Excellent instructions, and thanks for saving us DIYers some $$$. Also discovered that you don't have to pull the center unit completely off the main body (chassis), just high enough to clear the wheels and remove them. This way, you don't have to struggle with putting the center unit back onto the chassis.

Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to show how to repair a Polaris. I wonder how many people have simply tossed out a perfectly repairable Polaris because they didnt want to take the time to watch a video like yours.

I am not mechanically inclined and I personally perform few home repairs. This Polaris belt replacement “how to” video is clear and EZ to follow. I recommend watching it all the way through before beginning your project. Make sure you have the 3 tools mentioned in the video - flat head screwdriver, phillips head screwdriver, and a needle nose pliers - on hand before you start. Thank you!

I’ve listen to this numerous times over the last couple of months. Now I’m ready to put my belts on my Polaris. Really enjoyed listening to you talk you sound like Ray Romano so it made it very enjoyable. Plus you’re a very good speaker and you were very knowledgeable on the subject. Now I got to figure out how to do the darn ball bearings. Thank you for taking your valuable time to share with your knowledge with us

Man, so many have told me I have the Ray Romano voice. I guess it's a good thing! Haha. Thanks a lot for watching and I'm glad it helped you! Stuff like this was a lot of fun to learn over the years, and I figured why why not use it to help others? :D

My granddaughter dropped the robot a while back and snapped off the plastic piece that holds the tail (not the makers’ fault, I know, but still not a good machine so far). Today, by watching you disassemble that bot and replace the belts, I was able to strip down my 360 and salvage parts from an old one and fix the newer one. It took me a ridiculous amount of time, but I got it done. I never could have done that without your very thorough, step-by-step instructions. Also, I now feel somewhat confident that I can replace the belts and maybe the bearings, etc. when those things come up. I’m old and retired on a small pension, so this kind of help means a lot! Thank you again. And thanks for the reply. John

Great video and very helpful. I replaced my belts very easily because of your clear instruction. One comment is that I didn’t bother with removing the entire body. I just lifted it up an inch or so to allow the belts to slip underneath. It was a lot less disassembly this way.

Tremendous video! I learned so much about my 380. I knew my problem wasn't the belt, but your video showed me step by step how to take it apart the right way instead of just taking screws out and hoping I would know how to get it back together. The wheels on the 380 were moving very, very slowly and it turns out there was a seed or something that got in the jet that powers the "motor". Poked it out and now it runs perfectly! And as a bonus, I now know how to replace the belts when I need to someday. Honestly, I should have when I had the thing apart, but I didn't have the replacements when I found your video. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for the tutorial Sir. I have the 360 and now I'm confident to buy the belts and replace them myself from now on instead of taking it to pool store to have them do it. Looking forward to getting the belts by Amazon by tomorrow so I can get started. I just replaced the tubing part because the swivel above it quit working and froze up, causing my 360 to go in little tiny circles inside my pool and not doing anything. And to boot...I enjoyed watching your video as you were very professional and "attention to detail" as they say in the Army. And no rap sh*t, music, or anything corny playing in the background either, I HATE RAP!!! I love professionalism and you DEFINITELY nailed it!!! It's about freakin' time someone out there does it right!! So again, I thank you so much! Getting excited to start on my 360 tomorrow!!! And yes, I also had a bit of free-play in one of the wheels as well, explains a lot now. God bless brother!!

I prefer what you tube user Chris Cuff calls those E-clips. He calls them Jesus clips because that's what you say when you pry them off and they fly across the room and get lost. Great demonstration and description on the disassembly/reassembly process. I don't plan on ever owning a pool so this is information I will never use but having been an industrial mechanic for the past 16 years I totally identify with the process of needing to take things totally apart in order to replace simple things like drive belts.

That was extremely well laid-out and well explained. Great presentation! Got a problem with your Polaris, call Sharkie's Pool Repair (not to be confused with the much inferior Sharky's Pool, which coincidentally is in the same area code!) If I ever need the belts on mine, I know who to call! Looks like you've had that tube of lubricant for a LONG time. It still has a price sticker on it, I doubt they do that anymore. And yours has a black cap, any one I've ever bought in the last 10 years had a white cap.
@Sharkie6268 жыл бұрын
+jaykay18 Thanks! It came out great! LOTS of editing work was done. This was the shortest I could get it. Oh yeah, the lubricant I think we have had since the mid 2000s, maybe earlier.

Turned out that my 380 had a lot of damage inside, but thanks to your video and a parts diagram I was able to fix everything: the broken belt, a broken set of bearings, all the missing zip-tie-hose-clamps (all that were left inside were the little square ends), the completely worn out turbine, the missing sweep hose clamp, and the worn out O-rings and tires ... I also had to replace the back-up mechanism which had fallen apart inside its case (I opened the case, and two little gears just fell out). I think the previous owners had not tuned her up in over a decade. She is now running like a dream, got the whole pool sparkling clean in 2 hours! :-) Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH !!

Well done. If you ever update the video you may want to stress the importance of the wheel bearings and how easy it is to replace them at the same time you do belts. My bearings fail at least as frequently as the belts so it is a time saver to replace them all (there are 4 I believe) when doing the belts. It's OK to wait for them to individually fail, of course, but you'll just have to do more disassembly as a consequence and if that is your preference.
@Sharkie6267 жыл бұрын
I was actually thinking of the wheel bearings during this video. Ours are still doing great though, and I felt I would make the video a bit too complex and long if I included those as well. However that's not bad advice!
@ericdodge82275 жыл бұрын
This in incredibly helpful and instructive. I have it all apart. And have found two broken belts. But I have also found that the single drive wheel is not engaged with the hexagonal axle. Just spins and is not driven by the axle. I removed wheel, and the hole in the wheel that goes around the shaft is perfectly cylindrical. Over time is it possible all manner of a hexagonal hole hs worn away, OR doe you suppose that for the 360, this wheel is never driven, only the two with belts? Anyone? Thanks again

@benjamingarlick69595 жыл бұрын
Nice video, but there is actually a MUCH SIMPLER method: With only taking off the blue top (ie you can leave the hose attached and leave the body attached to the drive mechanism!) one can just take off the wheel E-clips and remove the 2 screws that hold each axle down to the body. Then remove the axle assembly by sliding it *inwards into* the body (ie don't pull the wheels off, but instead pull the axle assembly inwards). That is it, less than 2 or 3 minutes of work, and clearly how the manufacturer intended for the belts to be replaced.

