will now sit on top of the weathering?

I think that's the better way to do it. I'm just worried about damaging the decals with the thinner and the brushing / rubbing of the weathing.

I thought it was a mixture of mint green and ghost Gray
