Polaris XL Fender Flare Install - 2019 General 4 1000 (Vid #36)

After hitting some pretty muddy trails, we decided to get the Polaris XL Fender Flares. This video shows the differences in coverage with the stock vs. the XL Flares and some of the modifications we had to make to the Ricochet Offroad rock sliders to make it all work. They appear to be a solid product at a very reasonable price. We look forward to putting them to use.

Anyone coming here for help on how to install these things, here's some tips that may be helpful. 1. The front stock fenders proved to be the biggest problem with this project. To remove them, first remove the bolt that connects the fender to the rocker panel. Then try to wedge a hand between the fender and the body as close to the clip as you can, then gently pull the fender and the clip will pull through. You have to pull hard enough that it feels like it's going to break, but just keep pulling, and it will come apart. 2. With the old ones removed, the next problem you'll likely face is installing the new front fenders. The problem I had was that the new clips would not seat properly in the holes which made them stick out a bit. To solve this, I removed the front body panels. To remove the panels, first remove the doors by removing the two hinge bolts that hold them on. Remove the hood next. With the doors & hood out of the way, follow the inside edge of the panel, and remove all fasteners (push-pins + torx screws). Once the body panel has been removed, you can easily install the new one. ** I did this step after removing the fenders intentionally because it's easier to remove the stock fenders when the body panel is firmly attached to the vehicle. 3. With the new fender properly seated in the body panel, drill the holes for the push-pins, then install the push-pins. 4. Reinstall the body panel with the new flare attached. Start from the front and pay special attention to the part where the panel tucks into the upper part of the wheel-well. Also, be sure to attach the clip to that part before you start. Once you get past the front fenders, the rest is fairly easy, but I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

Sure thing. Good luck deciding what to buy. It can be tough knowing what accessories will work together. I had to modify my rock sliders after I added the fender flares.

Did you have trouble getting the fronts to stay clipped into plastic fender? I can’t seem to get them to stay.

The only part I had difficulty with was drilling a hole in the tab inside the front wheel well. Mine didn't line up very well, so the hole broke and it doesn't hold the push pin anymore.

Any tips on removing the green clips off old flares?

Will the lock and ride storage box work with that utility rack you have installed on your bed

I'm not sure but it looks like it could. I don't have the lock and ride storage box. You would have to use the two middle holes of the bed rail to mount the box or see if they would both mount together with the same hole (not sure if that would work). You might get a better idea by going to the dimension tab on their website to see how things would line up.
