Several manufacturers made diesel atv's ( some still do ). But they don't make very many of them, won't ship'em to the dealers unless ordered, not only don't advertise them as diesels but almost go out of their way to deny they make'm, all so they can say no body buys'em / they don't sell. Posch ! My Artic Cat 700 Diesel averaged about 32 mpg ( 1/100km ) but topped out at about 45mph ( 4,000 ft elevation ). Not what young kids want for doing donuts / racing / mud bogging. For a sensible person, Farmer / Rancher, exploring-trail riding...Perfect !

Hi been getting my 1999 polaris diesel going .after 5 or 6 years. learning a lot. One thing I never knew about is there is a decompression lever on front of engine.HA. Bet it will help in winter.
@rockspowersports Жыл бұрын
Yes the decompression helps a lot. Usually I’ll hold it up while cranking it over for 10 seconds and then drop it. Helps with the cold starting.

I've been looking for one of these for years here in eastern Canada. There was one for sale a while back, 1999 model. The guy wanted like $5000 for it. Couldn't get an offer anywhere near that so he ended up selling the engine out of it to a guy to install in a 2002 sportsman 500. Don't know if it ever worked out though

@Rg Supreme They are very unique machines. They are overpriced most of the time just because you don’t see to many of them for sale… it’s too bad he didn’t keep that wheeler original there getting very hard to find.

@@rockspowersports I know Polaris made some kinda oddball models during the same timeframe you diesel was made. My dad had a gear drive one that didn’t utilize the variable belt drive. You shifted with you left foot like a motorcycle but it still had an automatic clutch. I remember the reverse was something extra hokey too but can’t remember how it worked. It was tan in color.
@rockspowersports2 жыл бұрын
@@countylineengineeringmachi2942 Yes the Xpedition 325 and 425 they were also a limited run and I think they had some problems with the shifting mechanism in them. Polaris must of realized they were better off sticking with the CVT transmission.

Other than the weak battery, has the Polaris diesel been a solid machine for you?