In addition to a broken belt, I suspect I have debris in one of the pressure feed tubes clogging it. Do you have a video on how to take the tubes apart and clear the debris?
@billlang33524 жыл бұрын
Great vid! For the 2 belts, does the long belt really have to be on the outside and the short belt on the inside? I'm not sure that it matters one way or the other, especially since the gears on the wheels are of the same width and alignment. The belts on mine actually came with the opposite placement, brand new from day one (around 2001, and still chugging).
@Sharkie6264 жыл бұрын
Yeah that actually probably doesn't matter, but I figured to just be consistent.
@johnking79116 жыл бұрын
The Polaris 360 does a GREAT job WHEN it's working... but my gripe is that it fails often and easy and there is simply too much disassembly required to fix the most common faults. At this point, you've practically stripped it completely down just to replace the drive belts and I'm replacing mine after a single calendar year. You have to do the same thing just to clear a clogged jet for the water wheel. I got the rebuild kit the last time and never could get the drive gears out to replace them.
@Sharkie6266 жыл бұрын
Yeah unfortunately there is a lot of disassembly required, even though the work itself is not hard to do, it's very easy to see what goes where. I can't make the amount any less, but I sure can make it look easier to do! :)

I followed everything on here. Everything looks and works great turning the wheels plus i changed the 8 bearings. but i did the test in the water for the wheels to turn approx 25-28 times per minute if i am correct? why would the wheels be turning so slow? the tails is moving, i can see all the stuff being vaccumed into the bag. Got any ideas by chance?

I think that is the right RPM measurement. The jet for your waterwheel may be blocked.

I’ll see if I can get the smaller bearings today and give it another try. I’m about to put it all in a box and take it over to the repair place and have them do it. I can’t get the train off the body. I have the train lift it up but I can’t get it all the way off. Hoping I’ll be able to do all the repairs without removing the train completely. Jeepers do you have a video about the bearings? If not could you do one today so I can figure out how to do this? I have a 360

As far as the wheel bearings, I think they just pop right out, and you simply pop a new one in. For the other ones though like by the gears, I haven't had to work on them before, so I'm not too sure on the steps for those. I don't think it will be too hard though. I certainly will give you though that trying to get the drivetrain on and off the body is rather a task sometimes.

Your video was spot on. Unfortunately when I dissembled my 360 the base cracked. I bought a replacement with new water management system installed. I re assembled to your instructions and it went great. However the wheels now do not turn at all. Any suggestions? I know this is an old video, not sure if you still monitor this channel. Thanks

Seems like it mostly went well. Are you unable to turn the wheels by hand at all, or do they just not turn while the unit is running?

Hi I have a question my husband just changed all ball bearings, and belts. because it was not moving. after changing both Items, it still does not move right. it will move a little then stop and get stuck. do you have any other solutions ?? you are a very good presentation. thanks.

Sounds like the wheels are jamming at some point? If so, there may be something stuck in the drivetrain's main gears. Maybe have a look there first.

A tiny little bug was stuck in the little jet that pushes the water wheel. After removing that and cleaning the wall screen again it was good to go!

Nice job !! The screws are stainless steel so a magnetic screw driver will not work !

Great video, thank you. My 360 just wants to pivot in small circles as the rear wheels do not touch the pool bottom. Plenty of water flow and all wheels turn, but not moving around the pool. Any ideas. Thank you.

Hmm, is there enough slack on the hose? Maybe it has one too many floats.

Sharkie626 further inspection, shows one free wheel and the other with too much play, so ordering new belts. Also had a fair amount of water escaping at a hose coupling. Thanks for your help.

My wheels work intermittently at best, but I know at least one of my belts is broken thanks to your video. I'm opening it up tonight to see if I also have a broken or loose hose. Thanks again!

Looks like could have changed belts without taking the whole thing apart…remove wheel hubs , e clips , then belts .. is that possible ?

I tried that, but couldn't find any way to do such.

Hi Sharkie626. GREAT video. Thanks. Have you ever changed the water management system on this model? I see I can buy the assembly with all 3 hoses attached. In my unit this is sealed in with some kind of caulking. If you have successfully done this I'll take a shot at is. Thanks.
@Sharkie6264 жыл бұрын
I'm actually unsure what that is. Do you mean something in the wall connector?
@richmoulder49014 жыл бұрын
No it’s the hoses in the main body. There are 3 of them that move water through the Polaris. If you search Amazon for 380 parts you’ll see the assembly. Thanks.

@@richmoulder4901 Oh those! Ahh okay. Never had to change them though.

I jumped ahead of myself I just put the Polaris in my pool the wheels are not turning😩 It must be another problem any suggestions I will greatly appreciate.
@Sharkie6267 жыл бұрын
Do the wheels turn freely? If they do, the water jet for the drivetrain's waterwheel might be clogged.
@willytwo53072 Жыл бұрын
Great job! Thank you. Where do you get parts from? Polaris only?
@Sharkie626 Жыл бұрын
It's been a while, I think I got these either from Amazon, or a Leslie's pool store.
