In ATV, seatbelts are pretty much must have. ATV's do roll over easier than cars and you don't want to be under it when it does. In Finland half a dozen die every year for because they get squashed under rolled over ATV. Most of them have been ordinary ATV's and RZR's are more stable, but still it is serious and unnecessary risk.

Being in a tank seems more sensible but these vehicles seem right, if you look at the history of warfare, that best cavalry was always numerous and light where the terrain was harsh. Its a gut feeling though.

OK, now this is what I have done a lot of in desert, mountains, rivers (dry & flooding) and snow and what I need to see in any vehicle. Some light bullet slowing side curtains would be a feel good thing to have. Polaris makes good equipment. But is doesn't come in hunter orange? (never mind).

Meant to say in this kind of ATV, which have protective cage and possibility to use seatbelts... Naturally, in ordinary ATV you are totally exposed in case of accident and seat belt would make it even.

The target is congressmen and Pentagon brass and anyone who has access to those people. The profit margins on government contracts are insane. More than worth it to put this out there and get people talking and looking at it if there is even a 1% chance some general's kid sees it and shows his dad and they close a $800 mil contract to supply these things. The military-industry complex is in it's golden age and everyone wants an piece of the pie from the U.S. perpetual war machine.

no, ATV is much proven in the recent operational theater especially in SpecOps community, SEAL SAS Delta TACP, all used ATV during the early stage of Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom campaign with great success . Speed is their Armor

+umvhu There's always the possibility of a different diesel motor being used, they want to win the ULCV contract after all so they'd likely produce a concept version for US Military appraisal at some stage to comply with requirements. Or they could even go electric. Hendrick Dynamics also submitted their adaptation of a Jeep Wrangler for appraisal, that could be an interesting choice as it's got the diesel engine, it's got the required air transportable capability, and it's got the added bonus of being a potentially much cheaper option throughout it's service life.

Nice death trap they have created here. I got three words for this vehicle that should have killed any hopes of it making it to our military; improvised explosive device. Even if the floor is heavily armored the occupants will still be entirely exposed to shrapnel. This thing is nothing but a four wheel drive coffin.

The point of an ATV is to go where there is no IED's but to each there own considering the guys in field that use this equipment mainly use Honda quads

I was pointing out on the size difference between the bigger vehicles and the smaller ones like with an ATV you can go down these areas that you cannot with larger trucks that's all mate. I never said anything about an ATV setting off an IED or anything because I know What IED's can do Cheers!
