Have done some work on regular polaris clutches for sleds and then bought a 570 ranger and am amazed at how badly the clutch was worn out in the spider area. The drive sides of the towers had groves .030" in them which made them unusable as new pucks would just jamb up and get ground up sliding on the rough surface. So what i did was to tig weld up the towers with aluminum rod but ran into an issue where the clutch has magnesium in it and had some bubbling of the base metal happening. Found that a lower heat will help with the bubbles and maybe a magnesium rod for filler but didn't have one . Hand machined down the towers and seems like it should work . With the spiders having slopped out holes for the pucks i cleaned out the holes really good and used a loctite epoxy metal ( aluminum ) and glued the pucks in with not too much problem . I had to emery a couple of the pucks down a tiny bit to get the spacing the same between all the pucks and towers but it slides quite nice . Not really worried about balance as this engine doesent really rev that fast and i am shure that is in better balance than before where some of the pucks were missing .

What is the plastic bushing on the primary clutch shaft? Mine slides back and forth on the shaft.

What happen when the primary clutch does not turn? It seemed to be stuck.

Do u think running it full throttle for like 10-15 minute straight can mess up the engine? I'm gonna check to c if i blew the band. Hopefully its that and not the engine but mine just stopped responding after a long run

What couse the primary not to disengage at idle I have a sled 600 XLT if you hold the track up give it gas it works fine but when you go to hold the brake and stop track the motor wants to die and you can hear the belt screeching on the primary

Not very familiar with sleds, but can't believe it's much different than a SxS.... I'd be checking the clutch for bushing, button and weight wear. Your clutch is telling you that it needs gone through by it failing to release. Does it have some miles/hours on it? Only other thing would be an idle speed that's too high.

Yeah they're the same as a side by side my buddy just bought this sled off of Craigslist the other day and we are going through it and this was the problem we got it running the carburetor for all gummed up it's got about six thousand miles on it yeah we're waiting for the clutch puller to come and we're going to check the buttons I almost guarantee you the buttons in the bushing ar probably worn out

My 800 is hard to shift. the secondary clutch spinning all the time while the engine is running. replace the one way bearing 300 miles ago everything worked fine after that. That bearing still spins freelee so I don't think that's it. Also have blown everything out with your hoes got all dust out cleaned shivs primary and secondary. Been thinking about getting a clutch alignment tool. Saw your other video where you can look down and kind of tell if it's running true. No where on the primary near the base like you showed in one of your other videos I think. Also noticed on the primary the weights have grooves worn in the sides of them maybe too much slop in there like you were talking about the buttons I'll take a look. Any ideas you have would be appreciated. Thanks like your videos. Take care. Dave

Little Slow on the reply here Dave, but I'll see if I can help ya out- You're Primary clutch bearing is spinning freely, so that's good- Next I'd ask you what you idle speed is. Should be around 1100-1150 or less on the 800s. Any higher and the clutch will try to engage(and won't release). Also you could be getting enough wear in the buttons and outer sheave (where the buttons ride) to be causing some binding. Worn weights, pins and rollers will also cause this issue. Belt misalignment definitely will cause drag. with the engine idling in neutral you should see the belt running with a slight gap on either side of it. It should not be touching either sheave. Also, look to make sure the two bushings (one on the outer cover, and one on the outer sheave) have not slid out of their normal position. This will also cause binding. With the engine idling and cover off, watch the primary clutch as you turn the engine off- If you see the outer sheave the primary clutch jump out/away, that tells you it's not disengaging fully, and you need to remove/disassemble and find out what's going on there.... Hope that helps. Come on over to sxsnation.com and chat with us if you cant get it figured out!

I became the owner of a polaris diesel crew 2012 engine. I dreamed about this car for a long time and was very upset when confronted with the problem of shifting. How you solve the problem.
@OldGlory17767 жыл бұрын
Generally I know the 2011 diesels had clutch engagement problems, and my 2012 had minor issues as well. What sometimes helps is lowering the engine idle speed on the injection pump by 100-200 rpms. What's the idle speed now? The newer primary clutches will be updated to help remedy this problem, but it is a fairly widely known issue on the diesel rangers.
