I think the weight of his decision is that he knows the work is beautiful , because the work is inspired by the woman he keeps painting. But the beauty he created under her inspiration now surrounds him, and makes him unable to move on. So he tries to paint her terribly, blindly obscures it throwing paint and mess to try and forget, and burns the whole thing down so he can move on. It's a depressing and relatable duality, to have to let go of something beautiful so you can stop the pain.

Polaris's strongest point is that they're all honestly so talented in the band that you never feel like there's a disconnect in any parts of the song. The way the two vocalists go back and forth is amazing and it doesn't feel like your usual unclean/clean structure. And even though the song structure might be 'simple', boy, they riff everything so fucking well with a nice touch a technicality yet melodic enough and you just find yourself banging your head without even knowing why. And don't even get me started with the lyrics. The song is amazing.

The theme of the song isn't an instant win (for me) simply because it talks about subjects I can empathise with, in fact, as a guitar player myself, I'm usually taking issue with the overall musical delivery before anything else, hence my criticism of it. It's simply not to my taste - musically - regardless of "the message" behind it. I hope that explains my stance a little better and outlines that I'm not just voicing my critique to be "awkward". Dude. I swear I heard the chorus melody somewhere. But I can’t think of the song. Or do you think it’s just like your classic metal/punk rock melody but with their own twist? Idk I feel like it’s from a very popular song. But I just can’t put my finger on it.

I'm not sure if the band will ever see this, but I really need to say it. This song literally and I mean literally saved my life. After 10 years of being a prisoner to meth I reached the point where I was ready to end it all. I had found a patch of particularly poisonous mushrooms so i could pass it off as an accident, i was ready to go. The day i had in mind was Sunday and the Saturday night before, this band hosted rage. I hadn't heard them before but I enjoyed their song selection and then they played this. Firstly, the simple act of asking the question "am I in love with all my ailments, glutton for punishment, you can't trust me to be there for you....." that hit me like a ton of bricks. Then the gorgeous poetry in the bridge that ends with the line "the only thing standing in between happiness, and myself is this depression I hold so close to my chest..." instantly I burst into tears. It felt like you guys had been watching me and wrote this to let me know I'm not alone. I'm choking up even recalling this but since then I've had so much joy from going through the whole polaris catalogue. Mortal coil is my fav, but the point is, I, my girlfriend and any possible children I might have want to say thank you for the gift of your art that saved me by telling me I was the builder of my prison. Sober now and loving every day.

This song gets blasted as loud as I can get it every single time and yes I do scream at the top my lungs and yes I know you see me and no I don't care 🤣❤💯

This I love. It's very much like the duality.. being tender or more even toned but the rage that builds up and pours out.. that is relatable.. The artwork also is very high quality.. the sound has great depth .. layers of different things but it all makes logic in its own way..

Got introduced to Polaris this year and I loved their music so much. Got my shit mixed up bad, had some depressive episodes, tried to deal with them and this song was the most repeated of the year. With half an hour to go for 2020, I enjoy a pint of Guinness, this song and my loneliness thanks to this virus that I am isolated away from family and friends. What a year! Thanks, Polaris. I'll make sure to find you somewhere in Europe once this virus is gone.

Holy cow it does get better actually. A year later, still half an hour to go, still drinking beer. Still having all those issues but I'm finally working towards getting rid of them for good. I swear I'll make this an annual thing. To whom it may concern, keep on fighting. Hell, I know I will for years to come.

Damn, what a year. Losing Ryan almost felt like losing an old friend. Polaris got me through some hard times. For anyone struggling, as stated above, it does get better. Let's go for another run around the sun!

A few years ago I got totally burnt out of metal. Then this album dropped. And I was burnt out of metal except this album. These lyrics, the music, the chorus, everything is so beautiful.

This isn't metal, its core. Core is punk. Real metal is death metal, thrash, etc. This is fake pussy shit.
@ETHVN231 Жыл бұрын
wow, a core nazi. Thought I’d never see it again after 2016. But if you could refer back to my comment, I was not referring to the band itself as metal-I was referring to the genera itself as an overall standpoint. I’d state the case of facts, but given that you define the 80’s as a prominent definition of the style I know that it would be arguing with a wall

I'm in love with this bands music. Jamie's screams and the guitars @ 2:25-2:58 remind me of a continuation of the end of crooked path

22 to 24 year old me needs this song rn. I feel like a masochist that's always helping people. Putting them first and myself second. But in the end, I don't ask for anything in return. I don't know if the misery is haunting me, or if I just got used to it being there for so long.
