I used to always like to take a deep well socket the same diameter as the wrist pin to place on the clip once it's in place and give it a light tap with your palm to make sure the clips are seated. Every now and then I'd have one 'snap' into place even though I thought I had it. Maybe those fancy Polaris pistons are different than my ol' 250R and Banshee pistons, though.
@toddclyne34932 жыл бұрын
I usually wait to hear the snap and figure it's good. Great idea about the socket

Love your channel . I’ve sold used cars and Used parts and repairables for 40 some yrs and believe me I know what having thick skin is all about. You Learn a lot of patience and you also learn you only have to take so much. I’ve held cars and other things for many people through the yrs and some of the times I lost the sale because they come and then back out. So then you get in touch with the other caller to find out they bought something else since. It’s always a guessing game even when you have been doing it forever.

I was a twin rider since way long ago. Never really that interested in triples, then I lucked into an XC that had been setup by someone that knew how, and what to put together. I have to say, I was missing out on a whole lot of fun avoiding triples. Todd's vids have dispelled some of the greasy-triple myths I had believed.

I've been watching your videos for a few years now and finally hit the Subscribe button. I subscribed because I love your passion 4 Polaris and the sport. Please don't let an inconsiderate persons comments ruin it for what you love. I love watching all of your content but what I like to see the most is what you taught your son. That is what matters the most! My dad introduced me to the sport and passion for Polaris sleds in the 70's and I spent time with him just like your son does with you. The last couple of years we were looking for a 1975 440 TX to work on together but never found one. I lost him this year and we will never get to work on that project. Love what's real and feel sorry for the people that feel the need to ruin everybody else's life. Keep up the good work and continue being the best father you can be.

Talk about parts flying...I was changing the C clip on a carb needle the other day and the needle fell out went under the engine. After looking for 3 hours I pulled the engine. STILL couldnt see it. It had flown as far away from where it fell as possible and wedged itself into the belly pan seam. Id have never found it if I had not pulled the engine. With the engine out I decided new pistons wouldnt suck so Im sticking new ones in this weekend. The moral...always lay a towel down if theres any chance you can drop anything. Things vanish into thin air on ya... Its an old fan cooled AC sled...NOT a triple but it keeps up with the trips pretty good. My triple is getting EGT gauges...waiting on the pod cluster to get here. Thats going to be cool!!!! Next I'll just need it to snow.....

Nice build Todd. I recently rebuilt my stock 500 triple from my 1980 Centurion. I used SPX pistons and the rings didn’t have any markings on either side. Kind of threw me for a loop. I just kind of guessed and threw it back together and the compression was good on all three cylinders. I put a towel under the piston and sure as shit the C-clip dropped in the only tiny gap in the rag down into the bottom end. Luckily a magnet got it out. On the base nuts on other builds I use a Motion Pro 12/14 mm torque adapter, part number 08-0134. I bought mine a long time ago, but they’re around $18 on Amazon. The way you do it is just fine too. Just thought I’d mention it for anyone that wants a tool to do that job with.

@patbarch82782 жыл бұрын
As stated already, machine the bores to the pistons for proper fit, and be sure the ring gap is set correctly. I’ve not run wisecos in a sled, but I’ve installed hundreds in performance engines over my years as a mechanic. From 700 all-wheel horsepower Evos, 400-800 AWD HP Subarus, bmws, Audis, fords, chevys, 572ci big block race engines etc never one issue with them.

Todd, take heart, negative commentary means you are starting to hit the big time... that was something an author agent told Clive Cussler (Big time novel writer) just before he sold his breakout novel. I commented over on Cleetus McFarland's channel last week.... Go to a bar with 100 people, guarantee there's one dickhead in the place.... You are getting average 5-15k views per video, that means 50-150 arseholes to comment on every vid.
