Just did an oil change on my Sportsman 800. With the long filter, I can't get a filter wrench on it. It fits on with the short filter.

Just make sure you have the right filter. You might have to try a rubber belt type filter winch but they are hard to us in a tight area. If you can grab it with your hands the filter should only but hand tight anyway.

Everyone seems uptight about oil weight. Rotella 5w40 is good for an 07 800 twin?

couple of tips that I would say are technique, not that anything he did was wrong 1) always change the oil with it warm (or hot) so that more of the old drains out 2) when putting the oil filter back on, hand tighten --- then 1/8 to 1/4 turn with a wrench [no more than that] 3) when you check the oil after filling, start with 75-80% of fill capacity . . start engine let it run a few min's to cycle oil through filter . . shut down, then check it. At 75% it should be at the 'add' level or close to it, then determine if you need to put the remaining portion of the fill capacity in. [in his case 1.5 quarts, run, shutdown check, most likely it would have been at the bottom of the add line (first circle) assuming he got most of the oil out the first time] The final check of level before zipping it up should be after it reaches operating temperature. Straight forward video and thats appreciated The BassHunter --- thx !!

I don’t want to tell you yes to that and something happens to your ATV. I say you should use what the manufacturing say to use. I don’t think the brand name is a big deal but the weight of the oil is important. You have to remember that ATV motor puts in a lot work at high RPM. So , use the right oil…
