We outfitted our new Polaris RZR Pro XP Turbo with 32-inch EFX MotoVator R/T tires mounted on KMC beadlock wheels then took it to the Rubicon Trail to get a better idea how this new unit can rock crawl.

Great Review - tks. Are your wheels factory offset / @ 64" width? Thoughts on whether the Pro XP 4 would have too long a wheelbase for Rubicon / similar trails? In the area and considering this model.

Considering a PRO XP 4. Will be taking it to the Rubicon. Any suggestions on ideal width (wheel offset vs the OEM 64") ...? New model, hard to get real info ... appreciate any input.

To really test this unit you need to take it to Moab and hit the likes of Cliff Hanger, Steel Bender, Moab Rim, Pritchett Canyon, Metal Masher, etc. The big question will be the durability and reliability that Polaris is not known for. I continue to see RZR's broken down on the trails -- not fun at all!

Looks like it’s properly geared! I hope the leave the gearing alone in the 72” version. Turbo s low gearing was too damn high

I'm pretty sure the engineers at Polaris make the lower control arms break or bend before it bends and mangles the frame.... if they're to Biffy and rigid then the frame would tweak bend and break before their lower control arms, but I could be wrong...

The can am has superior suspension geometry, but the suspension attachment points are all single shear. The Polaris is all double shear. If you spend the $2K+ to reinforce the can am, it is a better machine. If you you don’t, it will literally fall apart in VERY short order. Polaris has much much much better engineering, and will take substantially more abuse, then ask for more, please.

This is not a premium model it is an ultimate model. Also the firm mode is not more firm than turbo s. On turbo s firm mode is full 10. Pro xp firm mode is not full 10. Pushing the red button the steering wheel will put it to full 10 though.

Just because it may be different on the number scale doesn’t mean it isn’t more firm at a lower value on the higher end. Polaris reworked the calibration of dynamix so it’s not 1:1 between Pro XP and Turbo S. There are many differences in the way the system reacts as well.

@@UTVGuide101 polaris actually softened firm and added the pucker. there are many reasons it feels firmer but mostly because its a 64" so you dont have as much travel to give.

@@UTVGuide101 KOH isn't rockcrawling is it, it's more like fast racing and whoops? For large rocks you need the articulation that no sway bar gives. Both wheels will stay on the ground whereas in your video you have one wheel off the ground going over obstacles. That's not as stable. I have been to the Off road park in Hot Springs and other places many times and no sway bar (at least on the front is the way to go). Try it some time you will be pleased. Thanks

The biggest problem I see with Side by sides "rock crawling" or side by side Rock Crawler specific machine is that drivers fail to disconnect sway bars, dramatically reducing flex... no, actually almost completely eliminating flex. rock crawling Side by sides without sway bar disconnects are a complete joke and shouldn't even be called rock crawlers. They may be able to do some very mild trails, but kick the complexity of the trail up by even a single notch and side by sides fail in dramatic fashion. Suffice it to say there's nothing even "crawler-like" about a side by side.... not any of them. And just because Can am put a winch and a selectable locker on the X3 XRC doesn't mean its a rock crawler. It's lipstick on a pig. I've modified the hell out of my x3xrs for multisport applications... sand to rocks, and it pales to compare to even a stock jeep on 33's in the rocks. So I think we should all just quit with the whole "rock crawler side by side" notion. Until we can find a way to really make them crawl (straight axles maybe) there will be no such thing as a sxs crawler. Sorry if I rained on everybody's parade

@UTVGuide101
@UTVGuide101 4 жыл бұрын
Bad Dealer completely disagree. Turbo has won King of the Hammers the last 3-4 years. Turbo doesn’t come into play in the rocks.
@baddealer8914
@baddealer8914 4 жыл бұрын
UTV Guide With all due respect King Of The Hammers isn’t a crawling competition. Thats a full throttle abuse of your racer and see who can survive. I don’t know thats a good comparison to slow, technical, picking each line taking your time and “crawl” over rocky terrain. When I think of crawling I think of Jeep Wranglers.
@UTVGuide101
@UTVGuide101 4 жыл бұрын
The turbo has no affect on low speed technical crawling. We have tons of time rock crawling in turbo and non-turbo UTVs and would let you know if it was an issue.
