I was on repulse during this bbc doc. Served for many years on this "black beast", great memories and best of mates.

Did you not find it boring sometimes like the lad on here talks about?

Served on Repulse, on my first ever dive, they piped, "the Submarine is it at 60ft, check for leaks" I thought they were taken the piss until I got shouted at, and doubled away to look I'm always more worried on a plane to Spain than I was on a boat at sea

Jonty Powis was really a high profile submariner, he was on Conquerer, in this documentary, in Discovery channels Sharks of steel and in defence of the realm episode on Victorious.

Big credit to the lads and now lasses who did and still serve on our missile boats. It must be bloody tedious sometime but its the absolute tip of the spear of the UK military.

Missile Technician 2nd Class (SS) I made four patrols on the USS George C Marshall SSBN 654 B&G. One Polaris A3 and three Poseidon C3. We kept ourselves busy with the extension courses from the various Universities. I got a great education from the Navy.

I wouldn't be surprised once the submarine has completed its patrol and has returned most of the junior ratings would be hitting the local pubs and knocking shops.

Worked on all four bombers ( tradesman) at Rosyth back in the 80’s and 90’s. The crew would fire-watch for us hot-workers ( welders/ caulkers/burners). All cracking lads.

Which is the submarine class at the start? Is know it’s not a Resolution class. My guess would be Valiant.

I think us Canadians bought all four of those submarines off you guys when you were done with them.

No mate. You bought the Upholder class which were diesel electric, not nuclear. Polaris boats are SSBN's, Upholders SSK's.
