All of these versions illustrate how brilliant James Hetfield lyrics really are

And the fact that they usually write the melody first and James just have to make the lyrics work with the melody makes it even more amazing.

Well that is how you make great music, writing the lyrics first and the music for it can yield boring songs :)

Truly incredible. Best cover of that night, hands down. He just transcended the song beyond labels. Just pure musicality and emotion honoring James Hetfield's songwriting in the best way possible. This version needs to be recorded in a studio.

I know hating on Lars has always been one of those "cool" things to do (and often with good reason), but I can't help but smile and feel absolutely inspired by how happy and emotional and just into this whole thing he looks. He's not a perfect person, he's not the most skilled drummer, but he's still one of my absolute heroes growing up. Lars is awesome.

Anyone who actually knows metal music would know that Metallica would not be what it is today without Lars Ulrich. No one worked harder to get them out there. Also, and this'll upset the metal elitists, your favorite Metallica songs from back before they "sold out" (lol) was structured by Ulrich. What Lars Ulrich has accomplished should be an inspiration to anyone trying to get into the business.

Tbh i never jumped on that train, personally Lars is the best drummer in the world for me, he's 1st then Joey from Slipknot in a very close 2nd and then Nicko from Iron Maiden 3rd :-) Thats just me tho, reason i love these drummers is coz they dont just find a fitting beat and then loop it throughout the song, they actually play WITH the songs and they do it beautifully :-) o7 much respect for drummers like that

Interesting way of hearing No Leaf Clover and Wherever I May Roam. But when you've got a song, you've got a song. When I looked at Lars, I believe the man's heart was probably on the bring of exploding. He was genuinely emotional there. I'm pretty sure he was really surprised that a song - HIS song - could be heard like this. I'm sure any musician would be proud and emotional when another musician took their song and revealed dimensions that the author never even imagined. (And don't split hairs about whose song it is. You know what I mean.)

"turn around and found new high lights". is this wrong or right? I've seen lyrics where it says new high lights, but to me it sounds like "turn around and found the right line", and I've seen lyrics where it says that too.

The award seems to have lost it's preminence and prestige by holding the proceeding in a function hall of a hotel no matter if it's one of the world's finest. The Polar committee it seems want to hit two birds in one stone by holding the award and dinner here.
